07 TL - Misfires and errors

Hoping someone can help out

On my 07 TL - a few weeks ago a check engine light started blinking and came on. In parralel, the car began running rough on idle.

I ran the scan and got the following errors PS0302, PS0303, PS0305, PS300 Random Misfires.

I changed the plugs less than a year ago with NGKs - so I tried the coil check. Started the car and began pulling the coils out - when removing the coils I didnt see any change in revs when pulling any of the coils out. So I dont think the coils are the problem. To be sure, I changed out #5 and the problem continued. I still get the same codes including PS0305.

I ran a STP fuel system cleaner as well and no difference. I can hear the misfire when the car is idle and the check engine light comes back even when i clear the code.

Not sure what to try next - any ideas ?

I've heard things about crank sensor and cam sensors causing similar issues but I'm no mechanic.

Hmmm that would be a different error code no >? My mechanic wants to swap out all the coils which is like 300$ just for the parts - but hes not 100% sure either - which is not very comforting ! Ive read some threads where people recommend a valve adjustment but thats usually when all 6 are throwing the error...Im only getting an error on 3.

what were you doing when the flashing CEL came on? How many miles on the car? Did you recently get gas? Low on coolant? have you removed the plugs to see if they are coated in oil or anything of the nature?

Roughly 201,000 KMs. The flashing CEL just came up on a cold start one morning, no crazy driving on my part. I always use 91 Shell and coolant is good - Plugs were changed approx. 6 months back. I will pull them out this weekend though. I have a few spare plugs in my garage and was thinking of swapping out the plugs for Cylinder 2,3,5 - wont hurt I guess

where did you get the plugs from? Did you do the timing belt service along with water pump?

Yeah I got the plugs from NAPA. Timing belt service was a few years ago and was done by Acura at the dealership along with the water pump.

I suspect I may have a leak somewhere - when I revved the engine yesterday after swapping some coils between cylinders to test them out - I could hear a hissing sound from the engine...

Update for anyone who may run into the same issue (hopefully you dont)

- Pulled the plugs and swapped the coils - same issue.
- Went to a local mechanic and we did the valve adjustment. The exhaust valves were the culprit. Post adjustment - the lights are gone, the car is pulling way better.

I never heard a ticking noise so I didnt suspect the valves especially since they were adjusted 18-20 months ago but there you go.
