I am very curious about who your tuner is here in Denver. Mind sharing?
Also, with this talk of a 600whp TL you have me glued to my screen.
How far along are you with the build?
Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much you spending on it?
I have been interested in this for awhile, and now new life has been given to my interest

On next hand when Tuning these cars upwards to these high horse power close attention and a good tuner with a keen ears for motors is important ..

this ill say is more than talk ,Vato allowed us to prove power isnt an issue neither is Tuning where we are at now is what will be next weak link ,Vato car made 560whp pump gas on relatively low boost and 500lb tq ,motor recieved pistons ,rods ,valvetrain ,ecu ,turbo kit ,twin disc tilton clutch kit and with that said just to think we didnt even get a chance to put full 3" inch exhaust on ,or even a race gas tune ..

Exactly. From what I've read, the most popular sensor is made by GM and costs around $400-$500 depending on where you get it from. It says that it's an in-line sensor and that fuel must flow through it, which is what I'm concerned about. I need to find out the diameter of the inlet/outlet and determine if it's going to be a bottleneck for me. If it is, I may have to come up with a way to install it in a closed system and just circulate fuel through it.

I hate to say it but it would be nice to see what it would do at the track instead of FWD burnouts and lots of noise or videos of the speedo. The car in the video could be a 13 second car or an 11 second car, you just can't tell.
Good luck Bert. I hope everything goes well on your trip.

13 second and 11 second are both good in my book.

In my opinion, the drag strip is Not a good measure of a street car's performance.
Drag racing is all about the start (aka, "from a dig" and "coming out of the hole"). It is extremely common to see a true 11.0 second car to only do 13's because the car could not get traction. Once it hooked-up, it pulled like a true 11.0 sec car. But too late, the damage has been done to the ET already.
Now apply this to real world racing. How often does a stoplight race happen requiring you to nail it from the green light? In my experience, practically never. All of my races commence from around 20-30 mph at the earliest. It takes this long to entice the opponent or for both parties to realize that the "game is on".

Well over half of my random races were from a dead stop. A 20-80mph roll takes a little over 2 seconds so I want to at least get the fun of trying to launch it. Plus it's harder to figure out what it's going to do from a roll than from a stop.
The 1/4 shows the mph which indicates the power so even if the car runs 14.0 but traps 130mph you know it has high 10 second power if it could hook.
Nothing measures real world performance better than a 1/4 run. The car must hook on the street, if it doesn't, it loses, just like at the track. It's already hard enough to run a 600rwhp, 3,000lb car on the street somewhat safely, I'm not about to start doing 100mph roll ons just to satisfy traction requirements or a traction disadvantage of the other car. If it doesn't hook make it hook, that a huge part of racing. You don't change to race to suit your car's shortcomings.
I mean, what else are we supposed to do, post videos of the car doing burnouts or racing through a couple gears toward a camera which gives no perception of speed? Sure, it sounds neat but we have no idea how quick it is.

It is good having you back IHC. I missed you buddy.
I suppose my comments were more geared toward 12.5-13's sec type of cars. Yours is a 9 sec monster trying to run on the street. All I know is that if I nailed it from the start, I would never have any races because they would never attempt to run me down.
BTW.....
"post videos of the car doing burnouts or racing through a couple gears" YES PLEASE

I don't see the point of being part of a race where I am at the type a disadvantage a drag race poses for a hi HP FWD car. Just like you don't bring a drag car to the twisties to race canyon carvers. I am happy to race from a stop but just because I have 100+ HP on most fast cars I encounter which allows me to run them down hard and show the real potential the car has. This would be a different story if the cars were evenly matched WHP wise. I completely agree with inaccurate that most races I am in are started at around 20 MPH instead of revving at a light.

But this was not my argument, others turned it into this. My argument is why not measure the car's actual performance instead of theories and calculations? Why worry about the car's potential performance when you can see it's actual performance. The drag strip tells the truth, no excuses, and theories are just that. It's either quick or it's not. It hurts a lot of feelings and egos so most won't take their car out there. My first run with my "10 second" combo barely went 12s. It's an eye opener. I see tons of people who have never been to the drag strip that are ok with an estimated time or what it should run. I could never be happy with that. So again, why not run it, don't look at the ET, just look at the mph. MPH is unaffected by traction.
I should just put what my car should run in my sig since we're doing it this way. 602rwhp, 3,000lbs= 9.9@137 according to the calculator. Now how bad would it look if I posted potential performance?

I think Bert might have been having torque converter issues. Not sure if he ever got to the bottom of it.

Last post about this.... I WANT to see a TL turn in mid 120mph traps. IMO, this would validate that it can run with the 7.0 Z06, kill an M5, and 99% of the other cars out there. While I don't race my TL, I always like to see them win, we're all on the same side here. It just gets frustrating not knowing what the they run. At this point, even some video racing another car would be nice. I understand, not everyone carries a camera around, I never had a camera when I used to race all the time but at some point, isn't anyone curious how the turbo TL actually compares against other cars?
