^Looks amazing...can't believe you're maxed out though. I would've thought the Basics went at least another 1/2" lower.

Get that strut bar back on though, I'm sure you'll be much happier with how it'll drive!

Skunk 2's give you much more clearance as they're not any taller than oem balljoint, but they're PRICEY!!!

Kix, you already know...TOE is everything!

i just cut and raised my towers in my ek for my upper control arms as well, you can cut a bigger hole for more clearance and it looks a little cleaner when you pop the hood. granted my bay hasnt been painted yet so this is just to do for the moment.

this thing is impressive i love it! are these the functions?

how does it ride at this height? and are you on the suggested spring rates or did you go stiffer?

heishin, looking good, brother! Hmmm....I wonder about a chromey/brushed aluminum vinyl wrap for your mirrors!?!? Would match your theme pretty well!

06TLforLife...fkn awesome, man...I'd love to see that same setup on a WDP!

Crafty...that's some pretty serious clearance and fab work! Looks like a KFC box o chicken flipped over and plastidipped! But WOW...you could lay the car on the ground without every clunking there. I didn't need that much and won't be going lower ever...haven't hit anything since I made my little circle cuts.

the frame still needs to be notched for my tie rods and axles but maybe soon she'll be able to lay frame lol

In all honestly I didn't do it to go lower, the car sat on the top of the shock towers so I lost all my travel giving a really bad ride. I did it to get a better ride out of it because this is my daily driver

I'm not saying you have to cut bigger maybe just clean the holes up, just showing you some options.

My question was, I have coils in my trunk. I will install them soon. Anyways I saw you guys are drilling holes in the engine bay to have the car sit low???? I thought coilovers were plug and play just remove stock coils and install new ones and you are done.

I want no finger gap all around and have the form and function type ones....would I need to drill holes?

Thanks

Im on K Sport Coilover system.
I assume you are referring to my car. Again, the car was bought with the mirrors, wheels and spoiler painted that color. Wheels have been sold, spoiler has been removed and mirrors will be dealt with soon.

rockstar143: the car is going to be wrapped as soon as I decide on the color. Mirrors will be included in the wrap for a cleaner look. wheels will stay as is till i find a suitable replacement.

Crafty: Sweet loking ek man! Nice to see a fellow EK owner on here.

Cutting the holes in the shock tower is so the upper control arms clear, when you drop a car decently low the upper control arms bang on the inside of the shock tower

I see, if i drop it to no finger gap would I have to cut this hole? I really don't want to cut it because I want to get rid of the car next year and I am sure a big hole in the engine bay would not sit well with many people haha.

you should be fine without cutting. doesnt sound like your trying to slam your car. im tucking tires on 19's so i hit the shock tower only on big dips, nothing too bad.

if you ever notice it hits, raise the car slightly (1/4" at the time).

retardedorange...you will only need to do this if you tuck a little tire AND get a front adjustable balljoint to fix camber...it has a tall nut on top of the assembly that makes contact when your'e slammed. You're good.

J.

In reference to Heishin...jeez people, lay off...or read a little more of the thread or if you don't have anything nice to say at all STFU. I wish you'd post up your ride or a picture of yourselves so we could all take a stab at it.

Im really torn apart about the height of the car being like that. As much as I love LOW DOWN AND DIRTY...i bought the car for more function than form. I need enough room to take my kids around when the wife has the element. Being that low just eliminates that for me.

Having said that, the Ksports are set to the stiffest setting and it rides just fine to me. Stock spec tires and rims cushion the otherwise crappy roads we have here.

totally agree with the car and family vs day to day practicality. Mine is on the brink of meeting all the above without making radical adj and tweeks to go more, which really not needed. Although, there is still more adj and tweeking to do. Adding the audio system soon will require it with the additional weight then having the family pack in to see where I am at...IT NEVER ENDS ...lol

You will not need to cut any holes. Im on function&forms tuckin tire and it drives like stock jst a tiny stiffer.

...I was once called "a tiny stiffer"...
really hurt my feelings.

If you're really slammed, your UCA will likely hit the shock tower.
If you have an adjustable upper balljoint to fix your front camber, and are slammed, you will also likely hit the shock tower.
