Just renewed about 10 mins ago. Had to go through the cancel department. Dude gave me an initial price that I rejected before he offered the $77/year. I wonder if I had rejected that if it would have gotten any cheaper? Hmmm...

$21.79 "U.S. Music Royalty Fee"

Anyone seen this yet? I just received an invoice dated June 23 which adds this extortion on top of the $155.40 annual subscription. I've been getting the $77/year for four years, and I'm getting ready to re-up again. But this is the first time I've seen this new fee.

Also, when I called in to renew for this radio (wife's 2007 Odyssey), I was offered $20 for three months. I just took it because they were making me work too hard for the annual deal.

I need to call back soon and I'm wondering if I can still get the $77 deal in light of this new Royalty fee. We'll see.

Hi, I am a new member, I have a 2006 ACURA TL w. navigation. I bought this car 3 months ago and signed up for XM monthly at 14.95. Today I called to cancel and at first they offered me 3 months free, I asked about the $77 dollar promotion and the guy said SURE, we can give you that, no code needed anything... at first I agreed thinking it wasn't going to work but it went through, they charged me 80.88 with taxes for service until July 1 2010.

You should call today and cancel or ask about this promotion, there's no code, but hurry since the new royalty fees will kick in next month, good time to lock in a good rate at least for the next year.

Thanks!!

Hect0rr from Houston TX.

Man, what a f'ing trip. My sub was due to expire in a few days, so I called to cancel. They tried (aka "tried") to transfer me to the cancellation dept, but I got hung up on. Called back using the number suggested in the first post, and got hung up on again. I called a third time and this time was successful in getting transferred to the cancellation dept. At first he was going to let me cancel, and the CSR said he was going to put me on hold. He came back and magically said that he could offer me the same rate as last year. Phew! 5th year running now!

Think I'm on my third year for $77. Called today, I expire tomorrow. Called to cancel because it's too expensive, they said I was eligible for another year of $77. Said sign me up!

Be sure and do it before the end of the month so you don't have to pay royalties.

I was able to get the $77 deal today for the next year by calling 800-XM RADIO and telling them that I was going to cancel my service because it was too expensive. They immediately offered to renew it for the next year for the $77 rate. Nice!

Just got off the phone with XM. The first rep said the $77.00 promotion was no longer available, but when i once again said i was letting my subscription expire, she switched me over to another rep. When i told her the same thing, she immediately said that i could pay what i paid last year, and if i call them before July 21 2010, they will do that again!
I guess a half-price subscriber is still better then losing that subscriber altogether!

I don't think that Canadian Acuras have satellite radio because it's too far north. But, yes, it works; they don't know where you are and don't care.

My subscription expires 8/5. I just called to ask them not to automatically renew. Said because of the economy I'm cutting back on expenses and don't listen to XM enough to justify the expense. Before I could finish, the CSR said they would be happy to offer me a renewal at the same special rate I received last year, $77.

When I had called in the past, I was connected to a call center in India and transferred back and forth to different departments. This time I spoke to only 1 person (in Texas) and call took only a minute or 2.

After letting XM expire on both my TL and wife's Ody and ignoring the cards sent in the mail, XM called me on my cell phone and offered 5 months at $3.99/month each. I figured $40 for both cars was a decent deal. I took it via invoice so they don't try to pull any fast ones at expiration time. I'll see what additional options are available then.

I used the $77 promotion two years in a row. The third time they offered me 5 months for $20. That offer is about to expire, so I called customer service to "cancel" again. It took two calls to get through to the cancellation department, but finally the cancellation agent offered me a renewal of the $20 deal (she referred to it as the "5-for-20" plan). I took it. I don't know how long they'll keep doing this, but the effective rate is $48/year. The only downside is having to call them every 5 months.

Just got 5 months for $19.99......no script, no code. Just forward assertiveness in my "businessman" voice, lol. I dropped XM since 2007 so they wanted to charge me activation fee.....No sir please waive that. Thank you!

Hey guys, I'm new to XM radio. I'd like to get it for my 3rd gen TL. I've found the number to call but do I need any numbers from my car so they can set it up? If so, where do I find it. Thanks!

Tune your radio to Channel 0 and it will display your radio ID number. They will need that and your credit card number to start your subscription.

Be sure and review the various scripts given in this thread that are known to be effective. It's not that hard if you follow instructions.

If you want to wing it , you might get lucky. But you're on your own. Good luck.

I Just renewed at $77 but they charged me an additional $11.78 for music royalties. It was better than the $155.98 + $23.76 they were trying to get out of me. I know that I could have held out for the $77 but I thought that I was ahead and wanted to leave it there. Thanks for all the updates and feedback on XM.

So I just called to try my 3rd year in a row for the $77/deal, got transferred to the cancellation department, and the guy offered me nothing, simply said that with the Sirius/XM merger all old promotions are now null and void, but if I got any special offers before my Sept 24 cancellation date to turn it off, I could call back.

So would I be able to call back here in a day or two and say I got the flyer before it's set to expire on 9/24?

I called XM disputing a charge on my account and remembered seeing this thread about the $77 dollar a year promotion, so asked about it. Right away I was asked where I saw the promotion I told him I saw it on a flyer awhile back. When asked for the code I told him that I dont remember or have it and then XM proceeded to tell me that I can't have the $77 price without the code. After he said that I told him since I don't have the code to please cancel my account because $150 a yr was too much money, he put me on hold, came back and honored the $77 a yr promotion. Thanks AZ, the $77 a year totally worked.

Just called, used the number (800-682-4114 ) and Frank at the Call Center asked me about the flyer. I played stupid with "oh I think it was a postcard or flyer" and he asked me when I got it and I played stupid again "oh I don't know, a week or so ago" put me on hold for 5 minutes and came back online and asked if credit card was the same. This is the same script I've used on my TY Type-S 2007 for 3 years now.

I let my XM expire + Is this deal for XM Everything?

Hi All,

I have used this for 3 years now and never paid more than $77, but I let this one expire and ignored it until now. Two Questions?

1) When I call will I now need to pay the extra Royalty fee?
2) Is the deal for XM Everything plus The Best of Sirius?

I already pay full price for my other car, which has Sirius installed and I was hoping to be able to add on XM as a second unit on a single account. They have not yet merged the two systems to the point where I can do this. I would really only be interested in this if I can get The Best of Sirius as well. (Howard Stern).

Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I just renewed and was given the 5 month special rate of $19.99. However the problem is that the rate is only for the xm stations. If you want the Best of Sirius then there is no discount and your must pay the full rate.

I just got my renewal. $186.89/yr for XM Everything plus the best of Sirius then an additional $21.00 in royalty fees for $201.89. Plus I have 2 other radios they want an additional $10 for royalty fee. So I cancelled, and they let me. No offer of additional discount, nothing, just the date my service will end. F*** XM Sirius, they lied about the merger not hurting the consumer.

Hi! I'm a Sirius subscriber and my renewal is coming up this month. Does anyone know if they phone numbers and promos are the same for Sirius? Can I get a $77 deal from them? I have units in two cars (my '02 TL-S and '04 MDX).
Any suggestions for dealing with Sirius?
thx!

I just got the $77 deal.

I called (800) 682-4114 to activate my free 3 month trial as a new owner. After activating the free trial, she offered a number of plans including a 3 year for $3xx and a 1 year plan for $1xx. I told her it was more than I was expecting to pay, since I saw a "flyer" in the glove box from the previous owner that said $77/year. She asked for the code and after telling her zwinback, she gave it to me. So, 3 months free then the next 12 for $77.

Thanks everyone!

Just got a bill for $50 after my year expired (Got the $77 deal last year). Called up and found out I was automatically enrolled in a quarterly payment plan. I asked for the repeat $77 deal and received it. I did have to pay $11 for the "Royalty fee", $88.78 Total bill.. Took 10 min, no issues!

The royalty fee wasn't mentioned, but I'm sure I'll have to pay it. I won't be billed until my 3 month trial expires so I don't know for sure.
