well, just think...if you swapped over to drag racing...you wouldn't even need the steering wheel and all it's components...another 200 pounds...
and if you kept it garaged, you could chop off the whole roof, make it a permanent convertible with a roll bar.
LOL...I know it, buddy...you're WAY past that point...but at least you did it with class and put a lot of thought in. You don't just go haywire with a grinding wheel.

Hahaha i hope you're being sarcastic, because steering wheel with airbag is *maybe* 10lbs tops...where are the other 190lbs coming from??

Posted in my other thread but umm I might have to track in my 19 in HREs
I cannot get my spacers off and the RPF1s won't fit with the spacers on unless I shave the lug bolts down. Spacers are totally seized up I snapped 2 keys already trying to remove them...I am frustrated to say the least.

How thick is the spacer? Is it just seized to the rotor? I bought my car with a 5mm spacer on the rear and I basically had to ruin them to get them off they were so stuck.
edit: read what you said more closely. try taking it to a shop and have them GENTLY apply some heat to them and I'm sure they'd budge.

Saweeet! You've got plenty of time to spare too haha I've been in the garage with a matter of hours before needing to be on the grid. that is NOT fun, to say the least.
I saw the list of the people/cars entered for friday, looks like it'll be a fun day!

Man I was starting to sweat a little. Good advice about the heat btw I think that did the trick on the spacers.
Yea I even got 1 other guy from acurazine to sign up who I have never met before, but it will be cool to have a fellow Acura owner out there.

Question for everyone - Is the metal bar that runs through the dashboard structural in any way? I can kinda see it both ways but wanted to see if anyone had a concrete answer.

Hankook RS-3s. Brakes are the factory Brembos (which are now more brown than white) with ET500 pads, Motul RBF600 fluids and SS lines. Brakes seemed to hold up fine but this track is not super technical so they had time to cool a little between corners.

I checked the manual. Sometimes a person can get a clue on the purpose of a part by how the part is named. In this case, the part is called "Steering Hanger Beam". So using this as a possible clue, it doesn't sound too dire if it was deleted.
I have eye-balled this beam in the past. Taking into consideration how the beam is situated in the car, I would say that it is not offering much in the way of frame stiffness or frame reinforcement or collision protection/integrity.

Can't offer a concrete answer as requested, but....

Did a little experimenting with extended side skirts today. Materials were a high density plastic used to edge pavers from home depot. It comes in a 2 pack and are a little over 6 and a 1/2 feet long each. Which you need cuz the side skirts are just a few inches shorter than these. It lowered the line on the side skirts by about 2.5 inches or so and should help prevent air moving along the length of the car to get underneath and produce lift. I just used self tapping screws and screwed to the OEM side skirt itself and it is very solid and sturdy. Beauty of the material is that it is strong and stiff, but is designed to bend to make curves in sidewalks and whatnot so it can get bumped/scraped and be returned to it's original shape.
I'm sure you can see it doesn't go all the way to the front wheel well. I'm original plan was to just cut a relief for the jack to get thru and still be able to jack the car up. Unfortunately, my car is low enough now that the relief area ended up being so big it just didn't make since to keep it. So I just cut it off and will try to get a different, more low profile jack and see if I can add some back to make it more complete looking.
definitely need to see if I can still get the car on the trailer hahaha It's even hard to get your foot under there now
