LMAO If that's the case Germans are in the same boat. My S5 has every package (dynamic steering and sport diff +++) and my previous Type S was a better handling car. Main issue is weak top end. The S5 pulls hard where Type S falls on its face due to weight and not enough hp. This thing needs at minimum 400 hp.

Best to look a the overall consensus (good driving dynamics, good value) and drive the car for yourself.

More power (and/or a usuable rear seat) would solve two of the three biggest complaints about the car. One of those cons I could probably live with, but once you start stacking all those up, not so much. Shame, because I otherwise really liked the car.

I watched like 4 reviews in the last 2 days. They are all good regardless of their opinion. We all know there is no prefect car, unless you want to pay $200K. For a $50-60K car, the TLX offers a lot! It has its flaws but that's fine....I was driving RX350 the other day for an extended period of time, Lexus sells over 100K units. The best Luxury vehicle sold in North America. No one has ever given the RX a challenge but yet, I found out that the car is extremely small inside, getting in and out is difficult and doesn't handle well at all. Cherry on top, the infotainment is a disaster! Good luck driving and changing radio station.
Back to the TLX: Still over 16K people bought the it and if not all, most are happy with their purchase and enjoying it. As usual, I will say it again, buy what pleases you. Everyone is different. Enjoy the amazing reviews of the TLX

what’s interesting is none of the reviews claimed the car needs more power. It’s seems like the low end torque really pulls the car forward. Two years ago I drove the type s and the s5 back to back and the type s felt quicker around 1500-3000 rpm. I also think people are over reacting to the rear sit as it is literally one about an +/- < 1in difference though out the segment.

People's reactions are highly influenced by what segment they think the TLX is (doesn't help that Acura purposefully hedged b/w the "compact" and "mid-size" segment w/the TLX). Folks that are fine with the interior volume were in the "compact" market and may eventually find the car's exterior more difficult to park and grossly fuel inefficient against the field. Folks loving the size of the exterior may come from the "mid-size" market and come to complain about the interior volume (as we know some owners have done) and fuel economy still. When I had my A-Spec, the interior reminded me quite a bit of a prior C-Class's rear seat tightness but the C-Class was easier to park. The A-Spec took about as much space in the garage as an older E-Class but the interior of the Mercedes was relatively cavernous. I think it takes a certain individual to embrace what the TLX is and what it isn't!
Hindsight being 20/20, I don't think the TLX's exterior could have been any smaller. Acura knew they had the Civic Type R -> Integra Type S in the pipeline so a smaller exterior would have encroached on a car w/nearly zero R&D costs. The decision to make a "rear-wheel drive looking" car w/none of the benefits (reviewers all over have said same) has produced a car that may challenge long-term ownership. As the TLX starts to finish out its current gen up to MY26, time will tell if Acura hedged correctly or if it will one day become a footnote in future MBA courses.

for those of you who hate the trackpad, it appears Acura is getting rid of it and adapting a new touchscreen display. I hope this will translate to the tlx next year.

[QUOTE=ELIN;16922533]Clearly fans of the TT interface are in the minority![/
minority or majority! It needed updating. It’s literally the only car in 2024 without a touchscreen. The mind boggling part of it all it the trackpad doesn’t even function as it was designed to in CarPlay.

As for the power, my main complaint is that it feels like the car runs out of steam towards the top of the rev range. It already has a relatively low redline, but above 5K RPMs it feels like there’s not much more power left, whereas the B58 and EA839 keeps pulling hard.

I may be in the minority, but there are aspects about the current setup that I like over touchscreens. Placement on the dash in line-of-sight is perfect, I find it easier to select certain objects while driving due to the edges around the touch pad, and no fingerprints. The only times where a touchscreen would help is with entering addresses (although voice to text is better than both), and for looking around the map (rare event).
It's also not a huge deal (for me at least), since I'm not using it much while driving since I can do pretty much everything with the physical controls.

It's clear now that Acura is moving up...First of all, they increased their pricing (still cheaper than Germans), second they streamed line their trims, third they are bringing new partners with big names like B&O and finally, they are adding more standard equipment. It's great move...looking forward to the new changes and a new SUV is coming. Stay tune!

The TrueTouch system is usable/livable when using the native UX, but as soon as you use CarPlay it all goes to hell. You can no longer just touch the pad positionally and it instead turns into a scrolling/swiping affair that forces you to look for what’s highlighted on the screen to know where you are. With a touchscreen, you can still rely on peripheral vision and the spatial placement of things to press it without having to take your eyes fully off the road.

Yes, absolutely agree with that. I used AA for a bit, but for regular use, the native UX works fine. The only time I consider using AA is for longer trips where Google Maps might be more reliable with traffic and routing. But yes, a touch screen works much better than the touch pad for that.
Which, of course, means Acura definitely won't do it.
#2831
Same for BMW, except it's a rotary dial instead of a trackpad. Despite having a touchscreen, I've touched it maybe twice in a bit over a year!

Some amazing news was released today. Honda/Acura well done and keep up the great work! 2023 was good and 2024+ will be AMAZING!

One review of the 24 Type S TLX I recently watched, raved about the car. Then the idiot got to the infotainment and said "because of this alone, I can't recommend this car". Seriously??? WTF are this guy's priorities? Here's the link:

Acura
- Acura will begin sales of the all-electric ZDX SUV in early 2024, with customers placing the transaction 100% online through an all-new omni-channel retail experience. Customers can begin placing orders for the ZDX starting in February.
- The MDX SUV, the brand's best-selling model, will receive significant enhancements including styling changes, the addition of Bang and Olufsen premium audio, a new technology interface featuring Google-built in and a more advanced AcuraWatch™ suite of driver assistive features. MDX also will trade its touchpad for a new touchscreen driver interface and a more usable center console.
- The RDX will receive upgrades to enhance its appeal and functionality.
- An all-new Acura crossover will debut later this year, positioned at the gateway of the lineup alongside the Integra.
User interface is very subjective but personally I prefer touchscreen, nice to see Acura joining Honda.
Curious what the RDX will get and probably the little crossover will be based on the HRV which will probably be popular and successful (little luxury SUV's are a good starter market)

For me, as someone who uses Apple CP extensively, the change to Acura's interface has not been terribly jarring. Let's face it, though - for any infotainment system there is a learning curve, from the simplest touchscreens to the more complicated trackpad systems. None of them should be deep-dived into while on the move. Reviewers bitching about infotainment ease of use are bitching about an ease of use that isn't intended by the automaker in the first place. Taking one's eyes off the road is a distraction, yes - but so is thinking about fiddling with infotainment while driving and trying to hunt around blindly while keeping eyes peeled firmly to the road. You're seeing the road, but not really SEEING it because you are thinking about something else. That's a distraction too. When reviewers like Consumer Reports and many others continually gripe "infotainment is needlessly complicated, requiring the driver to take their eyes off the road too often", to me, that's a gripe that should be directed at the driver, not the car. And I also think their reviewers copy/paste that quoted line into their review of every single Lexus also - it's a tiresome mantra with them.

The simple fact of the matter is most people don't like the TT interface and Acura is doing something about it and rather than waiting for the MDX gen to end, they are doing something about it now. Bravo, Acura!

They also trademarked ADX. I'm thinking they're going to lean towards the that instead; C might be too close to the CR-V, or give people the impression it's a Compact (maybe that's a good thing?), whereas A would match up with GLA/A-class and feels more "athletic" than C. It's angular and sleek, whereas C is round and chubby.

I was reading now: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...suv-confirmed/
It will be ADX and not CDX.
