Hey guys, Sorry for the delayed response!

Been super busy with other cars (work) but also with my E30.

Leak down test confirmed a blown headgasket. Got the head off this weekend and its getting checked for warpage and shaved. Then I will be sending it to get checked for cracks.

There were no obvious leak signs on the old head gasket so the fear is there might be a crack in the head itself. Sourced another one but haven't confirmed the if I need a new head just yet...

I'll keep you guys in the loop!

TL is on daily status lately. No new mods lately. Vossens back up for sale.

Getting the itch for an SUV or Truck...

And how she will be sitting until this weekend at the earliest..

Oh boy...you flippers are bad news with the swapping out cars all the time.
Hey, for taxes, do you just never bother to register any car you are only keeping for a short period of time? OR do you just bite the bullet and pay tax on it every single time?

Have you thought about any other long term maintenance item you can tackle now that it's all opened up like that?

Looks easy enough to work on!

I agree with Jeremy...I would perform whatever maintenance I can to get it out of the way for long term (water pump/spark plugs/valve job/etc)....

also, remember to use all new gaskets (from head to valve cover or etc), I have heard the bimmers are very sensitive to those...I reused my valve cover gasket on the TL and it seems fine

Hopefully, you will be all up and running soon....

Yeah, I looked around a few of the e30 forums and what not. Decided to take the savings from labor and put it into a ton of new parts. I placed my order for an oem-manufacturer's full Cylinder head gasket kit which comes with the head gasket and valve cover gasket, along with a bunch of other o-rings and gaskets. I also went with new timing belt & tensioner, water pump, thermostat, etc etc.

I'm lucky to have the help of a zero English speaking old school Russian mechanic (friend's dad is in town) and he's rebuilt countless broken timing belt engines among other things. Head gaskets come second nature to him

Wow, that's awesome...so he just grunts and yells at you in Russian and you grab whatever tool is near you, hand it to him, he throws it back at you and yells again until you hand him the right one?

Well guys, I haven't 100% committed to this, but I posted the TL for sale in the BM.

I've got my eyes on a few different MDX's and have been thinking of switching over to an SUV for a while now. If I can sell the car as it sits for what I am asking, I can get basically the exact MDX I want. White, 09+ with nav and Bordeaux interior...I'm drooling thinking about it!

Here's the FS thread. I love this car....

Hey all,

Not a whole lot to report lately.

I've started a new job working at a local Acura dealer in the Sales department. We are the number 1 Acura dealer in the country. It's got me really busy, haven't had a whole lot of time to mess with the car lately. Just been driving and keeping it clean as usual. It's still for sale.

Still on the hunt for an MDX at a reasonable cost. I'm hoping to pick up a nice lease turn in or trade from our dealer as soon as we get one in that fits the bill...

Its actually the World's Largest dealer; Pohanka Acura. we sell more than anyone else

In March (before I started work here) We sold about 240 vehicles. The next closest dealer (number 2) was Acura of Westchester PA with around 195. Nobody in the DMV came close to us

This past weekend the part out of the TL started. I met with a local member and swapped my headlights with his. Pulled out my switchbacks, HID fogs, and LED DRL kit and put it all back to stock. Unfortunately I had to polish the stock headlights I received, but wow, I forgot just how beautiful stock type-S headlights are. I do miss the ZKW-R cutoff and 6000k Kaixen bulbs I had in my JNC modded ones. He really had outdone himself on those headlights.

No changing your mind to keep her, huh?
Betty and I were having this discussion Sunday about what other car I'd like...we couldn't really find a good reason why I'd need to move on from the TL. We agreed it is very good in all categories.

Well, I've been in the process of making the car more daily drive-able as part of this "part out"

I washed it and put in brand new OEM mats that I got for a steal of a deal. Also raised the front and rear about half an inch to make it easier to get to and from work (5-6 speed bumps that I couldn't get over without scraping).

As it becomes easier to daily drive, I'm leaning towards keeping it. But since I work at a dealership now its hard to not be tempted into something new... We have an 08 IS250 AWD w/ nav, push button start, heated and cooled seats, etc. on the lot right now. If it were white I probably would have taken it. I realize I am getting about 17mpg to and from work which sucks....and if I get an MDX like I originally wanted, it'll likely be worse.

For right now the plan is to put the TL back to stock for the most part and take off the big ticket items (lastly the suspension ) and see what we get on the lot. IF we get a good deal on a trade in vehicle, I want to be able to pounce on it.

BTW: test drove an SH-AWD TL Advance yesterday. WEEEEEEEEEEE.

Snapped this pic with the new headlights.

For some reason I love the look more every time I see them. They really did a great job on the OEM Type-S headlights.

Also polished my buddy's headlights. Way past due!

Driver's side untouched:

Passenger side finished and polished

Hahaha, thanks guys. Yes the word Khatr (noun) comes from Arabic and translates to a bunch of languages. Thats mostly why I went with it although "Khaternak" is the adjective form of the word in Pashto

BTW, my second choice was "Mordago," sadly none of my family would be willing to ride in my car if I had done that.

So I am pretty sure my clutch is going out here at 123k miles. I've secured a great labor rate and am gathering parts.

Ordered LUK Clutch set from rockauto.com for 160$
Going to also replace throw out bearing, rear main seal, upper trans mount and rear motor mount as well as compliance bushings. Also obviously gonna put in new GMSFM trans fluid.

Anything else you guys would recommend replacing while the subframe is being dropped ?
