Worked again (my 2nd year)!!
Thanks to OP and all Acurazine posters!
Briefly,
I Called XM's toll free support number.
Spoke to the first rep on the phone; said I would like to cancel.
She transferred me to the cancelation department.
The second rep asked me why I wanted to cancel
and I used the script, saying that the renewal was too expensive. Next sentence from rep was the renew at $77 a yr. offer, which I accepted.
Good to go for another year!

Called last month and got the $77 deal. XM told me they would bill me later. But then they charged my credit card for $92.90 after 9 days.
I just called XM today. The rep said he credited me the difference and gave me a reference number for the credit. I'll see if my credit card gets it tomorrow.

So i got my renewal notice in the mail for XM canada and cost was $169.85 plus taxes, (which is about $14 per month).
I used the script, called them spoke to rep told him i wanted to cancel he said why told him it was too expensive he offered me $125.00 i told him no i want to cancel and the transfered me to the cancellation dept.
Spoke to the girl asked me why told her too expensive and she offer me 1 year at $96 (canada more expensive as usual) but still a good deal so i went for it, Paid the same last year!
This website Rocks! Thanks ACURAZINE!

Just called after realizing they billed me automatically. Waiting for about 15 mins. which i wasnt happy about but i told the 2nd rep that i wanted to cancel. She immediately offered me the one year for $77 without me having to say a word. I think their subscription levels are taking a hit so they are going to offer it to everyone. Thanks again AZine, wouldnt have XM if it wasnt for you guys!!

Just signed up for my first year. Didn't have to transfer, just dealt with the original operator. $77 + $11. Now I read here that if you are persistent they'll eat the $11. Oh well, even with $11, I think it's a great deal.
Was just curious about the Best Of and they can only give it to me for $190 for everything. There's no "upgrade" on top of the $77. I guess they have to pay Howard Stern some how. LOL!

Yep this still works. I just renewed for 77 plus the royalty fees. First rep wouldnt do anything for me. As soon as i got to the cancellation department, I told them it was just way too much for XM which is a luxury not a necessity. Told him I heard that a friend got it for 77 a year and said they would be willing to offer me the same deal. Total took about 15 minutes and was pretty hassle free!

That's damn good I think! I asked when I got the $77 deal how much it would be if I get XM and Best Of. She said the best she can do it $189. I think you can do the math.

I am in Calgary Alberta and I have just spoke with XM. I think I done well.
6 months at $4.99 = $29.94
About 34 with taxes they said.
So thats 68 for the year. Can't go wrong there.
Anyone else get anything better then that in Canada?

XM at home
Does anyone here have an XM receiver/tuner connected to your home sound system separate from the registered car radio? I'm confused about what the subscription costs since I subscribe already for the car. It looks like I also need to buy an XM-ready tuner.

$77 For 1 Year Renewal of XM Service Completed!
All -
November 10th, 2009 was my due date to pay the $170+ dollars. I received an email from XM reminding me that I have missed my payment and that if I do not submit payment soon, service will be turned off.
I called XM and utilized the script in this email thread. No hassle! XM Programming for $77 enabled on my account with an invoice being mailed out for payment. Total is $91 and change (77 + Music Royalty Fee + Tax).
Thank you!

December 14th, not only did it work perfectly, I also called Sirius and told them that I wanted the same deal for my Wife's car based on the fact that Sirius and XM are now one company. Innitally they fed me the same line of BS that they aren't the "same" company since they used different technologies and that it wasn't possible for them to merge my XM and my Sirius accounts together. I asked for a manager, and eventually got connected to an English speaking North American, and I told them that for them to advertise a second radio at a reduced rate and not give it to me regardless of one being XM and one being a Sirius receiver was illegal! I told her that since they both operate under one company name (Sirius XM) that they can't take advantage of the merger when it's convenient for them, then deny the merge when it means discounting a second radio! She offered me the same $77 per year deal on my Wife's Sirius radio! I was happy and renewed both receivers for another year.

I spoke with a friend who is a former XM employee, and he told me they'd rather renew at $77 a year than lose a listener, since having one more listener doesn't really cost much for XM, BUT it allows them to tack on one more listener to their "total subscriber count" which they rely on heavily when they sell advertising and with the stock price tank, and overall subscribership down, they take any listener they can get! With that thought, we're worth more to them as a listener than a canceler!
I've also heard that it's been proposed that they offer programming FREE for a year with a receiver purchase. We'll see if that happens. Also they've spoken about bringing back lifetime memberships too like Tivo!

Area on my XM
Note that my trial period ended 9 months ago, and the $77 offer was still on the table when I checked this afternoon. Came out to $88.78 after taxes and royalty fees. Just with a couple clicks and no hassle. I likey.
$77 was for the XM-radio Everything package (does not include the best of Sirius).

just called to cancel my subscriptions had two radios one was a gift to my brother last year the other was for my TL. Either way i said it was to much transferred me to cancellation department and got offered 4.61 a month for 5 months. that's cheaper than the 77 a year plan. I asked if there was any other fees the lady said NO so i said to do it. I did add NAV. traffic for an other 3.99 a month not sure if i got taken there or not. Either way i just got to remember and cancel after the 5 moths or it will go back to the regular price...

is learning to moonwalk i
I kind of screwed up, but got it to work.
I bought my wife and XM Roady a few years ago, but never installed or activated it. This weekend we took her car on a road trip and finally decided to activate. We were on the road and I forgot to check AZine for the script, so I made the mistake of calling the regular number to activate and they gave me the standard rates (my wife was driving and I called). He said I would need the promotion code but I kept insisting that they could give me the $77/year promotion, with it. He put me on hold a few times and I finally remembered the zwinback code. They still wanted to tack on activation and a few other things. After about 30 minutes of back and forth and holding my ground, we activated it for $77/year with no royalty fees or automatic payment.

$ 77.00 Deal Update
XM-Radio tried to auto renew me at full rate but my card had expired so they sent me a collection notice. When I called them, I stated that I renewed annually not quarterly and that I had been getting the $ 77.00 rate. They called that the "half off-rate" and that I could get that once again, but in the future if I wanted that rate I had to call them when I got my annual renewal and not wait until it expired which is what I did this time. So next year I will try that and see if it works. I did get the half off rate which was good.

Recently got a bill for renewing my 5 year agreement ... $732 !!
Yeah, right, like I'm gonna give them that much at once.
Got the emails and phone calls telling me my service was destined for interruption unless I call them right away.
Finally called today, told them if I have to pay that mucgh right now than cancel my service as $732 is out of the question, so they offered me $23.05 for 5 months. I said done! I then asked about the $77 deal everyone here's been shouting about. They said they're currently not offering that promotion.

That's why we provide you with a script to cut to the chase. This is a quiet program to salvage customers who are leaving. It is obtained by talking to the cancellation department and following the script provided. As you can see from Scotty's post above yours, the program is alive and well... for the time being.
Many of you are not reading the thread/original post and jumping in and winging it. One or two have gotten lucky but most don't. Please be considerate of the people coming behind you. If SiriuisXM mgt. gets word that their "Win Back" program is being touted all over the Internet, they may just kill it as it severely cuts into their profit structure.

If you read this thread, like the Original Post, you will see this is not a "deal" and telling them everyone is shouting about it is a sure way to kill it. The first people you talk to (CSM) don't know anything about it.

$23.05 for 5 months is a good deal but the pain comes when you have to play the game and call them up every 5 months. It's better on a yearly basis as it's easy to remember when your subscription is about to end and you only have to talk to them one a year.
They offered me a 3 month deal which was even cheaper but I held out for the 1 year/$77 one. I rather pay a smidgeon more and not deal with the hassel. Can you imagine calling every 3 months???? Yikes!

36% sounds like a lot but it totals to only $1.81 a month. I guess $1.81/month is not a smidgen (thanks for the correction by the way). It depends on how valuable you time is.

But these prices won't be advertised and probably not even made known to the first level of Customer Service Reps that you get a hold of on the 800 numbers. Usually, these CSMs at all levels have a computer script "tree" in front of them which tells them to say "Y" when you say "X", etc. At the first level, they are listening for the word "cancel". they are then instructed to transfer the call to a "Customer Retention Specialist" also referred to the "Cancellation Department". It is this 2nd tier that has pricing options available to keep you signed up. At this point, there is no additional cost to them to keep you on.... it's just a push of their button on the keyboard. So, anything they can get is better than nothing. There is no direct "Cost of Goods Sold" but strictly overhead operational expenses instead. And those costs are there whether you are a customer or not.
The first tier ppl don't know about these prices because, if they did, they would be handing them out to everyone who calls.
Because they all operate from a script, I have provided a SCRIPT for our members that feeds into their script. As long as you touch all the bases, you get the deal. The SCRIPT touches those bases and provides you with all the right things to say in a nut-shell.
Like everything in life, many of our members don't feel like reading or don't like to follow directions and they take a little info and then figure they can wing it.
Some get lucky. Even a blind mouse gets the cheese once in a while.
