TLX in the wild... and new pics

shenanigans
You'd better be careful... you're going to get tons of backlash for expressing any unfavorable criticism of the brand... lol
In any event, 2017? My prediction is that they will do so by the 2016 model year... There were previous rumors that by the 2016 model year there will be many changes for the lineup including jewel eye headlights for ilx and rdx, and an awd option for ilx... then introduction of NSX so on and so forth. I figure they would tweak the beak at that time?? I sure hope so for their sake... shouldn't wait too much longer to kick things up a notch... not sure why they'd want to wait until 2017 if they're trying to do an overhaul.
Additionally on a different topic... LA Autoshow, November 2014. It has been announced that Acura will be debuting a new model... Any thoughts on what that might be??? Thoughts that come to mind:
1. RLX SH SH-AWD (I hope this isn't their idea of debuting a brand new model though)
2. A coupe???? CLX??
3. Production NSX?
4. CUV?
5. TLX Type S???
I want to make a new thread for predictions... but I dunno where to put it. I'd love to hear other's predictions of what it may be.

Plus if it was the CLX or SUV-X, we would've seen spy shots by now if they were debuting in 3 months.

I'm so glad you guys are loving it. I posted it to the TSX, 3G and 4G TL Facebook pages and I was swamped with likes and Comments. I think I got up to 70 likes on the 3G post alone. I had to turn notifications off. lol so many people thought it was real.

I don't want to rain on the parade but there is enthusiasts community reality and there is real world reality. In the former, you would think that the majority of the population would want to drive manual and have every elements of their car blacked out. In the real world reality, the taste and priorities of the masses are very different. The TLX was designed for the masses. So while the huge rims look nice, most people may not like the ride comfort (or lack thereof). Similarly, while the details near the fog lights are cool, most owners may not like having to clean and dislodge dirt and mud stuck in those narrow gaps.

RLX SH already "debuted" last year, and an ILX or RDX MMC doesn't seem worthy of "global debut". My bet's on the production NSX or TLX-S since they'll be sold "globally". And since they were already working on those two, they couldn't have had the resources to work on anything else completely different.
Plus if it was the CLX or SUV-X, we would've seen spy shots by now if they were debuting in 3 months.

My guess is the ILX MMC will definitely be there with the good possibility of the Acura version of the HRV in concept/prototype form and with an Acura name- this the global debut. The NSX will be the same one we've been seeing.

Well we don't know, as far as I can tell, that they are actively working on a TLX-S. The NSX production model probably won't debut until the Detroit Auto Show. We do know that the SUV-X is going to be sold in China but it's just been rumored for the States. My guess is if we see it now it won't hit dealers until probably a year from now (2nd half of 2015 kind of deal) especially since they'd build it in Mexico and they are still getting that factory up to speed and have to get the HR-V started still. And the ILX MMC is a big deal: it hasn't met expectations and sold poorly. Also if it has the 1.5 turbo in it then it's definitely worthy of a global debut tag.

The production NSX will be different than the concepts we've seen, more like the one that caught fire recently at the Nurburgring with the larger side scoops. The designers have also gone on record saying the production version will be even better than the concepts.

Nobody's objecting to keeping the TLX the way it is now for the masses, what the "enthusiasts" here (and perhaps elsewhere) want is a sportier TLX with more aggressive features. Something that would compete with the 335i M-Sport, S4, etc. The 2G and 3G both offered a Type-S model (and SH-AWD for the 4G), why not the 5G?

IDK if this has been posted yet, but I really liked it. I actually found it on clublexus, ironically, which I ended up on clublexus from clicking a link from here. Apparently the TLX has caught the interest of Lexus owners as well.

With all due respect -- who is that commercial speaking to? Do you think it'll make anyone want to go out for a test drive? What demo/psycho is it targeting? What is it really saying? Does it really show the TLX in a flattering light? That's my problem with Acura -- the muddled messaging. Finally, the Sex Pistols were a cynically "manufactured" band created by Malcolm McLaren. The lead singer on "My Way" (Sid Vicious) stabbed his girl friend to death in NYC. I hate that Acura would introduce a beautiful new car with a commercial like this.
Compare to commercial introducing the 2014 IS. It knows who it is talking to -- the exact same audience Lexus said it was targeting with the redesign. Hell, just looking at Taylor Godfrey (the girl) made me want to drive my car. "The 2014 Lexus IS -- It's your move." IMO a great commercial.

RandonRon thanks for posting that walkaround. The TLX looks really good in white. I'm definitely a big fan of the Jewel Eyes as well as the LED foglights. The fogs definitely stood out to me.
Glashub, that Lexus commercial is ok. I guess I liked the TLX commercial I posted a few posts up, because it actually caught my attention. The other commercials are ok. This new one actually showcased the car more plus, to me, it went along the lines of "It's that kind of thrill" more compared to the other commercials Acura has came out with recently. Watching a car speed around a track, briskly take on city streets, pulling a 180° degree spin through standing water, watching a driver slam his helmet into the pavement in one scene, and even watching how Acura tested the car in various conditions caught my attention. Definitely more emotion in this commercial.

Meant no offense. Clearly I have opinions I guess because I'm in marketing and one thing I've learned is that marketing is not an exact science. Maybe I'm just a sucker for cute girls.

Glashub,
Indirectly, Acura targets whoever wants to be targeted. I look at the Lexus commercial and think of some Victorian ballroom couple running to their horse-drawn carriage. Or the aristocracy trying to escape the plebeians and mumbling "let them eat cake" while they make their getaway. In the Acura commercial, I just see a bunch of people having a good time - if you want to be a part of the commoners having fun, buy the damn car!
Ok, I'm possibly overthinking this ... but I think I'm buying the damn car. I shall eat cake.

There is nothing about that Lexus ad that makes me want to drive one. Obviously they are targeting a different age group than I am. It says to me that rich, young, party goers will want one and not to regular, hard and non-hard working folks.. *shrug*

I agree. We (the family) were watching TV and the Acura My Way commercial came on last night on TBS and my Wife and 18yr old daughter both looked at me with a WTF look and said that didnt make them want to watch the commercial, let alone go look at the car (though i did make the wife go look at it and she likes it).

And the barely able to understand rock of Sid Vicious makes the Regular Hard working folks want to?? The commercial was put together very well IMHO, BUT i think a little better choice of music should have been used.

Lexus introduces a new car and its agency creates a commercial that conveys a message of beauty, mystery, uniqueness, and aspiration. It’s a beautiful and haunting fantasy targeting millennials who are still in the “romantic” stage of life. Taylor Godfrey’s face becomes the face of Lexus and it is a haunting face indeed. Right or wrong – sex sells and that is a sexy commercial with fantastic cuts to the car from its best angles.
I look at the Acura commercial and I get quick unsettling cuts, CGI, and don’t really get to appreciate the car until late in the commercial. I get it – Acura is saying we screwed up, we’ve learned, we’ve put our best resources into this car, and we don’t toe the “auto” party line. But do you think anyone who doesn’t visit Acurazine is going to understand that? Or are they going to say, WTF was that all about?”

Sorry, the forum wouldn't let me edit the post above and apologize for the weird font.
A person shouldn't have to be an auto "insider" to get a commercial.
Finally, I've sat in on casting sessions. There are a 1000 girls as pretty as this Taylor Godfrey but the agency and Lexus saw something in her that conveys something they want conveyed. It's not like she's pretty -- lets go with her. It's all part of reaching to a demo/psycho -- young people who would never consider a Lexus over a BMW. Acura introduces a truly beautiful and magnificent car and we get Sid Vicious.
There's a reason Lexus is considered an elite brand -- commercials are a big part of it. The last great Acura commercial I remember? The one where a chasing dog runs into the back of a stopped TL with the voice over -- "It looks fast".
