Isn't that the new e-tron? Way out of my price range and I really prefer an ICE car. We may be forced to go with an electric vehicle at some point (and seems like not too long) unfortunately. Maybe they solve the battery charging time issue but I have never been tempted by electric cars.

As for the HUD mine only displays current speed, speed limit and cruise control speed. As for the other stuff I keep it on but the audi pre-sense can go off once in a while but never had it engage any system at all. One of the problems I had with the TLX was every once in a while the "emergency" braking would kick in when passing a stopped car that was making a left turn and I was going around to the right. Nearly got me rear ended as it brought the car to a stop and a middle finger from the guy behind me.

My lane assist in the Audi works but the Acura lane assist was super smooth to the point that you couldn't keep it in the center of your lane any better if you were steering the car yourself. The Audi, at least mine, is more of a correction as it gets closer to the lane line and then brings it back. Maybe I need to look into the settings. The Acura was amazing at lane control on a long trip when you just get tired and let it take over so to speak. If you took your hand off the wheel it disengaged as it should.

My standard HUD is speed limit, actual speed, tach bar + navigation when in use. Have a thumb wheel on the steering wheel to bring up other stuff usually my song list. A menu of items can be automatically directed to the HUD when active like phone calls, messages etc but I leave them for the main center screen.

Not even sure I can display that extra stuff or if I would turn it on if possible but the more options available the better. I tend to over rely on the uniden R7 and don't pay too much attention to my actual speed. Even putting the navigation widget in the main display I have not really used much. The other setting is a large nav display in the drivers display on the digital dash is neat but a bit too much, looks like something a spaceship would have on a spaceship (having it on the tablet center display is more the normal for me). Typically go with tach/speedo/oil temp and fuel economy/range info in the main display but do change the digital dash display now and then to other variations. The HUD and digital dash are definitely really nice features to have. The variations available within each display is pretty extensive and I do tend to toggle them some. Very surprised Acura hasn't gone to the digital dash, unless I am mistaken. The only analog gauge I think is better is fuel level but I generally fill up before 1/4 tank.

I agree, my 20 Q8 does not respond as well as my Honda Clarity, it seems like it was calibrated for the late response. I have played around with the VCDS and there is an option for an early response but I haven't tried that yet. Maybe I should look into that when I have time and see how the car reacts.

Yeah, a lot of people are not aware of that. The Japanese Supra is built in Graz, Styria, Austria at the Z4 plant. Much like the Boxster/Cayman duo. The Z4 is the roadster & the Supra is the Coupe. Platform BMW Cluster Architecture - Engine 1998 cc BMW B48 turbo I4 or 2998 cc BMW B58 turbo I6 - Transmission 8-speed ZF 8HP automatic

I don't think he cares what few of us here think. He's got over 4 million subs and makes over $50K a month. You read that right. He's a millionaire but he plays the crazy drunk mechanic because it feeds into the stereotype and nostalgia.

I didn't know so many people don't like him ahahah!

I honestly don't watch his videos, I did this just for fun as many people praise German cars, so I said let's change the topic and share this one no bad feeling!

I've seen some of his vids - he's kind of amusing - like Krusty the Clown amusing - but zero credibility. Seems completely unaware of the upward strides Audi has made in QC in recent years. Even Consumer Reports has acknowledged that the A4 is reliable.

German cars have been good for the past 10 plus years or so, especially Audi. Yes, they do have their kinks but because their cars are packed with leading techs and crap-load of sensors. Also, a lot of their cars are turbo-charges which young people tend to tune them and in return, their reliability will be affected. It goes the same with the new Accords + Civics, young folks will have issues with their trannies and engines (including turbines) if they haven't already. For those that baby their cars, most of the cars of any brand will last for a long time.

As for praising German's cars, I don't know how to explain it to you, but I had shared this before and I am sharing this again. My in-law is a Honda person and he has been with 7 Hondas. The latest Hondas that still park in his driveway are 14" Accord V6 and 2019 2.0T Accord. But recently, my wife and I wanted to get him something for his 70s BD and I brought him to the Acura dealership to test out the A-Spec RDX. Long story short, he ended with the 2021 Audi Q5. As I said, there's something about German cars, it's hard not to love them.

Did your father-in-law comment at all about the RDX's infotainment? It's much harder to force an older person to "retool" their brain to use such a system, IMHO.

The only negative thing was he wished it has a touch screen, but then it was only a test drive. I did notice that it would be hard for him to go through the menu if he ever. The bigger surprise was that he picked the Q5, my wife and I still talk about that when we talk about cars.

Perhaps it was a bucket list brand for him?

I don't think he ever likes German cars, but what changes him is still a mystery to us and loving his Q5.

For me, there's a love and hate about these new luxury cars. They have so many sensors that it scares you every time a BIG ASS warning on your dashboard. I had to leave my Q8 overnight at the dealership because I stuck in the mountain for so long without a cellphone signal and the SOS just stays red. Or one of my electronic open and soft-close doors keeps getting warnings (until it clears itself out) from we are not used to it.

Another explanation is the Audi was a birthday present as opposed to him shelling out the dough!

We're all likely to reach some form of singularity at some point, especially given that technology seems to grow at an accelerated pace. My parents and inlaws (70s) don't see any need go any further than an iPhone 5/6, lack of Apple support notwithstanding. (They'd probably hide in a cave at the sight of any Samsung phone debuting in the past few years.) As long as they can continue to make calls, retrieve voice mails and occasionally text, everything else is just bells and whistles to them.

ICE is likely no different.

I test drove that - Lexus can keep that overpriced. With that money I can buy a GTR and smoke the damn thing day and night lol there’s like 4 of them across Canada and no one is buying them. Even the dealership I reviewed the car from still has it even after 5 months since the arrival. Looks nice, is a head-turner but drives like OK. R35 all day long

agreed! That’s why I posted it since people always complain about the TLX. I am sure the type S will smoke this at half price.

Any news about Type S Sam?

Ohh that will be hot - I have 3 drags booked with the TLX Type S, my contact guy has 2 clients with brand new ones. One against the C43, stinger GT and M340i. Waiting any minute for them to arrive

Any news about Type S Sam?
Delusional much? The Type S won't even "smoke" a regular RC-F, both on a track or at a dragstrip.

This RCF is slow as fck man. And being a rwd, it could potentially loose initially to the Type S and maybe catch up. But for 120k cdn Lexus can keep the RC F - I will take the Type S and save money to go on vacation after the lockdown of course :p

You do realize that the regular RC-F costs $65K USD, right? In any case, must be nice to drive so many fast cars that a car that does 0-60 in 4.3 and the quarter mile in 12.7 is considered "slow as fck". What would that make the Type S? If the Type S ends up being slower (which by all means it likely will be) will you be calling out the Type S for being "slower than fck"?

I think we are talking about the RCF from the video posted which is more than 65k. The Type S will do 0-60 within 4.4 to 4.5 and won’t cost 65k, low 50s. I said the standard TLX can be faster on my review. I don’t know how the type s will be, I should find out soon, but my initial thoughts are, it will be quick. I am looking forward to drag race it and review it. If it’s slow, I will admit it as I usually do. Lexus rc f track edition is 120k canadian which makes it a terrible choice over a GTR.
