I park in the garage and unfortunetly it doesn't help. The car still gets covered in pollen the second I pull it out and drive. I'd assume d-town's situation is the same. Sucks.

^Exactly the same, the car is garaged.

And no trance, I wasn't expecting you to wax it. I'm going to do it or take it to Hi-Def Detail.

+1

Garaging only delays how long it takes for the car to be saturated in pollen.

I keep all my cars garaged or covered. You will never stop them from getting dust on them.

Thats why a light dusting in the morniing before you leave is the best bet

Just finished waxing the car...I used Meguiar's NXT 2.0 Wax. It looks really good. All I did was wax the entire car with the little bad that came with it, the wiped it all off with a cotton towel, the wiped over the entire car again with another cotton towel. Also reconditioned the seats.

If you want it even smoother, use a clay bar. Followed by a coat of cleaner wax. The results will amaze you. NXT is usually my choice of wax also though.

I wanted to do clay bar actually...I just ended up not doing it for some reason. Next time though I will. Although, I read somewhere that the NXT kinda acts like a clay bar. Not sure if this is true though.

A clay bar will get crap off that's embedded into the paint. A cleaner wax does this somewhat, but not quite as well. An actual paint cleaner before waxing is good too. Beware that claying takes forever to do. Some nice quality time with your car. Haha.

you need to wash it out with dish detergent. Dawn is the preferred brand then claybar the shit out of it. After that you wax. But yea...thats it.

clay bar. was the death of me.

I tried it ONCE. and i got so tired after the hood and the trunk. I was back and forth with the towels, the cleaner wax spray, the clay bar, etc. When you went to wipe off the car with a new towel, you needed another towel to wipe your hands because the clay bar got all over, etc.

And also i felt like i was rushing it - you could tell the parts that i didnt spend tons of time on. you need to be meticulous when you clay bar. imo, the results we not worth the time.

If you was the car a lot and dont wax... i recommend the new meguires carauba car wash - really thick yellow car wash that i just picked up. I usually wax my car a lot with carauba cleaner wax, but after this, it felt and looked almost as good as wax. best carwash ive ever used, smooth after you wipe the car dry.

Sounds like you got the claybar too wet. I have had no issues and I have seen drastic changes in use.

dish detergent usually strips your clearcoat off. Trust me, I know

there should be some specific wax cleaners out there that dont harm the paint

This. You HAVE to use the right kind of lubricant and it can't be too diluted. If the clay bar is too wet, it'll just smear off like mud onto your paint. Know from experience. I tried mixing two types of quick detailers once since I was running low and it just turned into a mess. Had to buy the right stuff.

Dish soap shouldn't strip your actual clear coat, just the wax on the clear coat.

uhhh probably not. Guess what I use? Soap and water. It works just fine and I use a spray bottle and I have never had any issues. Again it seems to be a user error to me. Your hands shouldnt be too dirty.

Dish soap CAN strip clear and layers off your paint IF you use it all the time. The only time you use dish soap (sparingly) is to strip off the wax and claybar whatever is underneath. Its pointless to claybar wax your not getting anything. Anyway let me know if you need any help on it Sean. I only have weekends available now.

Well, it's been a while since much has happened. But the last few days have been relatively car related. I painted my calipers black (trance was right, I couldn't wait) and I hardwired my radar detector, pictures will come up sometime soon, maybe a small shoot if I get the car clean.

Nice man! I painted my calipers back in November. Sadly both of my rear calipers seized up last month and had to be replaced. Now I have two black calipers and two rusty calipers

As requested here are some pics:

First, the dog said hi...

Now, first the hardwire, then the calipers...

Please ignore how dirty everything is. Also, the calipers aren't as shiny in the pictures...

Lol. I did get a little paint on the rotors, not that noticeable though. I am going to get ceramic pads and slotted rotors though. In fact, I got this idea from cltothetl, here is a list of future mods, in order-

RV-6 J-Pipe V3
CSL Carbon Fiber Lip Spoiler
EBC Red Stuff Brake Pads
Rotora Slotted Rotors
Carbon Fiber Hood
Comptech Supercharger

Heat for sure. I need to redo my grille though since it's starting to wrinkle in some places and looks like shit. I'll use a stronger adhesive on it.
