true, but we already know the tl is going to have the same grill. Im hoping the lights will look different from the tsx. I have a feeling they will look like the sports four/mdx lights .. which I dont think would be too bad.

Its just a facelift for the RL, the 3G TL was out before the 2G RL and looks nothing like it.

I still remember when the 3g came out, even though I was 11, I couldn' tell the difference between the TL and TSX. I still think the look way too similar. Throw in the fact that the RL has fallen in line behind the corporate look, and hope is all but gone for the TL cosmetic-wise.

I meant that as far as the RL goes, the TSX yes agreed looks alot loke the 2G TL and cues from the 3G but I think that was so people could buy a cheaper TL, but now its time for the TSX to become its own.

Oh yea one thing that will bug me about the 09 TL is if it doesn't have keyless entry. I was surprise that the MDX didn't get it and even more surprise that the new TSX didn't either. The 09 TL better have since Acura always emphasize technology being associated with their vehicles.

you mean keyless ignition right? i'm pretty sure they have keyless entry (a remote that unlocks the doors, lol).

yea that too. what i meant is no need to push a button on the key fob to unlock the door. Just touch the door handle and it unlocks with the fob in your pocket.

^ Oh, I know what you mean. The IS or G has this. You never even have to take the key out of your pocket.

Walk up to the car. Doors unlock. Get in. Push the start button. Drive away.

I know C&D *published* it, but did they, in fact, create it?

If so they would caption it or mention the "speculative rendition" in an accompanying caption/article/side-bar. C&D (nor any other pub) would not put out a "made up" picture proclaiming it to be "Car X" without a disclaimer - that's just a law suit waiting to happen.

as far as i can tell...and i've gone over the issue with a fine toothed comb...there is no mention of the photo being an "artist's rendition", artwork, "may look something like this" anywhere. honestly guys, i hate to say this, but i think this really is the new TL. and for everyone saying that their dealers who went to the NO meeting and saw the car saying "it looks nothing like it" are most likely sworn to secrecy and certainly wouldn't tell you the new TL is this ugly. then how would they get any pre-orders? It really looks like they took designs from every company out there and threw them in a blender. i hope i'm wrong, i really do, but if i'm right, we should all rejoice that we have sweet 3rd gens to drive for the next few years.

i think it will be damn near impossible to do much better than the drop dead gorgeous 3rd gens we all drive. i mean really? how ?? when a car looks as good as ours does it will be hard to beat. i plan on keeping mine a long time (especially since its SUPERCHARGED =p) i am not looking foward to the 4th gen.

^^ you got a good point. Big mistake IMHO for dropping the MT option for MY 07 & 08 on the base model. Hopefully, they learn from their mistake.

Other question- will they offer a MT w/ AWD?

This is photoshop. The first thing that caught me was those rear wheels are bigger than the front wheels. Why on earth Acura would do that. Answer, they wouldnt.

I really don't think it was a mistake to Acura. Maybe to you, but not them. We sold maybe 3 6-speeds per year back then. Even with the manual offered in the Type S sinice 07, we've sold a grand total of 3. That's 07 and 08 combined.

I just got my Car And Driver Magazine from the Mailbox and the picture looks pretty damn real to me, but who knows? This thing is about as hideous as the new C Clas.

I've heard many report that the folks who have seen the new TL thought it was fantastic looking. Just as an FYI: I was over at my dealer today testing the new TSX and talked to the sales manager who saw the TL at that conference a few weeks ago. He also seemed to have the same impression. The new TL is hot. Said it's very different. Revolutionary change. Almost too radical for Honda's style. Looks like a prototype (his words) but in a good way. Should be out in September (also his words). He said Dick drove it out himself with some pirotechnics and smoke. The car got a standing ovation.

Also seems there is mounting rumors that it's being released in two flavors from the gate. FWD and SHAWD. That'll make a lot of people happy who are sick of FWD Acura's

I hope so. I got exactly the same story from the dealer two weeks ago while I was getting some work done. "It looks like nothing else out there" I want them to succeed. It would be a shame to bring something like this out when they got the last gen so right.

man it must be the eye of the beholder...this car looks great to me.
If its a 6 speed...Im all over it. If not I dont know WTF I am going to do for a 6 speed fast-ish FWD or AWD sedan. They seem to be a dying breed...

Kinda yuck, not original at all. Civic (Saturn?) front, Infiniti rear, BMW wheels. foglights being bigger than the headlights take away from the face of the car. It's all over the place.
