Hey LIPPSTUH, have you called the PISMO CHAMBER of COMMERCE yet?

They know the area best & can provide info about meets like ours. They might be able to recommend & book some great spots.

Doesn't hurt to call. Here is the # (805)773-4382

I second this movement.
I'll cook you a hot dog if she happens to be single, too.

Now back on topic. I don't care where it's held, if it ends up in Socal I'd still go, we're driving 3hrs minimum anyway, whats another 2-3
However, Pismo/SLO seems to be the most appropriate and logically fair to hold a meet for 50-100 people

Meet Details
Description: Alright, now we are going to start fine tuning this event. Some issues need to be addressed.
  1. Awards: We needs to come up with awards, find prizes (if funds are available).
  2. Judges: Judge the awards... yay... This way it won't be [too] biased and everyone has a chance.
  3. Funds: I'm thinking we should try a flat fee for everyone so everyone contributes equally, but it can get VERY complicated... I want to have small prizes for awards, pay fees for the park, food, etc.
  4. Vendors: I'm TRYING to get vendors to come out, but its hard. Maybe we can get some sample products... Hopefully people like Mike of ATLP can give a "gift card" for a discount, but don't get your hopes up with this economy.
  5. Date: seems like everyone likes July 18th, I wanted June 27th though. Remember we can't please everyone, but we'll try.
  6. Activities: Sounds like we're in elementary but I don't want clicks forming everywhere. Lame that we all come together and we only talk to people from our region. Football sounds good. Name tags of course... I just want to put the faces to the username/car. Plus we don't have to just sit there staring at each other going... uhhh.
  7. Photo shoot: We need a location, IMO its not a big deal but if there's a spot then we should take advantage of our one-time-of-the-year meet.
  8. Caravans: Too soon to plan, but we know that's one of the more fun parts of the meet.
  9. Comments/Questions: if important PM me, if not we can address it here.

i'd be down for making those cheap acurazine license plate covers again like i did last year, could probably make name tags too. probably wouldnt cost more than $2 per car to make and print the plate covers and name tags, and whoever doesnt sign up ahead of time to get a "custom" name tag and plate will have to live with the cheap office depot... "hi my name is" sticker and a sharpie, lol.

^ well you already know about me LOL

I think it should be per person kuz we dont want to do per car because people will bring full cars of people and basically you do per car. 1 car 5 people.

the license plates are good for the people who don't want theirs to show up in photographs.

but name tags never ever ever work out

I don't like the idea of paying extra amounts. I'm going to pay the park fee to get in, but I'm bringing my own food.

We had tons of shared food last year, and I think that worked out great. We had a list going of who was bringing something to share.

Monterey spot fee is $100+7=$107 for 120 people max.

you can see it in the google street maps view

you can see the parking lot right next to it only holds about 18~ cars. so people will have to park at the other larger parking areas.

the group spot called Pine looks terrible, and holds 70 max http://www.slocountyparks.com/images/NipomoPine.jpg

monterery is too far from the 2 large parking lots or else it would have been a great spot. and majority votes, how else are we going to have extra funds for extra activities and incentives?

but its still a work in progress...

I don't really like the Nipomo spot, but I was just posting more information about it.

as far as extra funds for extra activities, some people might not want to pay extra $$ for that type of thing, and I'll be pretty much sitting on my chair for most of the time.

if wherever we go allows amplified sound, then maybe somebody could bring a couple loud speakers and music.

we are limited in choices, if u feel like there's a more suitable venue for our meet, feel free to find one.

as for a set fee, its the most fair way to split up the cost. its the most ideal way as well, but doesn't always work which is why i'm still debating. but its not fair that person A spends $5 on cups and plates, while more dedicated people like Huy pays for $80 worth of korean bbq. activities is your choice to join or not, football is basically free lol, prizes are up for grabs with awards. i'm more worried about people being cheap and buying $3 soda while other people drop mad money on meat.

like i said its an option and its up to the rest of you to decide. i'm just trying to put together a fair a fun meet for all of you. i might be asian, but i'm not communist.

I'm glad to see a date has been settled....

The general consensus for location has been SLO or Pismo, right?

As far as judges, we can just create a simple "ballot" allowing everyone to vote, most votes wins

Park fees, last year the amount needed was posted, and people made contributions. We more than covered the fees.

Food: We had tons of left overs last year. Easiest is to have people bring stuff for themselves and to share.

I think the most important thing at the moment is choosing a location. Once that is done, we can post an official event and start getting sign-ups. The rest can start coming together then....

alright thanks for your input, we can do it the old school way as well then ask for donations, i just thought this might be a good idea to have a set fee for attending and using it for everything.

again its up to you all to decide how and what I decide for the meet. just speak up.

anyways happy valentines day!
