bluish reverse lights?
Car looks great...gonna have to mess with different programs for retouching. I know a lot of the art comes after taking the actual picture.

About putting your car back to stock...well, if you're doing aftermarket wheels you're going in the opposite direction. Funny you mention it though, I am ALWAYS wasting my time swapping, then swapping, then swapping. At the end of the day, I end up liking the modified look and the stock look and the fact that from certain angles people would look at the car and think it was OEM always makes me miss my mods. Rims, off for a week. Type S tails are on now, that's been 2 months but will likely put the ghost tails back on. Might mod them first...I juts never know!

Enjoy

See anything strange in this picture?...

Yeah they are PIAA Xtreme White bulbs. They actually have a blue coating on the outside but are a pure white when lit up. Weird.

I just think I need a change and swapping some lights won't cost me anything

Black roof is going on the car Wednesday at 8:30!

Dude...you're taking a 2nd shot at the black roof! Nice...I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

And I agree about the license plate. In Kansas, they only let you have 7 characters on the plate. Still....love the reppin'.

Thanks Steven! I know the roof will work out because I'm having someone else do it

A local shop that does a lot of vinyl work on boats, vans, cars, etc is doing my roof. $275 is more than I want to spend but I don't have to break a sweat over it. I just swipe the credit card and I'm good to go

Yeah I love my plate. You could always get UA7 FTW!

Thanks Alex! I've got the itch to get an aftermarket set of wheels but that won't be happening for a while.

Yeah I'm hoping to get j-pipe and race pipe by the end of the year. I think that's a realistic goal

What's new over in Charlotte?

Yes... Looking forward to the black roof on your car. Damn it anyway, but as you saw in another thread this weekend, I've got that itch again. I would go the same route as you are and pay to have it done by a company specializing in vinyl installation. My wife has reservations since she doesn't care for the look, but I'm hoping to spin around that obstacle by the time I have the money to do this. Anyways... Post pics ASAP! Your car is making great progress.

Yeah a few people have been like "wtf" about having my roof black, especially because it's vinyl, but they will have to wait and see it in person. Save your pennies! It's worth it

at least you can remove the vinyl if you or your wife don't like it after a while. I always liked the look...but it seems like everyone with ssm and wdp have that now. I think i'll do a wdp vinyl on my roof and REALLY show you guys who's boss.

Yeah it's caught on quickly with the A-Zine crew. Luckily I can think of only one other local member who has a WDP with a black roof and he's not even that close to me. I'll stand out around my neck of the woods

And I hope you're joking about the white roof. That would be gross.

I'm sure I will! The car will be at the shop in 8 hours. I'm pumped!

I've gotta work tomorrow afternoon but I'll bring my camera and tripod to work so I can take pictures when I'm off.

For the black roof!

And I'm doing my best to find what's "strange" in that one picture. I want to say exhaust tips, looks like the left one is a quad but it could be the angle. What's that near the rearview mirror area? Angel-type thingie, or is it just a street lamp?

Either way, sexy. The flush fitment makes me feel all good inside.

Great pics Tyler...your ride is boss man. Love it as usual! Good luck with the black roof...are you getting a NBP antenna or trying to wrap this one instead? That part can be a real PITA if you try to wrap it from what I've heard.

Regarding performance mods...that jpipe will be a great buy for you man. I still have the stock 3rd cat (may be swapped for a HFC in a bit) with my setup but I definitely feel some great torque pull because of the ATLP catback & jpipe. DOO EEETTT!! Mine has mellowed out really well with the resonator too...perfect IMO. I gotta get some new pics in my thread too, got the brakes on last Sunday and I should be picking up my RAYS lugs today from ups...

Thanks Zach! The vinyl shop is going to cover the hole with the vinyl and I'll be putting the antenna back on once I paint it, most likely tonight after work. They are covering the hole incase it rains and I don't have time to put the antenna back on.

Yeah I would love the j-pipe! The black roof will be the last thing I do for a while though, I just wanted the brakes and black roof for the national meet. If I'm going to drive 1/2 way across the US I wanted my car to look presentable

Please update your thread! I look forward to seeing what you have to say about the brakes and such

Black Roof Installed-5/25/11

These are shitty pictures, I didn't feel like editing or anything like that. Plus the car is fucking filthy.

Looks great right? WRONG.

I'm not too happy to say the least. When the sunroof is closed you can still see some of the white roof. Also, you can clearly see that the vinyl was cut too short in the rear. When installing the vinyl, the shop rubbed the vinyl sheet against the rubber pieces running down my roof that I sprayed with PlastiDip. The vinyl peeled that shit right up and all of my work was undone. So now I have a black roof that's too short, not covering the inside area of the sunroof, and those black strips look like shit once again.

I would have them redo it. When I was doing mine, a lot of dust articles were under the vinyl and I wasn't happy. The installer left it on there for a week so the dirt would stick and then redid the install. Did they relove the moldings? It also helps if they open the sunroof a bit to cut the hole so they dont cut the rubber by accident.

no it's the rear and the sunroof area. see how it's all jagged?

tyler, go back to them and have them do it again. i'm sorry, but i can't believe they gave you your car back like that. looks like a bunch of amateurs worked on your car. that vinyl is going to peel up in no time since it's not layed properly. i would be livid if i were you. go back there and have them do the job right, or get a refund and go somewhere else and get it done. places like that can't afford the bad rep.

stand up for yourself brother!

Ummm...at $275 f*** that...they charged you full price, they better do it perfectly or tell you they don't really know how to do it properly and you can get your money back and take your business elsewhere or even give it another shot. I know I'm nitpicky, but being able to see the WDP under is unacceptable around the sunroof, or the rear. If you had paid $100 to Paco at the swap shop, fine. But not at 300 bucks. Sorry. Redo it...take your time, take off my roof strips (actually take those off yourself) and do it right.

About the roof moldings...I want to say I paid $115 for new ones. Or when you have them off, plasti dip them again.

Nope, they didn't remove the moldings. From the looks of the install, they didn't open the sunroof either.

I sent the GM an e-mail last night with those two pictures attached. I'm going there tomorrow morning to speak with him.

Yeah it's that one piece. It's not terrible but for the price I paid, I want it done right.

stand up for yourself brother!
Yeah I'm not too happy and I think the GM can tell. Shit like this almost doesn't make it worth it

Yeah I thought it would be a lot better looking considering they do full vinyl wraps on boats, RVs, vans, etc.

My local stealership quoted me $300+ for those black roof strips. Fuck that.

Yeah that's the way I feel about it. I'm putting my faith in the GM and hoping that he will realize that it wasn't done correctly and he will have it redone.

NOTE: The car was sitting in the sun today and I noticed something weird on the roof right behind the sunroof. I looked and it had a purple tint to it with some sort of streak marks through it and some white showing through it. Any guess to what it is? Sharpie. It shows up black but in direct sunlight it looks purple. I guess when the vinyl was being installed they messed up a spot and took a Sharpie to cover it up. Seriously?

I wouldn't even ask for it to be redone- I'd ask for my money back. Those guys seriously have NO idea what they're doing, especially if they rip off the plastidip, don't remove any trim or even open the sunroof. And fucking sharpie? Really? Don't trust them. Next time they might drop a heat gun (if they even bother to use one) on your car or something.

^maybe it was the heatgun that burned a hole where the sharpie mark is covering?
