My sister traded in her 06 TL for a 08 TL, last month. I told her she should hold off until the new TL came out. After seeing the photo of the front grill, she did the right thing. I was planning a 2010 model purchase of a TL, but unless something happens to that UGLY grill (hey, maybe someone will destroy the mold and they'll have to create a new one. Hint to someone reading this that works in the Marysville plant) I am not putting this car in my driveway. I don't care how powerful or luxurious it is, it has to look great too. I love my 05 TL and the dealership where I purchased it, but it is looking like a G37 or A4 will be in my future. I'm sick over the pictures and I don't think I'll suddenly fall in love when I see it in person.

The pics in that link of the rear and the front are in black and white! Hmm, I wander why....? Oh wait, taking a pic in black and white almost always makes something look better than it really does. Heck that's why a not so good looking girl can change a pic of herself to be in black and white and suddenly she looks much better. Come on folks it's called false advertising.

Isn't it funny that all the other shots were in color? This side of the TL in that pic is just plain jane with to much chrome.

I know that some are saying to wait as they give the TSX as an example of something that looks good or grew on them. I'm sorry but I hate the design on this and every time I see the TSX in person I hate it just as much.

madddog32...I agree that these photos are not the most flattering and the best angles but taking these shots are very hard. Its not like Acura/Honda is inviting them for a photoshoot and say, here, shoot away. We can all be thankfull that at least some pics are out there, but I am not overly impressed with what i see. I know Acura is trying to keep the pics under wrap until the xcar show in the fall but with all this 'poor quality/angles pictures circulating over the internet and the negative attention they are getting, they should do themselve a favor and release something now to appease some concerns...

Buda...I think the TSX did grow on alot of people and to be honest with you, it grew on me as you can see by my little picture. The thing I can't understand is how different this TL is from anything else dsigned by Acura, there are no cues that looks like the TSX,MDX,RDX and even the RL for that matter (except for the grill), the pointy tear drop lights are not at all eveident here at all, the TSX has those lights, why are the TL so round and smooth?
Not a big fand of how the hood has been integrated and forces the grill to wrap up to make up for the shorter hood....Uhhh

BTW...I am not sure if these rims will actually be on any of their production car as these don't seem to be like anything I saw a few months ago from the PPT presentation at the dealership....I am not digging these rims at all!! Too much bling bling..

Another thing I don't like is that little piece above the headlights, see on the closeup, it just create a seam thats is uneccessary, a little piece that just seems to be added as an after thoughts rather than being integrated as part of the front quarter panel...

Hehe...Acura and these leak shots. They keep trying to mask or dilute all the chrome.

Side profile will look good with the right shoes - definitely looks neo-GS. I am not sure about that trim along the bottom of the side - that's new. Kinda retro to me.

I give up on the front - that's one massive shield/heatsink/License plate arrow.... No!

I think that might be an auto tranny gear selector w/ manual stick shift boot. That seems to be the relatively new trend with luxo cars.

I don't know...the front fender side profile screams Toyota Solara to me...and the back half looks just like a G35. I like the G35 but why does Acura need to copy a style already 4+ years old.

Those rims look like they were taken of a Lincoln MKZ...ha.
Body molding too? Didn't they stop putting body molding on 10 years ago

I don't know I guess for a four door sedan they are wanting to be more "upscale"...which it looks like they try to accomplish and might (except for the cheap body molding)
Overall it might be a sharp car..but alot more lux/boatish...alot less sport from the looks of it.

You know, I really don't think it looks that bad - it doesn't look like a maxima to me, more like a GS, which I think is an attractive car anyway.

I do think the last gen looked better but as long as this thing can handle and give me an engaging driving experience like no other, I'll be sold for under $40k.

Profile shot from Left Lane News is the best shot so far. Unfortunately I see Nissan Maxima/Toyota Avalon in that picture.

When I showed my wife she saw a little G35 from the side. When I showed her the back she said it looked like the front of the old CTS To me the tails look Saturn Sky.

Oh well. Further proves why I never got a new Acura after I sold my 02 TL-S in 2006...

but the car seems interesting.
The problem maybe is that we love the 3Gn TL too much, and we look at the 4th one with partial minds, is normal. It's an absoloutly different car.
The TSX 09 looks far more similar to the old one, that the TL 09 to the old one...

The side and back view are okay with me, I think I could get used to it. But the front grill is a

deal breaker, it really looks weird to me. It isn't in any way attractive and I have no idea how I

could get used to something that looks stuck on. Where it wraps up onto the hood is the really

Thats a good point. If this car was a completely clean slate, without the previous cars in our minds and eyes, I think it would be different. Regardless of how many people say they don't like it, its ugly, that looks like shyt, I'm leaving acura...I bet there will be those who eat there words. The car is the newest, latest, and greatest, and some even on this board, will HAVE to have it...

But, as I was heading to work this morning, I saw a nice CAMRY V6 RED, and it kinda made me think about the 4G TL....let me explain



On that picture we see that the CAMRY has a Bigger but and larger tail lights....kinda good for trunk capacity...



Has for the front, (forget the grill), the lights are more aerodynamics and the side shape is more profiled and makes the car look longer. (Same as the new 4G)

Since the CAMRY is the Toyota model for the LEXUS LS, its not that bad...

I guess its a question of time....a lot of people will like this machine and will find some cools ways to modify it, like every single ACURA on this forum :P

Can't wait to see it on the road.

Still looks better than i originally expected after seeing the RL...so i think this will sell, they went back to the luxury look, which i do kind of like. Still not feeling the rear, i don't like it on the camry either.


By the way, the Camry and the ES are similar...Toyota doesn't make one for the LS.

I am really disappointed that the 4G doesn't look more distinctive.

My wife drives a 2003 MDX. I remember when it first came out, my wife and I thought the 1G MDX looked so distinctive, despite being late to the SUV category.

Same with the 3G TL. We thought it looked like it came out of an Italian design studio!

This 4G TL looks so me2, or even me3 or .......

Yeah Its gonna be an awesome car with the SH-AWD (finally), this option will make the 3G owner jealous. Me too I feel the Luxury look, since ACURA will now compete against BMW and BENZ.

Im sure that with a little mods here and there, spoiler and side skirt, this car will look like a crazy fat beast ready to eat the road....(without the grill lol).

I dunno about that. I just bought an 08 type-s and when the lease is finally up on this car, it will be a BIG decision for me to decide whether or not to go with the 4G TL. The SH-AWD has a lot to live up to before it will be the current Type-S. I don't care if it's AWD, or one wheel drive. So far the 4G TL looks like crap and does not even resemble anything like a true sports sedan at all.
