2009 TL Pictures? ***NEW PICS ON PAGE 44***
#1961
After looking at the photo's. Did anyone notice the additional "key hole" on the front passenger door handle? However, the Drivers seems to now have two (2) "key holes". Is this the keyless entry sensor? or....?
Also, I sure hope a set of clubs fits into that smaller looking truck opening. I can barely get them into the trunk as.
Agree with the comments on the air-cooled seats. Must have option at this price level.
The ACURA logo is not embedded into the front bumper. That's a better look.

For $35K-$40K+, I expect some more details, such as an engine cover highlighting/promoting VTEC and 3.5 or 3.7, aluminum pedals, acura or TL logos on the seats, etc. Why leave those off?
They made a nice car and the styling will probably grow on people as you get used to seeing the new models, but they forgot the final touches. Those final touches and details are what would make it really shine.
I guess to get those details, you need a Type-S model for even more $.
I'm looking forward to the 2010 SH-AWD with 6speed manual tranny or perhaps a Type-S model.

Navi Option must include the Rear Lip spoiler in order to incorporate the camera. Picutres of White TL without spoiler also does not appear to have camera.
Also interesting to note the center cup holder is reversed from our current layout. Lower cup holder is towards the rear and higher cup is in front.

You would think that Acura would have changed their grille designs after the horrible reactions to their sedan concept. Instead they decided to continue this monstosity and add it to every model in the lineup!
added: when you really look at some of the pictures it just looks like a bunch of different cars all combined together. you could probably make a list of each part and what car it resembles.

I'm sure Acura reps read this thread religiously, so maybe there's hope for 2010.. I think 2009 is stamped out, so no hope for any last minute changes on it...

Wow I love the interior. It's very refined...hope the Type-S adds a little more spalsh to that interior when/if it arrives.
The exterior needs a few more touches. The character line from the 3G would set this car off in a much more positive direction than the crease.
Also, why is the gas cap round? It doesn't flow well with the rest of the exterior details.

I actually don't like how all the Acura cars are starting to look alike. There is no single visual identity between the cars now. Interior or exterior.
They are like triplets:
RL = mature one with glasses
TL = the jock
TSX = the closer
They all look alike but you can only tell the difference by their behavior and small subtle differences between each other

That being said, the exterior still leaves a lot to be desired. There are far too many lines for its own good. I liked the organic look of the 3G because every line was so smooth and natural, whereas they did a 180* turn on the 4G and made it very bold and well stated. This would have worked if everything blended correctly. Things that really turn me off:
*The lower grilles, seriously....who designed them? The shape looks great, however WTF is up with the arangement of the lights and the actual grille?
*The upper grille....deserves a big WTF because this, IMO, ruins the front end of the car
*The headlights...Look way too plain for a $40k+ vehicle, and they are WAY too high up, which is why I think most are saying it resembles the camry. A different design, similar to the TSX would have been nice.
*The hood line should have gone all the way down to the headlights
*The side profile looks great, although it could use a bit of distinction. The circular gas cover looks like an after thought. The hump over the front wheel well should be more natural IMO.
*The rear is a mess, way too many things going on. For starters, that little piece under the trunk lid looks so out of place. The spoiler looks like the green goblins hoverboard, the reflectors are way too big and attract way too much attention, and I hate how the entire rear profile has all its line energy focusing on the rear license plate. Every line eventually ends up at the plates...why...?

The back of the 4G TL looks like an MDX way to ''big'' looking .. this is a car not an SUV... The new RL looks more like the 2G TL but more modern looking.

Although I really don't like the front grill design of the TL. I think it will still turn out to be sucessful
for Acura. Why? Just try to compare dollar for dollar against anything else. You get a beautiful
interior loaded with goodies. and add sh-awd and it really moves up. I recently went to an Audi
drive event and was shocked to discover that $45k was the price of a loaded up '09 A4 model,
50K with all of the advanced handling features. A loaded FWD Maxima will run 39K, CTS 43K,
again the price could go higher. The AWD Infiniti G35 (or 37) is about 40k or more. So, if you
can get used to the new look, the new TL is still going to be an excellent value.

Woah, the tl is a new kind of ugly. This thing looks like a pig. And i saw an accord interior and this is the same, thats another reason y i will never buy this car. And high 6sec car with 310hp should be be blown up, no kidding. This is the replica of the accord and no one can deny it. Both drive like crap and look like crap. Thank god my my 3g tl.

idk, i saw the '09 tsx online and i thought it was CRAPPP, I saw it a few weeks ago in a showroom and it started to grow on me, hopefully the new TL will too, the interior looks hot, the new dial select input for the nav system is actually faster then touch screen surprisingly

I think roofline looks similar to GS.
Front design will grow , but rear is...hmm... a bit futuristic.
Some needs to pshop some more nice rims and lower it. Since that's the looks of every enthuz.

I like this exerpt from the article posted in #1911:
We’d only note that the folded-edge style is not new, having been introduced several years ago by Cadillac, so it isn’t likely to create any serious issues for Acura, except perhaps for some previous TL owners who might resist the idea of change.

Guys, I like it, I mean, its not mind blowing gorgeous, but then again I could see why they would try to target everyone. Its hard to satisfy the enthusiasts like ourselves and the general buyer like soccer moms and older guys. Only time will tell, the least they could do is offer the 6MT asap.

I really hate to say it...i really do, espectially since i want an 08 TL Type S...but now that the new TSX and TL are out. Their older variants are actually starting to look dated.
The RL is the only one where the older one looks much better. But as someone mentioned, now that the three cars are out..
I think on the RL and TSX i can get around the grille...and to be honest...i'm starting to like all 3. I want to see the TL in black..but something tells me in person, it'll be phenomenal...I know I know. I hated it too, but something about the three of them...it's just...working?
I hate me too, don't worry (hopefully i can pick up a used TL Type S off a lease soon).
But the only thing bothering me on all 3 is that grille...other than that...the cars do look phenomenal...
I thought the same thing when i saw it.

I was looking at the pics from here...
http://www.leftlanenews.com/2009-acu...wd-review.html
and Acura better be making some touch up paint for that "plenum power grille".
That front over hang from the front wheel well to the front point of that bumper is huge. I can see alot of older people not being able to judge that distance and wacking front end of that on something...I see alot of older cadillacs treated that way.
IMO best pic is the last one that show the blue sh-awd rear. That looks sharp..but I can't get past the front. Good luck.
