Quanaman's NBP Type-S Progress Thread: Updated 12/24/14

It is a 5spd with red interior and fresh black paint. One look at it and I knew I had to have it
Here are a few more pics from the previous owner. Some of the stuff on the car will be coming off, including the yellow fogs and high beams and the smoked tail lights. My aim is to bring some of it back to stock and then put my own spin on it. Just as soon as I get some money to dump into it. First will be a rear lip though and some wheels cause these ASA's don't do it any justice IMO. '
Here is the mod list that came with the car;
-Odometer: 266k on cluster (4k after body work and paint)
- Full engine rebuild - only oem parts are block, head and crank. everything else was replaced and installed by a bmw enthusiast mechanic and race car driver for the E30 class. machine shopped and better than factory specs. this engine was built to run another 250k miles. injectors clean, new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, pistons, rings, valves, cams, powder coated valve cover
- has bavauto chip installed
- bilstine shocks, street sport - lowered - 5 years old - approx 15k on them
- new lower control arms with upgraded bushings (bavauto.com)
- caster camber kit in front (bavauto.com)
- fuel filter just replaced
- upgrade rotors and pads - ebc street sport, cross drilled and slotted rotors
- custom exhaust out rt side
- front seats redone in bmw sport red, interior trim is oem bmw sport red
- M steering wheel, shift knob
- full body and paint, back to orig black, some trim updated and painted
- yellow fogs, yellow high beams
- h4 conversion on headlights to interchangable bulbs
- new clutch with motor
- sunroof works, power windows, a/c, power locks, sport seats,
- new window seals(black)
- aluminum trim found and replaced with used trim
- bmp front bumper, E36 fog lights
- wheels in photo are exact syle but now a different color. black with polish edge
- Eibach wheel spacers, 20 mm
- smoked tail lights
The reason why I bought it:
And since this IS the NBP TL-S Progress thread, here are a few random shots from the last couple weeks I've been MIA.

dammit Jeremy has been reading my mind
Q, I agree, a traditional tail exit exhaust and probably bimmer rims, and you are all set
Love the red interiors with the black car...

Thanks guys! I don't like the exhaust either to be honest; I want to go with something out of the back driver's side with two tips; something clean. The modding unfortunately right now is at a standstill on both cars until I can get some parts sold and some bills paid
Something like this;
The vossens ARE for sale actually...I haven't gotten around to posting them and am putting it off as long as possible I honestly don't even really know how much to ask

I think $2000 or more WITH tires is more than fair for Vossen. That's what they're selling for, no?
About the exhaust...REMUS, baby!
Something like this?

Q! Part your headlights so you can trade for my stock ones!
Nice pickup on the BMW. It's not my preference, but I can certainly appreciate it. I would probably pick up an E39 540 if I was going beamer, I still have a weak spot for those.

AHHHH! I see you vultures circling lol!
Sold a set of aspecs today and listed the vossens in the BM
J; I'm looking at scorpion, Remus, and trimming exhausts but only after I get my odo cluster rebuilt. Took it apart today for fun; lemme tell you; it wasn't fun lol. These bimmer clusters are really touchy and some of my electricals are fried

Not much to report lately. Been a little busy!
The TL has been on beater status lately and I haven't done much except maintenance. Finally washed her after a couple weeks so here are some random pics.
The E30 had mostly been sitting as I've been trying to expand my knowledge on the car in general. Been looking at and making a list of mods I want to do when I get some cash to dump into it.
For now I'm putting a few things back to stock first of all I got some OEM kidneys for the grill (nothing like the original chrome) and some oem tails for it as well. The ones previously on it were cheap eBay smoked ones
Plans for the car for me are limited for now. I just want to get it looking like it's been restored, not cheaply modified. Definitely shooting for a clean oem but better look like I'm hoping I came close to with the TL.

I often wonder...because a lot of time I romanticize what it was like driving older cars I've owned or always wanted...then I've driven them and it's not that great in comparison to how much better the suspension/power/braking/steering is on the TL and newer cars I've driven.
Do you ever feel like that now with the Beemer?
Just curious...

WOOOOOOOOOOO. Sorry for the lack of updates everyone; I've been super busy lately. Took a random vacation to Colorado and went to a couple beaches in the last few weeks. Also started classes (my FINAL semester) and am taking 18 credits this semester plus an internship so needless to say, car modding is taking a back seat for a bit.
As of right now the bimmer is on chill mode. I worked a bit on rebuilding the cluster and its gotten better but still not 100%. I also don't have the money to put into it so its been sitting, washed and waxed under a car cover for the last few weeks.
To answer your question, J, I was lucky enough to pick this one up with the suspension and most of the car already overhauled. So honestly I love driving it and it drives really well. They only thing it needs is some work done on the shifter assembly and it'll be a lot more enjoyable to drive. Its currently really sloppy and when I drive it I find I miss the super notchy, flick of the wrist shifts I can make with the TL. Soon though when I get some money to put into it I'll have throw in a Z3 shifter and a nice knob
In other news. The Type-S has been steady racking up miles. Ran down to Myrtle Beach last weekend for labor day and put another 1K on it. Also got a flat recently on my Aspecs but luckily it was on the only mismatched (bridgestone) tire so I threw on a Conti and now all four match; like many of us I REALLY prefer the look of a matching set of tires. Also my damn cooler tipped over in the backseat so I pulled the seat out to dry properly without being musty.
Here are a couple random pics for you all
Why acura didnt give us a full size spare, I'll never know. Look at this damn thing!

Quan, my front 2 tires were getting that way too......

Sorry I don't remember the exact model but that sounds right. These 18x8.5's came with three continentals and one Bridgestone and I always wanted to replace it but the tread was ok. But when it went out, I wasn't even that pissed about it lol I just was glad to put on a matching Continental used for $50!
As little time as I have I realized yesterday a bit more water than I thought had seeped down into the carpet. Decided to unbolt the front seat and pull the carpet up to dry properly. I really don't want it to be musty. I have it parked in the shade now with 3 baking soda boxes hopefully to help reduce any smell I might end up with. I also am gonna air it out after and spray some oznium. I will probably also pull up the drivers seat so I can finally vacuum between it and the console properly since I've always wanted to.
Was bored yesterday and decided it needed a really good exterior cleaning after all the driving. Way too many dead bugs. I ended up going with a full wash clay and wax which kept me up most of the night but I've never been happier with the paint. I used Meg's clay it, Meg's ultimate wash, and Meg's NXT wax.
Disclaimer: she needs a godamn buff.

Very nice-my exhaust tips need attention too.

Finally got tires mounted on the vossens
These tires are the same size (255/30/19) but look a lot more stretched than the old Yokohama S drives. It almost looked funny when I first installed them actually, but I'm glad the stretch is more apparent cause it allowed me to go a lot lower without rubbing. I now can't fit my fingers between the fender and the tire I measured the distance from the fender and im about 24 1/2 inches from the ground all the way around. Rear fenders rolled and barely pulled and natural camber all the way around.
Lowered the rear another 1/2" and spaced my 19x10 rears out by 15mm we have a little poke action New rear offset is +21
here's a tease.
