great link!! Gerzand really goes in depth on everything needed to know about tuning and messing with megasquirt....Def will be reading that once I get a laptop hooked up and start messing with it.....

Andy is the man...that's 100% sure.
Y'all are lucky to have him interested in finding out how to make this work as much as you all are!
I honestly have to say though...ever since this thread got back on track. It's been kinda boring since it got back on topic.

so just have a great update about the JnR ECU in regards to mpg and range count on the trip computer of the info screen.......I managed to get down to 3miles on range of fuel before empty and when I topped off it filled $64.05 dollars and a total of 16.016 gallons......So given this info with JnR ECU it basically lets you get about under 1gallon before reading empty or 17.1gallons which if it went that far you would really be fucked.....
So in short with JnR ECU the fuel range more accurate then the stock ECU which leads me to believe Honda with their stock ECU left a big margin on the Range fuel to actually being empty.....With stock ecu when range said 0miles left it meant you still have 2gallons in reserve and it will not count this...with JnR ECU in it gives you the actual reading up to roughly under a gallon. Now I can rest a bit easier when reserve light kicks on and it shows I still have 60something miles left or when I top off it shows more then >468miles.....
I do have 1 gallon jug in trunk and will let the range get to 0miles and confirm I should still have roughly half gallon before running dry...I could not get to do this and filled with 3miles because I had to go somewhere and get on the highway and would not know if I would make it to a next gas station with just 1gallon filled, just being on safe side.
Hope this helps anyone with the JnR ECU and seeing crazy fuel range numbers and wondering if it is actual or false, which according to my reading it is indeed accurate enough for you to let it get close to 0range

^^^ Boston, I think you are running stock injectors right?
when you upgrade your injectors the ECU goes by the duty cycle and hence messing up your MPG/Range
when i performed a little experiment, this is what I noticed (stock ECU/stock injectors/just bolt ons)
When the light came on: ~3 gallons are left
When the range goes to 0: ~1.5 gallons are left....
So if I read the post right, when the range is ZERO you have ~1 gallon left?
also how much did you top off?

with stock ECU it would show a much lower range when reserve light came on.....
But yes I topped off with 16.01 gallons so yes with a range at 0 there should roughly be 1gallon left in tank.

I doubt the MS3 has control over the TCM. Its time to replace your speed sensor....there is a DIY somewhere on here....let me try to find the link...
Possible causes
- Speed sensor harness or connectors
- Sensor circuit is open or shorted
- Speed sensor Help with this
When is the code detected?
Diagnostic trouble code is detected when Transmission Control Module (TCM) does not receive the proper voltage signal from the sensor.
Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Speedometer improper reading
- Possible shifting problems
P0720 Description
The speed sensor detects the revolution of the idler gear parking pawl lock gear and emits a pulse signal. The pulse signal is sent to the TCM which converts it into vehicle speed.

^^^ how long do you run the stock ECU? i think the codes have to reset....
now if you drive on the stock ECU for couple days and still no code, then the MS3 is to blame....
have you contacted Andy/KN ?

Not that I can speak directly relating to the ECU swap...
but what I feel I've learned overall with our cars and anything to do with emissions codes etc...it's that they are VERY fickle. They come on if you go above/below a certain threshhold and then they come and go as they please until the car gets "used" to whatever you have done to change it.
I'm convinced of it...now, 3 months after messing with exhaust/jpipe/cats and MANY different CEL's...it seems like it's stabilized and has gotten USED to the way the car runs now with the way it breathes now. But it took a WHILE...I thought you make a change, reset the ECU and BAM...but it's not true.
This fkn car is too smart for it's own good!

How quickly do you throw the code after connecting the MS3? Is this a code that locks in once it's thrown or does it come and go?
If you want to send the harness to me, I can check the wiring for you. I'll PM you my address if you do.
Except for the slightly wonky idle and throwing misfire and rich codes when the idle dips too low, my car is running great. I am finally able to enjoy it and I am marking my mileage on this tank to see what I am getting for MPG. So far, it doesn't seem too bad.
I'm also running a 100cel cat which helps tremendously with the stank. But I still need to tweak the boost table to make it better.
I was pissed whenever I would get a cel but now I always have it lit. I've learned to live with it.

The reason for the P0720 code is unknown at the moment, but here is what's know so far (through my own testing and speaking on the phone to other forum member also running the MS3):
-The code only occurs when running the MS3. Returning to stock ecu, even with a built race engine does not throw the code.
-The code puts the ECU into a behavior where engine pulls top end timing above 5k, and my car lost 50hp on the dyno when stock with boltons inbetween clearing of this single code P0720. It was like clockwork with alternating dyno runs (with/without/with/without P0720 code).
-The code only shows up (might flag but doesnt throw a CEL) AFTER the car is power cycled (off/on) following a driving session which triggered it.
-The code DOES NOT always get thrown following the first drive. Therefore, one might suspect it is due to something we can somewhat control its exposure to (maybe).
-I have received a recommendation from a Honda tech that I closely monitor occurances of this light following agressive driving or other scenarios where there is possible clutch slippage. This code can sometimes be thrown on stock cars due to a mismatch between the output shaft speed of the tranny and the crank sensor speed.
-I experience this code nearly every time I take my TL out, and I have a OBD scanner that I clear it with which rids be of the issue for the moment until the ignition is cycled after the next drive.
Thats all for now!

Are any of you running the extended harness?
It is so odd that some are getting this and others are not. I haven't seen this code at all but I am running the short harness.
I suppose you could prove this by building a jumper plugs for the MS3 connections, but if the signal for this sensor is just being extended by the harness, this could electrically affect it enough for the ECU to think something is wrong and a jumper will prove nothing.
Just a thought.

I am running the extended harness with a slipping clutch and have never seen this code come up. I also don't clear my CEL very often so it could be there without me knowing, but the car is nowere near short of power as far as I can tell. I will reset the CEL today to see what codes come up.

I also experience problems when changing gears(its hard to go in and sometimes wont go in)
Also I have that unstable idling/high low reving which I know you fixed. Can you instruct me how to fix it on megasquirt? and I think I sent you my MSQ or KN TL did.
thanks

Thats insane that there are people still waiting for their product... i would not take no for an answer and get a refund. I still have mine boxed up and will probably stay that way until next year but atleast i still have it. I just better not run into any problems once i am ready to install it... Maybe i'll test it while im still n/a... and before one of you kills Rodney lol

this thing had such promise...that's why i bought it in the first place.
today, all i can say is that i'm happy i was able to sell it and i wish all the best for you guys that are still waiting around. i don't know how you do it.

...his response was "that won't be necessary"? Who made that call?! Just based on that response alone, I'd get my money back. Wait till this thing is fully developed some time down the line.

man i feel sorry Noober...
i have been waiting on my fuel pump and pig tails for the injectors and afr unit....
the worst thing is I have no idea where Rodney is or what he is upto....he used to give me updated until couple months back when shit stirred up in the thread but I havent heard anything from him....

Justin, you sure the text didn't go something like this...
"hey Justin, was just in the shower. Thought about you."?
I'm sure Rodney is around, but honestly, I wouldn't get involved. If he'll BS you guys that handed him over $1000 dollars I can guarantee you he'd look me right in the eyes and tell me that it's all shipping out, or gtf off his property. Like I said, I met him once, was a nice guy, had a beast of a turbo, knew his ish and wasn't full of himself. But I don't KNOW HIM, KNOW HIM.
