These kinds of comments from Corporate Talking Heads have absolutely zero value or credibility.
What else could he have said? "Acura dealers who have sampled the future line-up are very dissapointed. They find the new cars lacking power and the styling unappealing."
Of course not.

Yet another Bimmer with a pitbull grip on your pocket for options! Disgustingly ugly and expensive!
Keep mine Acura! When it comes to options, Acura is like Prego - "It's in there!"

Too Early to Start 4G TL Forum?
Is it too early to start the Forth-Generation TL forum? Lots of talk out there about it. I still have my '99 TL (2nd Gen)...had it 8.5 years now. Still a good car. But am interested in seeing the new '09 TL. Just wish they could get the MPG up to about 60MPH so "cruise time" would not be so costly I like the sounds of 300HP...but what I really want is to be able to spend more time in my TL cruise'n the roads and highways without going into debt
TL's forever!

Where? Here? On the main page? Did I miss it? I see First, Second and Third.....but no Forth....??
I am trying to save here and there towards a new TL....so maybe in '09 or '10 I can get one. But these dang gas prices have me re-thinking everything when it comes to cars. It's costly enough to own, fuel, insure and maintain a car...but these fuel prices are thowing everything out of whack. And Honda (from what I have read) is averse to offering "flex fuel" cars, for reasons they think are good. My next car has to support bio fuels I think. Electrics and hydrogen fuel cell cars are stil 5+ years out. But if I can buy a car next year that can run on corn or cellulosic ethanol 5 or 8 years from now that could save me money. The US will top 5 Billion gallons of ethanol production in 2007. We are already now the single largest producer or ethanol in the world. And it is only going to grow. Some are predicting, in time, .60 cents a gallon with the use of cellulosic grasses to make ethanol....

Sorry to get off on that rant.....that was not my intention, I just want to be able to drive my TL for a low cost (and send $$ to the middle east)

Well, the car may not be out yet, but there is still a lot to talk about.
Engine and drivetains, interiors, what kind of radio/sound system features it will have, the navigation system and other electronics it will offer......all this topics could be discussed and even speculated about OR it could give us current TL owners a chance to maybe influence Honda on what's in the '09 TL. Although, the '09 TL design is probably set in stone at this point. With the car just a few months away Acura is probably already doing the contracts for parts to build the car. I gues the 4G forum should have been started 2 years ago
But my concerns are if the car is going to 300HP is Honda going to use a better transmission then they have used in the past? They REALLY need to address that.
Engine mounts. I had to replace 2 of mine because they failed before 120,000 miles. Now at 300HP they better beaf them up and not pinch pennys.
Sirius radio. I want Sirius. NOT XM. Will there be a path to do that? (lets hope the merger goes through)
I love my TL and it was and is still a great car. But I have one thing that really bugs me...the creaky center console! creak creak creak when someone leans on it...the 3rd gen may have fixed that but....
Fuel economy and flex fuel support? I know we won't see an electric, fuell cell or hybrid TL this generation...maybe 5th gen...but can't Honda support E85? For a whole list of reasons...........
Active safety systems: Will the '09 TL have radar for braking or cruise control? How about that thing Honda has in Japan that kicks the steering wheel to one side if the car detects (you dozed off) you are driftting off the road. I also want to be able to see weather radar on my navi screen, to get a better idea of road conditions, heavy rain, snow, freezing rain...I want to know what to expect BEFORE I leave my drive way. I'd like the TL to be able to detrect if there is a car next to me to and warn me (or put a view of that side of the car on my LCD for better visabilty) when a car in my "blind spot", maybe even warn me audibly if I start changing lanes into him or we get to close. In 20 years accidents will be rare....but we are just starting to put these (and much more intelligent systems) into cars. Acura is a leader here....but it's still fun for us to talk about.
Aerodynamics; will the '09 TL be able to fly at altitudes above 25,000 feet? Cruise at 350 knots? ......oppps, that's the 6th gen TL I was thinking about there
Anyway, I think there is a ton of topics to talk about for the 4th Gen TL...

I've always thought of how realistic it would be to get a last generation accord 6-speed coupe and replace it's front end with one from a TL and having that crease on the sides put on. Alo take the rear of the TL and have that retro fit on the accord. Then replace the entire accord interior with one off the TL. REPLACING THE 3.0 engine with the 3.2 or the 3.5 is questionable. I figure that would cast a small fortune to do, but driving what would be a 2004+ CL around would have people shaking their heads in disbelief. It would freak out my Acura dealer when I bring it in for oil changes and maintenance.

While searching the net it appears Honda will offer cars in Brazil soon that can run on gas or E85 and even E100 (pure Ethanol). That's great. Hopefully that means E85 and E100 vehicles for North America are not too far off. Even if E85 costs the same as gas here in the northeast initially I would buy that over gas....to support American farmers instead of Mobil and those wacks in the middle-east.
An E85 TL would be a start. But while searching around I also discovered the Honda CR-Z.....cool! ...as long as they fix the interior. And it's going into production in '09. Says it's uses the Civic Hybrid powertrain, which gets 45MPG highway. Will have have to keep an eye on this. Maybe I keep my '99 TL another 5 o 8 years and just use it in winter or when I need the room, and get a CR-Z for everyday driving...humm

I wonder if the '09 TL will have a similar grill & hood design as the CR-Z? That might look pretty cool...

E85??
Are you guys serious? Less power for more money? WTF would you want that for?
You've already got ULEV emissions. The TL at WOT probably emits less than a lot of 70's cars emitted sitting in the driveway with the engine off.

>>E85?? ....Are you guys serious? Less power for more money? WTF would you want that for? .....You've already got ULEV emission <<
1. Less power for more money? When ethanol gets down to a buck a gallon you will be glad you have the OPTION to burn it instead of $3.25 gas. How much "power" do you need by the way? Hey, the day you want to drag race your TL you can still tank her up with high octane gasoline. (can't think of the last time I took my TL racing?)
2. It's not about ULEV emissions (but that's nice too). It's about being about to burn a renewable, American made, bio-fuel in our cars....that also happens to be CO2 neutral, that is the corn or grass that is grown to make ethanol converts about the same amount of CO2 back to oxygen when it is grown. That black crud we get out of the ground doesn't do that.
But how could ANYBODY be against E85 or E100 vehicles? They still burn gas. So IF you wanted to put gas in your car (which already has some ethanol in it by the way) and a send a few thousand dollars to the middle east each year then be my guest. But some of us want to pay less for fuel (so we can drive more), support American farmers and stop seeing our energy controlled by a few greedy corporations.
I am as free-market as it gets.....but that means CHOICE on the demand side too. Being able to choose the fuel you burn in you car. How could anyone be against that?
By the way, Honda agrees with ME....in the next 24 months watch how many Honda cars will be able to burn E85....
Jeff

Oh, and even the Model T was designed to run on gas or ethanol....Henry Ford, a guy who knew a thing or two, even saw the value of his customers having a choice of what fuel they burned

"Biofuels" as a replacement for oil is a pipedream. It's a politician's solution. Stop drinking the kool-aid.
The only interesting technology with a chance in the near term is Hydrogen Fuel Cells.
(I sense we're not going to agree on this. So as not take this thread too far off track, you can have the last word if you want it.)

No one said biofuels would replace oil (short term). I'd just like the choice to burn it. Fuel cells? Great idea. But they won't, sad to say, be ready by the time I buy my next car. Last word....I think we agree we both like TL's...and if Honda made one powered by a fuel cell (at a reasonable cost) we'd both buy one.

I know they cant leak too much information at the risk of hurting the 08 sales, but you would think with the competition already out with redisigns and the TL on its last year that they would be leaking some information to keep people from switching over to a new brand.
