235/50/18 for 18x8.75 +20mm is it too big of a tire? A buddy of mine has a set he can give me for free and just would like some opinions.

Hey guys, been lurking for a while, read through a large portion of this thread and wanted to get opinions on a set of these. You are welcome to quote previous posts if i'm repeating a question.
I have an 06 Base 5at - stock. I plan on doing a slight drop (either Tein H techs, or H&R sports). I'm deciding right now on offset +20 or +33 with the 18x8.75's? This is my daily driver so i'd like to keep everything as practical (but sexy) as possible. I definitely dig the looks of +20 more, but would rather not have to deal with rolling the fenders if I can. Also, what tire should I go with? I've seen alot of 225/40, and 235/40. I live in Idaho so i'd like to protect the wheels as much as possible. Thanks guys

First off, if you have Brembos, you have to go +20 in the front or they wont clear. I know you said you have a base, but I do too and have brembos (i have a 6MT). The +20 gives a much more concave look that the +33. That look is what initially made me like the 530s so I was pleased to go +20. I think that concaveness is what gives this rim that sexiness youre looking for IMO
What you plan to do for suspension really effects what you will have to do for tires. Im mainly speaking about what I know with the +20 offset, so dont quote me on this if you get +33. Anyways, the majority of people in this thread say to run 225/40/18 as apposed to 235 (im having this dilemma myself on what tire size im going to go with). Its really different with every car, but Ive contacted people and read every page of this thread and a lot of people that had 235s and dropped it and had some rubbing, then switched to 225 and had no problems. I havent heard of anyone with 225 that has had rubbing problems with the springs you mentioned.
So, if you go +20 with 225 you shouldnt rub or need to roll fenders. If you go 235 you may or may not rub, therefore may or may not have to roll fenders.
What color car do you have and what color rims are you looking at?
Hope that helped

So Ive pretty much been asking these same questions for the past week or 2. Im in the same same boat, bout to get some xxr 530s and want to be sure to do it right. So here is all the info I have gathered in regard to your post.

So I'm about to place an order on these, heres my specs and tell me if i will rub!!
225/40/18s on 18x8.75 +20offset all around. So I'm still on stock height but in couple months planning to get tein SA coil overs and drop about 1.5-2 inches! Hope my fronts won't rub when i mount them on next week! So anyone want to let me know if you rub on stock height with 225 tires??

You should be ok. May have to roll fenders, but Ive read/heard of a lot of people with that set up and are fine.

keep it clean
story05, doesn't look too bad with stock suspension, but I guess I'm use to seeing XXR530s on lowered TLs that my eyes are playing tricks on me. They are lowering your car by at least an inch or more. Ha. Will look real nice with aspec suspension. Had to correct myself. You already have an aspec body kit.

Thanks guys. I actually planned on doing suspension first, but my OEM summer tires were shot so I needed a new set up. It'll eventually be lowered though, and agreed that it'll look 1000x better too

do you guys think 225/40/18 would work in the front and 255/40/18 would work in the rear for 18x8.75 and 33 offset?
the reason I ask is because I know someone selling that package for a good price but I'm not sure how the 255 would work in the rear. I do plan on dropping 1.5-2 inches in the future.

Yep This is what i was looking for!!!
Ok guys. Here is mine.
Specs: Lowered on H&R RACE springs, no camber kit at all. Stock struts
XXR 530 - Chromium black
front - 18x8.75 +20 with 215/40 -1.5 camber (natural camber with no camber kit)
Rear - 18x9.75 +20 with 225/40 -3.0 camber (natural camber with no camber kit)
fenders rolled all around and slight pull to keep from rubbing in rear (I have a fender roller if anyone needs fenders rolled in PA/DE/NJ and sometimes VA. I live in DE on the PA border)

So you didn't need spacers, seems like it, And you went with 215, was the fender roll necessary or precautionary??
