John...you still pussyfootin about cutting the shock tower?!?! You KNOW it solves the problem and has zero adverse effects. YOu know damned well you won't ever drive that car any higher than where you're at now.

I'd do it right now if I trusted myself with a saw. I want the cut to be a near perfect circle, but I know if I do it it'll end up amoeba-shaped.

Okay haters, here's a vid of my LED strip puddle lights. I wanted something different than the traditional style, so I picked these up. They're slowly growing on me.

I like the puddle lights.

I have the traditional ones; 5 spotlights on either side. I'm pretty happy with them as they're very bright but I get the "SPACESHIP!!" comment all the time lol.

I have a feeling it will be very hard to avoid any Paul Walker & Fast and the Furious comments with the LED strip. At least you did it right with V-Leds and not cheap ebay

Sexy ass pics on the previous page John! I've been sitting here for the last 10 min trying to think about what to say about the new LED strip "puddle lights." I think overall I actually like the LED strip better, but hopefully it's really only used for when you lock/unlock the car for extra light and not for normal driving around town. Truthfully I think this looks better than the actual individual puddle light mod.

John...I dig your pud(dle lights).
On one hand it's hard NOT to immediately go, WTF, why does that ride have neons. BUT, on the other hand, if we weren't programmed to hate neons so much, we'd give it more of a fair shake. If neons had been installed like this from day one, we could have avoided all the negativity.

That said, I'd like to see on a switch for when you decide you're not in the mood...or if you want to turn them on while driving down a dark highway. AND, SOME in front and back...maybe move them in more, and get some for some front and rear so it seems the glow is coming more from the center of the car?

Pretty much what I was thinking, except you said it much more eloquently then I would have put it, lol.

Not sure where all the negativity came from...mods like this aren't cool anymore?

(taken by me in downtown Bangkok with my D90+50/1.8 in almost pure darkness at ISO3200)

Right now I'm just tapping on the border of what's innovative and what's a little tacky. I think adding the front/rear LED strips and putting them all on a switch would be Kool-aid man'ing it through the door into pure ricedom. Knowing how full of sh*t we are with our mods though, I'm definitely not saying it'll never happen...

Austin = unfriended by John lol.
Hey man it's not for everyone, and you're entitled to your opinion. At least you're not an ass with your comment like some people would be.

I agree with you about the puddle lights though.

lol thanks, it's his car, he can do as he wishes.

John, if you think it looks great, keep it, you're the only one it truly matters to. (I don't mean that in a negative way.)

John....I have to say they are definitely well done....The LED strips glow better than the neons and have a better focus of light on the ground....

I had the LED's back in 2008 and loved em but saw a 2001 civic with a fart can riding with neons and was disappointed just because I paid sooo much more for the car....but to each his own....

Sharky and you have def changed the game....Sharky with the rear caliper covers and you with the underbody LED strips....mods which most of us thought are "ricey" to pull off, you guys have pulled it off with style

EDIT: are you gonna roll with the lights on? or are these just ON when you lock/unlock?

Thanks for the kind words, Anil. I'm trying to avoid doing too many "cookie cutter" mods and trying to be different, but when you try to be different, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Oh well, you can't please everyone, and I don't aim to.

I won't be driving around with these on...I like attention, but not THAT much attention. Plus, I'll get pulled over in a heartbeat and once I get pulled over I'm sure the cops will find ten other things to write me tickets for.

Good idea keeping the lights as is and not altering them to come on when you drive. I hear a lot of guys complaining from NY as it is about tint tickets alone, so I could only imagine how much more attention these would draw. I think just the light alone on locking/unlocking the car looks very tasteful.
