^^ I cannot wait to see what they do. I would hate to think that Honda hit a Plateau with only the 3rd generation of this car. They should have at least two more hits before they stink it up like BMW did the 5 series.

well.. .you never know about the body style =).... just as not one would've predicted the 3G body based on the 2G..
the good thing about TL... they have european designers working on the car... which gives it more class... IMO...

don't believe the v8 hype... honda lacks a v8, thus why the NSX II will have a v10...
The diesel talk is also hype... (not mentioned in this thread mentioned elswhere)
The hybrid talk (mentioned elsewhere) also just hype, honda eliminated their v6 hybrid, that don't sell
The few more horses talk is true, 3.7 in an RL... remain a 3.5 in TL type s prob gets the 3.7 also... RL will get more gadgets (if they don't drop it cuz it don't sell, like they did to the rsx)...

I expect (hope ) to see in the 2009 TL
- Two Tone Door Pulls (chrome with body color)
- Push Button Start
- Birds Eye Navigation
- Bluetooth 2.0 stereo port
- HD Radio Tuner
- All LED trim lights
- Better Fuel Economy
- Better Braking
- Paddleshift on Type S
- Electronic Tintable Moonroof
- Remote Start
- Power Rear window visor
- No more cassette tape
- fewer buttons on dash
- More advanced MID
- Available adaptive cruise control
- Rain sensing wipers
RL/Legend
- All the above +
- Night Vision Mode via HUD
- Longer Wheel Base ala Lexus 460L
- Massaging Rear Seats
- Climate Controlled Seats
I expect the prices to go up as well probably $4k for the TL line
I expect the TSX will pick up a lot of TL sales,
all speculation of course!

i bought my '07 tl-s about 10 days ago, and i was at the dealership pretty late doing the pickup, so I got some time to talk to the manager at an acura dealership in DC while they were cleaning up my car for delivery. He was telling me that they are hearing that there will be a convertible version of the TSX coming out during the next generation of the TSX (which should be redesigned in '09). He doesn't think that the convertible version will come out until the 2nd or 3rd year. has anyone else heard/read anything similar?
#331
the 09 would be also cool to add a 50+GB HD slot(media card?) for music instead of the cassestte deck.
also, instead of leather interior, have the interior a tight black mico fiber material. i think the corvette and bmw have it. not sure thou....

If that means losing the dedicated buttons for A/C temp and fanspeed, no way!
If it means losing one or two of the buttons below the radio (which echo the NAVI's controls), that's less of a problem. Even there, the 2 silver-colored buttons let me fast-forward through a song on a CD, unlike the other controls which just go to the next or previous song.
And if all this means switching to an all-in-one I-Drive like BMW, then don't change a thing. I don't want to have to wade through layers of menus or remember what mode I'm in. One of those controllers (either BMW or M-B) was so bad they had to add presets for a few of the more popular functions, and it's still a nuisance to use. The Acura TL has the best User-Interface of any car -- it would be a shame if it got worse.
The Honda Accord has fewer buttons on its dash, but I don't think that's a better setup.

If the '07 already does this, my bad!

I think what's most important for Acura for 2009 is to release a new flagship. I personally love the RL but when it comes to features, WOW factor and brand, a lot of people would rather NOT get the RL, it's just not selling. I think that's what's making Acura suffer / remaining below Infiniti and Lexus in terms of "luxury" and "sub-lux". What I really want to see is a NEW RL / Legend that costs 90k and just absolutely shuts out Lexus and Infiniti. Then all we gotta do is say "Yeah.. I own an Acura, AND WHAT?"
#335
I'm sorry not infiniti I meant companies like Lexus, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. I mean come on we're the first Japanese luxury brand in Northern America now we're being pushed around >=(

I agree, once you get accustomed to the setup in the TL, it is so much easier than in other cars. I rode in my friend's 745i and I was extremely frustrated trying to work the nav, radio, a/c, pretty much everything. Furthermore, she couldn't explain how to work the features either!

I've read about that too. Which Acura do you think would benefit most from that type of design language? I'm thinking if Acura moves everything upmarket and adds a new flagship (Legend ) the TSX would move into the TL's postition, the TL could slot between it's current location and the current RL, and the RL could have the CLS type design language. Or the TL could get the 4-door coupe design.

They saw some picture or a concept car or something at this meeting, I don't know he wouldn't tell me. But he did say it looks like nothing Nissan has done before and the WOW factor is in full effect.

If there's no 6-speed...
...then I'm out. I would definitely consider the TSX turbo if it is available with the manual transmission. The Japanese do not appear to be willing to invest in a manual shift version of their AWD driveline, probably too small a market, though the Germans do offer it. The other day on one of the forums, those bemoaning the shrinking availability of the manual transmission were given comfort by a poster who said that Mazda offers MT in every car except the minivan. I haven't verified this by visiting the dealer or website, but I may if the trend continues. I also think the lack of a 6-speed on the Infiniti G35 AWD is a big disappointment. Bottom line is there's not enough of us diehards to worry the car companies and our ranks are thinning every day. Fortunately, I have my 6MT TL and it only has 27K on it, so I hope to have many years to ponder the question.

Acura is going to have to do somethings to keep up, now the lexus GS430 is going to become the GS460 and inif M is offering AWD for the M45 as well as the M35 M45x and M35x who'd want to look at an RL after that.

Electro-chromic meaning electricity makes the tinting occur, whether it's a giant LCD or some other chemical.
Since some people have complained about the earlier mirrors leaking that chemical (elsewhere on AZ), I wonder if people really want more of it over their head!
I dunno, is it a problem that the sunroof is too dark? You can still open it at night!

Agreed. the 3rd gen body style is a classic like the Legend. Years from now a 3gen in good condition will still elicit stares. However, in terms of Acura topping themselves it's very possible. As technology progresses, the goodies that can and will be packed into the new gen cars will be amazing. +300HP, better driving dynamics, AWD, better interior amenities and so forth. I'm excited for the upcoming models.
Just look at the 07 MDX. It's leaps and bounds better than it's predecessor, despite it's questionable looks. I'd take an 07 MDX any day over the previous generation.

they do that with the camo to throw u off guys... jsut because it looks like the maxima rear end dont mean it is... the rear under that will look totaly differnt.. u guys are jsut saying that cuz the camo has the white part shaped the way the maxima. u would be shocked to see what it looks like under that cover thats the reason for it lol either way... a V8 sounds more then interesting !!

9.5+10.5 22m=Hella Flush
Just hope the rear doesn't look like a copycat of a Maxima or Altima. The front looks pretty aggressive from the picture. I hope they either keep the same size as the current TL or even shorten the length of the car by maybe 4inches.

Forget the moonroof, I want electro-chromatic windows (not that those will probably ever be available from a manufacturer). Nice and dark during the day (completely black while parked), lighter at night to see.

2009 Tls Release Date?
I was just speaking to my salesman friend @ Springfield, NJ Acura. He informed that the 2009 TL will be coming out May 2008?
This kinda makes sense since Acura released the 2008s early plus they already discounted them.
I was quoted $33,500.00 for 2007 TL-S and $35,000 for 2008 TL-S.
What do you guys think about May 2008?

Sounds plausible. Mid-year releases, especially with a major model change is not that unusual. Gives them a jump on the competition, as well as time to "get the word out" before the next MY release.
They'll probably try to hold MSRP until pretty well all the '08's are gone later in the year.
