The new TL is hot. Said it's very different. Revolutionary change. Almost too radical for Honda's style. Looks like a prototype (his words) but in a good way. Should be out in September (also his words). He said Dick drove it out himself with some pirotechnics and smoke. The car got a standing ovation.
Also seems there is mounting rumors that it's being released in two flavors from the gate. FWD and SHAWD. That'll make a lot of people happy who are sick of FWD Acura's

from the spyshots of the TL, till now, the front end, and the fog lights were very different from what shows Car&D.
I don't think it's relieable.

Acura needs some balls and make something that looks mostly liek this I woudl take one is a second. They need to take their marketing slogan "Advance" and really do that instead of these damn incremntal design changes, be bold like Audi R8 and watch people line up!! My guess is too many main stream people by regular TL and they don't want to risk alienating them.

Turning diameter 2009 TL
After seeing the specs of the 2009 TSX, I have very low hopes that Acura will improve the turning diameter of the TL. TL/TSX has one of the worst turning diameters in the industry. 2009 TSX shows no improvement. I hope they fix in in the TL. IMHO this is the worst characteristic of the current TL.
They did a decent job with the MDX (as far as turning radius goes), I hope they improve the TL.

This is actually really close to the current config. The wheels are obviously not traditional acura and look too big. Not totally sure about the headlights because they don''t wrap around the side enough. But it's not far off. The grill is similar to the RL and the scoop is similar to the spy photos.

This is more stylish and futuristic than current layout. the lines are more elegant while still being bold and sexy.

Everyone keeps saying the same thing, so it looks like we will have 300 HP SH-AWD according to this acticle.

ok so you want ur car to turn like a ford explorer? I actually like the fact that it forces you to u-turn the correct way... not to mention how it corners with the slightest twist
#2103
yeah, I was kinda upset about the turning diameter of my TL. It caught me by surprise not having made a u-turn when I test drove it.
I curbed my virgin front stock rims early on--at a stoplight I know very well--but quickly adapted to it.
No biggie.

Yep, ur right. But Honda and Toyota are old-school, traditional companies. They WILL NOT alienate their cusomer base with their bread and butter products (Accord, Camry, Taco, 4Runner & TL).
That's why each generation gets an incremental upgrade unless the previous gen has lost significant market share.

Which is why Honda is the parent company, to offer traditional cars to the average consumer. Honda has always been about reliability and value, so they can base their cars around that.
Acura is supposed to be the luxury division of Honda, and the competition is moving ahead much faster than Acura. They need to ditch the whole FWD platform, offer higher performing cars, stop rebadging Hondas ( TSX, RL ), and up their quality control.
The new TSX is, IMO, a huge step backwards. What could have been an extremely fun and stylish car turned out to be an awkward mess with an underwelming engine. I hope they offer the K23t paired up with the SHAWD system from the RDX in the future to stay somewhat close to the competition.
The MDX is craving a V8, as is the RL. I actually really like the new Acura MDX, I think its one of the nicest SUV's on the road, especially the rear. Interior blows away everything in its class, and it has Acura's reliability to back it up. However, a V8 should be an option when you're breaking into the $50k range.
The RL needs a name change. It didn't do shit for the company, and its one of their worst selling cars. Let it go. Change it back to the Acura Legend and i'm sure you'll spark way more interest in the car. The new redesign is a joke. I honestly don't know what else to say about it because there are no words to describe how terrible the design it is. Nothing flows, nothing matches, nothing says "i'm a $50,000 car". I didn't think the previous RL was ugly, in fact, I thought it was pretty nice...just very bland and not eye catching. It still has the nicest interior in its class, 4 years later. I can't wait to see the 2009 die off, hopefully they will come back with that concept picture thats been floating around the web with a RWD based AWD system + V8

I'll reserve my judgement for the 4G TL. Everything i've heard has been good, and people that attended the conference held by Acura said it looks amazing. Leaked specs indicate a FWD 280HP and SHAWD 300HP varient, which doesn't even include a Type-S.
Time will tell...

Also, this thread is getting ridiculously long. Does anyone have the time to compile a new FAQ thread, with a few photos, and continue this topic without the 50+ pages?

1. Most of the stuff is baseless speculation and wishful thinking
2. Everything else tends to get bumped to the end of the thread (pics, etcs) as people make comparisons between the newest spy pics/photoshop/hand drawn sketch on a napking vs. something posted months ago.

how is it possible that no one has leaked photos yet? They are having random people at conferences and no one has seen the car? Someone go hang around Torrance for a while...

I hope the picture from the magazine a few pages back is just speculation because it's ugly. Just screams design by committee.
