2009 TL Pictures? ***NEW PICS ON PAGE 44***
#1841
I deleted a post with a really bad picture in it, and sent the poster a PM. It may not have been his fault. This is the second case like this, with one from another poster, so it may be possible that someone is hacking the picture host site. I will know more when I get a reply to my PM.

I saw the below and it pretty summed up the new TL for me:
Pimped-out Camry styling = FAIL!
FWD or FWD-biased SH-AWD drivetrain = FAIL!
5-speed auto tranny only = FAIL!
It looks like Acura has given up on offering a true entry luxury/sports sedan that competes with the G35/335i/IS350.

First, what is up with the ugly silver trim under the trunk lid? That is just fugly!!
I will admit, they got the rear seat headrest right! You can actually see out of the rear window now.
Still not feeling it like I did the 3rd gen. On top of this the loss in fuel economy and no MT! Not going to be my next car!

SH-AWD model tips the scales at 3,986 lbs...
Power-to-weight ratios:
'08 TL Base: 3,636 lbs/258 hp = 14.09 lbs per hp
'08 TL-S: 3,674 lbs/286 hp = 12.85 lbs per hp
'09 TL SH-AWD: 3,986 lbs/305 hp = 13.07 lbs per hp
This does not reflect the additional drivetrain inefficiency of AWD compared to FWD.

If I'm correct, I believe the rear seat headrests can be folded down when they are not in use. I saw something similar in the 09 RL.

Almost sold...
I'm gradually warming to the new TL. The car looks reasonably decent in silver (low contrast between chrome beak and the paint) and the up-sized wheels. It came across well in the kbb video also, which leads me to believe it'll look better in the flesh than in most of the still photos.
I'll definitely hold out for the 6-MT though, plus probably another model year to let me get to 100K miles on the '05 MT-6 that I still love. So, maybe my new screen name will be "4GenTLin11."

The car sounds really good, and I don't doubt it's a sick drivetrain. I just hate the damn exterior. I really like the interior minus the red seats. Ebony looks great. The rims on the FWD model look small and not attractive at all. No manual tranny??????
The AWD model has decent wheels. Weight has always been an issue with Acura. Sorry to say I won't be purchasing this car, nor will I suggest my father get it for his new car to replace his 05 TSX.

I think the new TL looks great. Definitely need to get used to the look. All in all, once these cars hit the road and people start buying them, the 3rd gen will look very dated. I had a 2004 TL and it is was an amazing ride.
It was a very risky move with the beak but Acura needed something....
Every Japanese car has copied the Mercedes grille pattern. Lexus, Infiniti, Hyundai, Kia, you name it. Hyundai is so embarassed of their car heritage they omitted their H logo on the hood of their new Genesis car. Acura didn't do a great job but did something. Sales will ultimately tell the truth.
The TL SH-AWD version will need to sell under $40K...Its made in the US
Once there are positive reviews, they need them, people will embrace the car.

I'm looking forward to the 2012 refresh, I hope they tweak that gril. I loved my 04 and 06, but the 07 refresh especaill the Type-S really gave the 3G some nice styling, sporty wihtou being overly agressive and still stylish. The 2G styling has held up well, so I suspect the 3G will hold up very well. Not sure about this new grill how will it will hold up.

Still prefer the old TL
the headlights looks really sharp, fogs are okay
the car shape itself is starting to be more and more strange?
They should have put all the new technology into the 3G done deal
Acura will dominate market

First off why should the car grow on your? When you got to buy a car, either you like it, or you don't. When I first saw the 3G TL Type-S, I didn't need time for the car to grow on me. Come on man seriously. Why would you need to convince yourself to make yourself like the car?
The 3G TL will look outdated? Wow, this is a pretty dumb statement on your part. Look at all of the negativity already from the 4G TL, a lot of people are disappointed in it. The 4G TL lost a lot of styling it had in the 3G TL. If you think the 3G TL is going to look outdated, your really an idiot when it comes to cars my friend.
It sounds like to me you wish you had the 3G TL, but you really wanted the 4G TL before you saw the pictures. Now that the 4G TL is out, you need to make yourself like the car so you can have the newer version when deep down you really still like the 3G TL over the 4G TL. It's like night and day when looking at the two different generations of the TL. But don't worry, keep telling yourself you like the 4G TL and it will grow on you over time....

SOMEONE FIND ME AN ADDRESS FOR THIS FUCKSTICK:
"Art Osborn leading the exterior design at Acura's new design studio in Torrance California"
E-mail or otherwise so that I can tell him what I think of his high on Cocaine design of the front end of the TL.
From what I read in the autoblog article, he's the one responsible for this car and that disgusting front grill, then they slapped it on the RL to give it a freshening and slapped it on the Euro Accord to call it a TSX and make it blend in with the other 2 acuras here...
In other words, HE'S THE TARGET someone break his fuking wrists and make it so that he can't put pencil to paper again.
You know in all honesty--- I really dont mind this car... until i swoop around to the front, and its just all down hill. THAT GRILL and then he had to make it difficult to replace beacuse it actually spills onto the hood and bumper!
So he's like THE guy for making the face of acura all the ugly it is and is seeming to be.
Will this car sell? sure because over all its a good product, interior is sexy as hell, finally has some balls in the power train (non fwd only) --- but i can't see even 10% of the buyers saying they actually LOVE the front end vs. just accepting it and/or dealing with it!
And the thing that I've noticed most is no mention of a 6spd--- well if this is true, and a Type S never makes it over here with a 6spd I'm done.
All I can hope for now is an MMC with a less hedeous front end and a 6 spd.

No playing movies , no 6 speed trans for auto, power should be more since the G will have 328hp for the sedan. no lane assist, come on acura! i can keep going on and on about the stuff they should have put in the car. I guess this time around i'll either keep my 3g type-s or step up into somthing else that has more feature than acura
actually the 4th gen TL i tihnk was the last new honda/acura product that did that to me.
Maybe the new MDX (i love it, but not many do)

oh, and why does the SHAWD front turn signals not go all the way down to the middle the way the base TL does? it looks so halff assed... i forsee a lotta SHAWD owners swapping base turn signals.

Same thing I asked.. the 3.5 model with the full white lens across looks better, even better if it was smoked!
but.. i just read this in the motor tend review:
".. when you insert a CD, automatically rips the tracks to an on-board 13-gig hard drive for future playback"
