The specs mention a 5 speed auto. I'll be surprised if they don't go to a 6 speed auto...

I go from Stella 1 to Stella S (as in Type-S) in 2011, no later than 2012. So I could care less what it looks like in 09! Just get the bugs out, and cater to the people's groans and complaints by then please!

As for right now...I'm making Stella one hot mamasita! Caliente! Did I spell that shit right?

I don't care what's under the hood or how many wheels the power goes to. If it looks anything close to that, it's a no-go for me

275 hp? That's it? With AWD and the weight of the car, it'll be slower than the 3g.

Actually, I'll hold that statement 'till I see a dyno graph. I'd like to see the area under the curve.

Take a look at the 08 accord and take a look at the spy shots of the new TL... Both interiors will be about the same. Just picture a few more changes with the front and rear end of the accord and there you go the new 09 TL.

That mofo avatar always makes me laff man!

The sport version (G35) of the Infinity line already eclipses 300, not to mention the G35x (sedan) surpasses 275 with 300! Even when we change the shit we still short! WTF???

Ok, ok, ok...blood pressure coming down...I know these are just guesses...besides, didn't I say I don't care already? LOL!

imho, the type S should get at least 330 hp. This would be inline with the future "sport models" of current luxury brands, and maintain the Type S credibility. Like Darksom said, the current benchmark seems to be at 300hp.

Has anyone seen the spy pics of the 09 TL?

This car is the RL with the TL name...with some mods. I cannot believe that they would do these things to this car. Has anyone realized that it looks alot like a Nissan Maxima. Who is it that thinks the Pregnant look is in? Man this car is really gonna lose its youthful appeal and gain some "I'm heading to the golf range hun" look. Damit Honda. On my second TL and will not be going for a third unless all that has been said and seen already is rumor and there is a secret uncovered 09 TL lurking about.

What i would of liked to seen updated (realistic).

1) SH-AWD bias to the rear with 325-340 HP and 280+ torque.

2)Stronger and smoother Manual Transmission in both TL base and Type S (im sure you heard of the third gear issue, cause i lived it), optional 6 speed automatic.

3)Upgraded Audio System (225 els does not cut it seeing as though the market is rare on DVD-A quality music). 400 watt system with 8 Bose Speakers and Sub should do the trick. With full IPOD integration and a generic aux for all other audio players.

4) NAVI should stay EXACTLY the same. KEEP the touch Screen and Don't even consider the IDrive thing that they have in the MDX and RL.

5) Seating should be a lot more comfortable with better lumbar support and Hugging Seats for the driver similar to BMW's seating in the M3. Bucket seats for the back passengers which will eliminate the clausterphobic feel. An inch or two more leg room in the back would be nice as well. Get rid of the hump where a fifth passenger would sit while arm rest is put up.

6) Better MPG which wiil be tough with SH-AWD. You ppl that claim to get 29 plus MPG on the highway or city are full of it. anything more than 22-23 on highway is BS unless you're driving 5 under speed limit if so my hats off to you.

7) Keyless entry with push button engine start for automatic.

8) 17' rims are fine with option of 18' but the wheel base should suit the 18' so that you don't have to go to low of profile tire.

9) keep the cabinet lighting with blue effect not red like the type S. Chrome around windows is desired as well.

10) Color options, especially for black. Nighthawk black (my car) is not as appealing as a Jet black or the black MB uses on the S550.

This my fellow acura fans new and old i call the "realistically perfect TL."
Non realistically drop a Twin Turbo in it RWD or SH-AWD and push it to 350+ HP and 300 Tourque on all the mods ive given.

Let me know what you guys think

275 and 300 HP is NO WHERE NEAR enough HP increase to overcome increased weight and decreased drive-line effeciency from SH-AWD You'll have all the get-up-and-go of a 2G TL.

Acura has stated that they want to move up to be considered true luxury along with BMW, MB, Infiniti, Lexus, etc...that means stepping up the cars and the prices. If you want entry luxury in the future, you're going to have to step down from the TL, plain and simple.

I feel that other automakers reveal future cars earlier and draw more hype than Acura has lately (ie Lexus IS-F, Lexus LS460, 2008 CTS, G37, 2008 C-class, etc). The RL and the new MDX seemed to pop out of nowhere.

i agree why are they so secretive, you hear about new car models for 2010 from other auto makers, bmw has been pushing that tin box 1 series for almost a year i think already,

Check this out. The TL in the spy shots we've seen here in the US are the same car referred to an '09 TSX in Germany... maybe it is the TSX - it looks to be close in size to the 3 series in the photos. It could be camera angle though.

motorauthority has it wrong, they don't even get the tl in europe, they get the tsx badged as the honda accord. follow the link below for spy shot of the new '09 tsx.

The 3g was the stepping stone, now they need to complete the move. Many magazines have refered to the 3g TL as luxury, no longer entry level.

FWD has reached the maximum HP it can handle. They cant increase the HP any more without significant torque steer. They are naturally evolving the entire lineup to SH-AWD. Go drive the RDX and see if its a marketing ploy.

Has anyone been able to access acura.com? It's been down since yesterday, could it be that they're updating the future cars section?

If the TL-S has any less than 400hp it wont be a decent competitor in the market when the time comes. That said, bring on 2012!

looks like the TSX typeS will be getting 260HP and SH-AWD. This is a very GOOD sign for us TL owners.

IMHO I do not think acura/honda is going to push the TL Type S over 300hp, some where in the range of 296 + or - 3hp. There will be SH-AWD obviously which will already eat away at the gas milage which is a huge selling point for our cars. Getting over 20 mpg in a 286 hp car is awesome be thankful for that. You want more power then find another car company.

If they want to compete, they're gonna have to play hard. I'm expecting the current 3.5L in the current Type-S to be in the base model for 09, and a 3.7L in the Type-S. The TL has always had about 20HP on the Accord V6, so since the new AV6 has around 268hp, i'm guessing were good to go for having over 300hp. RWD *would* be nice, but i'm not complaining about the SH-AWD at all...should turn out quite nice and provide insane grip around those turns!

I'm hoping for 290hp in the base model, and about 310-315 in the Type-S

I mean c'mon...the Lexus has 300, the G sedan has 300, the BMW 335 has 300....

In my opinion the 09 TL will have the 3.7(same as the new MDX) and easily capable of 300-330 ponies. If acura does not come out a performance leader in 09 they will be shooting themselves in the foot. Not everyone wants or cares if acura is a performance leader but I think thats just the direction acura wants to be in.
IS 350 ------306hp
G35 sedan--306hp
G37 coupe--330hp
I think acura will be somewhere in the same field. One can only hope!!

what would be really cool is if there were 3 options on the engine. I could see a the TL-S with a 3.7L around 305 hp SH-AWD fully loaded ..... sticker ??? (45K)

base model TL non nav 3.3L 272 hp FWD sticker (34k)

then a TLX with or without nav 3.5L 288hp , SH-AWD, sticker (39w/o nav, 42w/nav)

that all makes sense

What about the phantomatic super A-Vtec technology in the next gen. TL?

The MDX 3.7L got 300 h.p. with the standard i-vtec.

different engine options are the way to go. knowing acura they'll have 2 ----TL-S(3.7) and base TL(3.5) or they will just put the 3.7 in both and give the type-s more horsepower.

i don't think they will go smaller than 3.5 because the new accord has the 3.5 for its v6 option.

automakers are in a classic horsepower war so i wouldn't be suprised if we see bigger numbers in 09 compared to infinity and lexus.

If Acura doesn't raise the performance bar to a new level they will effectively be loosing out on a huge audience. I would much rather pay a premium for an Infiniti or Lexus with actual power!

More power (310), smoother tranny (manual/base model), AWD, Touch screen navi, And a dynamically better sounding system...i will be more than happy to pay 37-40K for the car. And please don't change the design into a pregnant knock off Nissan Maxima. Seriously have you guys seen some of the spy pics of the tsx/TL...if they are into copying styles stick with copying the BMW not freakin Nissan. EWWWWW to the new headlights that may look like the ones on the mdx.
