I agree, but I don't see anyone buying the RL if the TL looks that good. I expect something between the TSX, and RL in size, and in looks. And it will have a hideous grill.

I read about the change in brand. Is it good or is it bad?

I have to wonder where they are going to compete in terms of pricing. Acura has very competitive pricing and upping it to Lexus, Infinity, and BMW will hurt. Time will tell I guess.

Infiniti and Acura are very close to in price. The new G-35 comes decently loaded for the base. I think the only difference is that Acura has less options. Infiniti's have more optional amenities which can drive up the price.

This thing is gorgeous. I think Acura should take a page out of Audi. The TL and RL should be similar in shape and dimensions. The only difference should be in size and amenities. Personally I can't really tell the difference between an A6 or an A8 until I get up close. If the RL and TL looked like that Acura would have definitely a run away hit, especially if the TL has SH-AWD option.

Please, for the love of all things Honda/Acura, PLEASE let this rendering be from Acura!

Can anyone please PS some A-Spec wheels onto it so we can get a feel for how it would look on the streets?

Is it opening tomorrow? The site schedule states that tomorrow (the 19th) and Thursday the 20th are for press preview, and that credentials are required. Dealer preview is on the 20th starting 4pm.

Anyone on this forum have 'credentials'? [and a camera?]

I believe thats from this site:

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...cleId=125224#3

snip:
One source tells us that Honda is currently working on a 420-horsepower 4.8-liter V8, and will employ the same cylinder deactivation technology we see on the current Japan-spec Inspire V6, thus generating class-leading fuel economy figures.

But unlike the current RL, which sits on a front-wheel-drive platform and features Honda's SH-AWD four-wheel-drive system, the all-new RL will instead incorporate a rear-drive platform, one necessity that Honda planners have clearly identified in this segment, and a reconfigured SH-AWD system that engages the front wheels when rear traction is compromised.

Slated for a mid-2010 debut, the new RL is expected to land in showrooms wearing a higher price tag of over $70,000.

I would say it's essential for them to show the 2009 model at the NY auto show.

It's bad enough that we've had to wait this long with out even a "concept" photo much less the final product. NYC auto show is a must for its depute

It looks cool, but let's not get carried away. Unless I'm way off, it's not a "picture" it's an "Artist's Conceptual Rendition."

And we've all been around long enough to know that real cars almost NEVER look anywhere near as cool as the "Conceptual Rendition".

The 2009 Acura TSX will be introduced during the New York International Auto Show media days which occur on March 19th and 20th.
We know about the TSX, but the way this reads it doesn't sound like the TL/TL Concept will be in NY next month. That sucks.

I'm mildy curious but not crazy to see it. The NY auto show is probably the biggest venue to present and showcase new vehicles here in the US. The TL is Acura's moneymaker and for all practical purposes, the 'Flagship' vehicle. If they dont showcase the new next generation TL at the show, its eventual debut and initial sales will be significantly lower. Might even be better for them to wait and debut it at next year's auto show.

The TL is not Acura's flagship vehicle. Most important, sure. Best-selling, yes. But not flagship. A Flagship car is the company's prida and joy, where all the company's technologies and innovations come together. Acura's is the RL. BMW's is the 7-Series. Mercedes the S. Lexus the LS. and so on.

Yeah, I agree. Maybe they do have something up thier sleeve for NY.

I don't get it. They should be planning to make a big splash whether NY or elsewhere, for all the reasons you mention.

But not a peep. I don't understand why it's all so hush-hush.

I want the new TL to be fugly as hell. Then we 3G guys can enjoy our cars even more knowing that there is a limited supply. (Wishful thinking?)

Veeeeeeeery wishful thinking....lol.

The 3G TL is, in no way - shape - or form, a "limited supply" vehicle nor will it ever be. (No matter how much you love or hate the 4G, sad to say)

I have to disagree with you on this one. The North American Auto show in Detroit is THE largest show in North America. Most of the auto makers showcase new models here. You will only find a little amount of new showcases in NY, Chicago, etc.

Looking at this picture again, how do we even know this was taken at the Acura booth? Heck, how do we know that wasn't taken in someone's driveway and the car underneath is nothing but a 1994 Toyota Supra?

Damn it, we can wish though...

Lol...ya'll been doing 57 pages worth of wishing! My wishing will begin in 2010 or 2011 when the heralded arrival of the 4G TL-S should be taking place! That's when the true change of the TL will be in effect!!
