but anyway im half and half about this car. body dosnt look bad, like the sides, but wtf with the hood, reflectors, huge chrome esque trunk bottom and grill thats bigger than rosie?

it COULD look good, but eh, ill wait for the midlife refreshening

anyone thing that the interior looks decent tho? ie in quality?

The grill is fucking HUGE, with every new model they release it gets bigger and bigger. It's terrible. The car otherwise looks really nice. Something has to be done about the grill. What is the point of having a grill that big and ugly?

I think there is a bad trend going on with Honda/Acura. First the new Honda civic; ok exterior, lousy space age interior, New Honda Pilot with the beastly looking grille, the lukewarm looking RL, a step backwards Acura TSX with more weight. Now a questionable looking upcoming TL.

LOL... Yeah, probably a little bit of both.
I reeeeaaaallly want to like this car. I thought that the TSX looks far better in person than it did on paper and I'm hoping this is the case with the TL.
That first promo pic looked really promising and the grill didn't even look half bad. But these latest pix....ugh! The rest of the car, especially the rear though unconventional, is attractive at least IMO. But the front end just looks like they slapped anything on there to make a styling "statement" without thinking what it would do to the overall design.

I'm gonna reserve final judgement until I see one in person....we'll see....

What an odd design choice, why not just include the rest of the chrome on the door?...weird...I'll still have to see this thing in person, but the countless negative comments on here can't bode well for Acura (considering we're the customers). And I still see Camry/Solara when I look at those taillights ... arggg ...

that I DIDN"T wait for the 2009 TL to come out.

I'm NOT impressed with the newly redesigned look.

I've liked the look of the 07-08 ever since I saw it and I'm VERY happy with my 08
TL-S.

I know there will be people out there hawking the all wheel drive, more powerful engine, and whatever new driver features Acura has included in the 09, but only talking about looks...

I don't know that "we're the customers" is exactly true.

Maybe the first of "us" are customers (me being a buyer of a 2004 Acura TL in October, 2003), but what I've found countless times over the past year is the overwhelming number of "Internet fanboys" that can't afford the TL but comprise a majority on the forums.

And based on the cheap verbal shots I've seen here originating from teenagers, I have no reason to believe otherwise...

Cops here in Ohio (state that requires front license plates) are going to love the 09 TL because the huge plenum grille looks like a arrow pointing down to where the licence plate is located. Easy for the cops to aim their laser guns.

Did anyone else notice how many Honda and Acura cars were in that lot? Honda motors golf course? haha

Now for the last pic no one has been talking about the interior, I know the exterior is an epic fail and makes me love my 3rd gen even more.

Notice the doors now have 2 handles where your arm would rest (I don't like)
E-Brake is now moved to the left side. I like how the 3rd gen is more comfortable placed for a big guy like myself
Seats appear to have only 2 stiches where you sit
New white stiching on steering wheel
Back seat no longer has head rests unless its sunken in
and lastly there is a new towel on the dash its functions on the vehicle is yet unknown

i doubt it...... i mean there should be optional grilles for the 09 TSX, but they don't have them.

Sory to chime in but maybe some of you now understand what I said back in May when I decided to go with the TSX rather than waiting for the TL. That being said, to be fair, the photo in the gold course parking lot is not the most flattering and how many of us have had pictures of us in non so good pose and we say OMG, am I that hideous?! I think the TL will look as good as the promo shots but for me, I think the 09 TSX is still better intergrated than the 09 TL, but that is just my opinion. Maybe the TL will grow on me once its been out as long as my TSX has been... i love my 09 TSX BTW...

That's the Power Towelum... the next ingenious idea by Honda corporate to help distinguish the Acura brand from a good looking vehicle because the power plenum just wasn't enough.

The Acura press pic appears to be a photoshop job of a real pic - i.e. dampen the eyesores and accentuate the lines with unrealistic lighting/shades. The real/fake(?) chrome fetish blinging all over the car is subdued in the press pic.

Maybe even Acura could not stomach showing the real thing on their website?

I've been eagerly looking forward to upgrading my TL-S to a new one with more HP and SH-AWD.

Now that I've seen the pics, there's no way I'd want something that ugly in the driveway. At least it does finally put an end to the ongoing Ugly Grille Contest the car manufacturers seem to have been having the past few years. No way anyone will top this new monstrosity.

i mentioned this on the off topic section that the 09 TL has some of the same ugly design characteristics from the Acura Advanced Sedan concept from last year. you see, we all were warned that future Acuras would look like that.

What a BEAUTIFUL car!

Having these latest shots helped me make up my mind. My thanks to whoever shot them.

It's such ashame Honda can't seem to get their act together on the styling front lately because Honda makes some of the best, if not THE BEST, engines in the business.

I dont care what you say, that grille is freaking to huge and ugly (belongs on a SUV). I currently own the 03 and 06 TL... and have been a loyal Acura fan until now. Yes, we all will visit the dealer when it comes out but you can see that you will have the same result..."WTF"! The technology in the new 09 TL will be outstanding and a leader in its own right. But to package that technology with a $40,000 sticker and unattractive design, will even cause a loyal customer to seek more comparable options such as BMW, Lexus or Infiniti.

You're right! Many of Honda's latest styling misteps can be traced to that AAS concept car.

Acura should have stopped the whole thing right at the terrible AAS concept stage!

I remember my first reaction after seeing concept pictures was why in the world did they come up with such a ugly concept template to work with!

I mean usually auto companies come up with beautiful, but difficult to execute, concept cars.

Guys I do want to point out one thing, although the grill is absurdly oversized bare in mind that the angles of the photos of the front end are odd and from a relatively close distance. I would imagine the car looking much better from afar, the reason I see this is because even the 3G TL would look awful if you took a picture from those angles and that close.

I think if we got a better view of the TL a lot of opinions might change then again it could be wishful thinking. I however won't be looking to purchase a 4G TL, unless it looks like the above photo.

Guys - I would almost Guarantee that this FUGLY front end is a "teaser"... at least I HOPE that is the case. You know, it's one of those that they "float" out there to see if the public is going to accept it... As far as I am concerned, if it comes out looking like RoseMary's baby (Hideous), I won't be buying one of these... FREAKING UGLY!
