Summer is Coming
My guess is they have already re-tooled the production line or are in the process of doing so. 2020 Production has stopped. Yes they may be able to tweak software, but the hardware design is probably frozen. Acura could release the car and give some buying incentives like half off payments for 6 months if financed through Honda, or low initial 6 month lease deals. This at least gives the factory something to build and dealers something to sell and those who have jobs and need a new car, an attractive option to get into a dealership. Heck I've barely been out of the house for the last 3 weeks. I haven't even been grocery shopping. It would take a lot to get me into a car dealership. Especially for a 1st year Acura. They'd practically have to be giving them away, along with a box of face masks. lol!

I agree, my dealer I go to weren't doing well before this happened. I can't imagine what will happen when they reopen. Doubtful they will take back all the employees

The show for the public would have started April 10th. The reveal date would have been today or tomorrow (8th and 9th) as those were the media days for the NY Auto Show. Maybe they will let us in on the information tomorrow?! Have very low expectations...

Unfortunately, I think I have to agree at this point. Since there's no news (As per usual) I would love a survey on here (If anyone can do it) to get opinions on if the Cannonball Run record set this month should count as the record or if people think there should be an asterisk on that time?
The team did it in an Audi A8 and beat the record set in November by 45 minutes (Prior record was an E63).

If it's happening, I'm ready to let go of my Model 3.

We already knew since the beginning of the year that there will be 2 engine choices and first will be the base, then Type S. "HOPE"!

"A full redesign is coming soon for Acura's best-selling sedan, the TLX. The standard 2021 TLX will go on sale this summer with a base price in the mid-$30,000 range, followed by the exciting high-performance Type S variant early next year."
That sounds like a pretty important detail confirming no Type-S this calendar year. The concept was rolled out in August 2019 and the production version isn't going to show up for another 18 months from that unveiling. Wow.

The new date for the NY Auto Show is August and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they just reveal it there. Manufacturing plants are not going back until at least May 1st if that doesn't get extended. Between a shift in the economy and current inventory levels waiting until then isn't off the table im sure. TLX was supposed to arrive in July originally and I'm told the manufacturing plant isn't even retooled yet. If this drags on to mid may or first of June there may be no private reveal but just another auto show.
GM announced today the 2021 Traverse MMC will now be a 2022 model. It was supposed to debut later this year. I wouldn't be surprised if other car companies followed suit with similar announcements.

I haven't read every article so some of these details have probably been mentioned elsewhere but at least this one gives me a little better idea on trim levels and timelines:
"For starters the 2021 Acura TLX is reportedly going to switch to a new platform that will give the TLX better handling than the current generation. The standard TLX will be powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the Honda Accord. The four-cylinder will be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive will be optional."
"The more exciting option is the new TLX Type S, which will be powered by a new turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that will have a big horsepower increase over the current 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6."
https://www.thetorquereport.com/acur...-3-0l-v-6/amp/
So yeah with the current world situation I don't see any real chance of me getting into this model until probably 2022 (and I am not even sure that I want a Type-S because it's not very useful in my situation) and I had planned on getting something else way before then so for now this can't be on my radar.

Interesting article from Motor 1 as well. I wonder if Acura is going to give specs and information about the Type S when the base launches? I hope they don't hide everything to a later launch so it won't hurt the other sales.

Me and my wife were talking about this before. We won't be getting one until at least 2024. We'll both have paid off cars. Right now, we're still stuck on if we want an SUV. Lol. She's thinking either the RDX or the Passport. If they come out with an RDX Type S, I'll let her get the RDX and I'll get the TLX. We'll see though.

Who would buy a 1st year Acura anyway? I made that mistake with the 2015 TLX. Won't do that again. If I buy another Acura at all that is. Our cars are both paid off as well, I'm just an interested bystanding in this. My next car purchase is planned for 2022. It will be a new car market by then.
And this doesn't look too good for Acura:

Seems like the cancellation of the NY show worked in their favor, if they still aren't ready to reveal anything. Had they been prepared for it, an intro video, special page on acura.com, press release, etc. would've all been ready to go and usable for an online reveal already. That is, unless they're using the opportunity to squeeze more info in...e.g. Type-S stuff. Guess we'll never know for sure, but I'm still not holding my breath...

No new info, but the 2nd article in a week from a mainstream site: https://www.autoblog.com/2020/04/13/...ged-v6-type-s/
I wonder if they have embargo dates already in place with the media.

First post here... I've been following this thread for a while (since November) because I am excited about the 2021 Type S. It will most likely be my next car if price/performance is right.
But my 2 cents for what it's worth... Acura was slated to host the Long Beach Grand Prix this weekend so I wouldn't be surprised if we start to hear something official within the next couple of weeks from Acura or other credible news outlets.
