2021 Acura TLX vs The Competition

idk, I was talking about the type s. I reference the regular tlx because they used the a6 with them but switched to s4 for type s. Obviously you need to do some thinking On ur own to figure it out.

LOL wow this car competes with the A6 and 5-Series? Seriously? This car's interior space lags behind that of the compact segment, let alone the midsize. Interior quality is competitive with the compact competitors but falls behind when compared to the midsize. Compact/midsize/fullsize isn't just size, after all. Delusional much?

LOL this clown has to be a troll right? This is bordering on SSFTSX's level of stupidity, I don't even know where to begin.
Next thing you know the conversation is going to shift to turning radius.

Elin, I don't know why you will have "gas anxiety". I know how much gas I have all the time and if I get below 1/2 tank or less, I go to the gas station. Never in my life (I'm 75) had I run out of gas. If drivers run to cars to near empty, then too bad for them.

1) The TLX has less cabin space than a Civic. That's 98cuft compared to 93cuft. That's not just my opinions; that's literally what the car is official measured at per the EPA. 93cuft puts it squarely into the compact class.
2) It has a tad less rear legroom? Please. It has 2.5" less than the A6, 1.8" less headroom, and 1.5" less shoulder room. That's pretty substantial when your main argument is "durrr the TLX is wide like a midsize so it's a midsize durrr".
3) Interior quality is subjective but yeah you've never been in a midsize luxury car have you? Material quality is higher, featureset is richer, sound deadening is better, etc.
4) If the TLX competes with the midsize, then what is the old RLX? Are you going to now claim the RLX competes with the full-size? Or that the new TLX replaced the RLX?

I think it goes something like this:
TLX_2.0T = A4 or A5-SportBack
TLX_2.0T Advance = A4 Prestige or A5-SB Prestige
TLX_V6 Type-S = S5-SB
You can get A5 and/or S5 as 2-Dr Coupes if you would rather.
A6/S6 is about the same size (length), but more of a luxury family sedan. Due to prices (and things like back-seat room), not really in same ball-park.
Yeah mid-to-upper Audi, BMW, and Lexus are not cheap, but they aren't meant to be. For some of us, cost/value isn't highest deciding factor in buying a new car.

Not SSFTSX. Reminds me of a guy who would race his Type S just to impress the pretty MILFs and scare the kids.

hah its a hard idea for them to grasp. I guess u have to make that decision for yourself so it’s kind of difficult. What I’m trying to figure out is why these people either A . Own an Acura or B. Are on an Acura forum if they have no interest in one other than regurgitating other peoples thoughts as their own. All of a sudden it’s about how someone cares immensely about how many gallons of gas their car holds. That’s the negative. It’s like pulling at straws. Go buy a suburban.

For all you drag racing addicts, it looks like you are in for a treat with JB4 (I personally wouldn’t do a piggyback tune on a car like this unless ECU can’t be unlocked, but stock power is plenty for me).
Additional power was squeezed out with some more beta testing. 392whp/403wtq so far.

Still, the numbers are pretty good. Somebody really needs to swap out for a larger turbo and see what it can do. Also, was this an otherwise completely stock vehicle, or did they have other mods on it? And it would also be nice to see how this translates into the real world ... can the driveline take the increased power? I'm equally as interested to know the limits of the drivetrain as much as the power potential of the engine.

a) Said they race around their residential street while MILFs wet their panties on their lawn as they blast pass
b) Come out to crowds of people in parking lots with wives saying, "honey, this is the car I wanted!"
c) Have 200k+ vehicles in their stable, but see the TLX-S as a formidable vehicle with even the Porsches of the world
... and now we have this guy.

Where the heck are they getting those numbers from? The end shot doesn't show either of those numbers. Top HP run was 388wHP. Top TQ run put down 416wTQ. Also, these runs were under STD Correction Factor ... SAE is accepted as the gold standard and generally read lower.
Still, the numbers are pretty good. Somebody really needs to swap out for a larger turbo and see what it can do. Dyno looks like a number of runs all with whatever is on the engine being the same run to run. What's missing in the pure stock baseline to see what the JB4 is adding. Its getting variable brand to brand what they can get out of the device as the car companies get better at locking down the computers. Some engines are also getting the rated power closer to the WHP than in the past. Z4 runs Rated 382BHP dynos stock @ 399WHP base line. JB4 stock on Map1 only generates 428whp. Needs hardware & E40 to make the 490WHP max so far.

The torque gains across the board look pretty good (at least, it did on their previous tune), so no doubt he car is going to pull harder. I just wonder if it's going to feel like it runs out of steam at the top end, given the car runs out of revs so quickly. Torque curve looks promising so far, but we'll see what happens with the final tune.

This forum is wild now and I feel that it is because Acura flopped and these boosters just can't accept it. I rarely see anyone bashing these cars just to do it and most express opinions that are based on facts and these folks lose it and then shift the goalposts. In the MDX-S thread forumers want me banned because I said it's nice but another disappointment and overpriced for what it is and didn't live up to the hype either

as much as y’all want to dismiss the a6, 5 series , etc. comps and live by ur more far fetched 3series, IS, etc comps, it won’t make it anymore true

Be useful if someone with a Type-S could list the RPM drop at each shift point.

"Limited run" aka it will be marked up like crazy. I like the idea of this vehicle but can't imagine it will do well if it's too far out of whack, as the Civic is a worthy internal competitor. And speaking of it is interesting to see that Acura kept the interior very Honda-like and in turn now much different than the rest of the lineup.
Glass half-full outlook: they spent all their development budget on the Type- S powertrain to give us a Civic Type R with SH-AWD.
Glass half-empty outlook: they had very little budget, so they spent minimal dollars dressing it up, changed the front grill, slapped on an Integra badge for nostalgias sake, and called it a day.

Yeah, I though he said he would never get one, then somehow blamed his daughter. I’ve owned two BMW cars and three BMW motorcycles, so it’s not like I’m a hater. But I’ll never cave and buy one with an Edsel grill. I’d be afraid the ugly would get all over my over vehicles in the garage. Don’t have any kids so I could not blame them either. My cat would hock up all over it and my dog would pee on the wheels when I try to take him to the groomer in it.

Yeah, hated it when I saw the first pictures of it. Had planed on waiting for one but after the pictures bough the Z4 M40l. Then a year or so later saw one in person & thought its not so bad. Got to drive a M4C Coupe for a few hours, unlike the TLX-S that they would not even open it up to sit in, the ride sealed the deal. Ordered the car. Best car I have ever ridden in or drove. Daughter was its champion & she was right.
