Smile Just got mine...

I'm 27 and a Network Security Engineer in Atlanta. I'm still grinning b/c I've only had mine for about 4 days now. It's an '04 Black/Gray Non-Navi which I bought used, which helped me to be able to afford it. Payments are about $500.

Guess it's my turn.

24, about to graduate with my MS in CS. Trying to find a job in the 60-65k range. Had a few interviews, no offers yet. I don't have a TL yet, and probably won't until 2007-2008. But I fell in love with them so now I'm living vicariously through all of you =).

Once I get settled in, I figure I'll save up to put at least 10-15k down. I figure if I can save up that much then I know I'm stable enough to get a TL. (Of course the gf has been hinting about a ring, so a big chunk of that down-payment might have to go towards that first).

20- Make just under 50 k a year with everything. I get $500 per month for car allowance from the company. I pay the difference. I looked at G35 coupes as well until i realized they are $40k new with what I can get in the TL for $33k. Still living at home and getting a bachelors in finance through Univ of Phoenix online. Waiting on my buddies to graduate college and buy a place with one of them. Just living at home saving until then. Parents dont mind.

My wife and I both busted our backsides working and going to school.
I have an engineering masters degree, she's got a computer info systems masters degree.
We don't have kids, at least not yet.
We've moved up in the last 10+ years, life is good .

The raises we got this year will pretty much make the $648 payment (4.9%/60 mo, $1k down)

The only debt we have is the house and this car; we pay the balance on the credit cards every month.

My wife’s car (me the driver, while she sleeps during our 45-75 min commute)

28, MD, 80K, microbiology... Great at saving money could have paid off 2 of the car in cash. Put down 10k plus a 1.2k beater. 5 year $460 per month.

I believe she is way under paid for what she does and I’m way over paid for what I was hired to do. (if that was all I had to do)

I'm a sales guy and I lease my TL. IRS lets me write off about $0.45 per mile. I also get a car alowence that needs to go towards a car payment. I estimate that it costs me less than $250- per month to use my TL for personal use.

Rather than Shelling out $15K-20K for a down Payment, why not take that money and use it to pay for an entire 36 month lease upfront? You will drive the TL and have no payment for 3 years. At the end of three years you can buy the car out for about $20K, or use that money to lease and drive a new one for another 3 years. If the car gets hit, it is going to take a major depreciation hit that is covered in American Honda Finance Gap Insurance. If you own the car, and something bad happens, you screwed when you go to sell it. If you know that you do 30K to 40K of miles a year, you can buy those miles upfront for about $0.20 per mile. For me, I am able to reconize a fixed cost on driving a TL. On my last lease because of the milage and condition of my RSX-S, I receiver $2,500 in positive equity when I turned it in that I was able to use for taxes tags and 1st month payment to drive off the lot for $0.00. When you are young and trying to get out of your parents house, $20K towards a down payment on a home is a much better choice than putting $20K as a down payment on a car that depreciates rapidly. Leasing can be a cost effective alternative for some people.

I'm a 33 year-old single mother (Marketing Manager for engineering firm) who traded in my 02 Accord lease last year for my 02 TL because of this new job that would have put me WAY over my contracted lease miles. I'm on a 6 year plan, paying $389, no money down and no money lost on a broken lease. I'm sure they made their money on the remainder of my lease somehow!!

I live in Harrisburg, PA, make $52,000 a year, and pay $64 a mo. for car insurance. I also have some annoying debts and a $176 a week daycare payment, and like to drink good red wine, but I still seem to manage ok. I guess it all depends on where you want your money to go. For me, it was important to have a dependable (and enjoyable) car that I could drive for one hour a day with a 3-year old in the back seat, while listening to the Wiggles!

network engineer. traded in my rsx-s (it was paid off)...used the entire trade-in for my down payment and financed the remaining $13k. i see no reason to pay cash when interest rates are so low on auto financing.

Quality Assurance Senior Lab Technician (Aerospace), I loved this 3rd gen TL, since it came out in 2004, I was able to pay for it cash, after I was offered a job at a competitor company, was offered a wage increase of 25%, plus a bonus to come over,so I left my former employee of 18 years. Yea, I did show off my TL to my friends at my old company, I was only at my new company for 2 weeks before I bought my 2006 WDP TL.

I'm a college student, but my dad owns a lot of stuff. I have a 2005 Acura TL w/ Navigation which my dad got for my older brother, but he gave it to me when my dad got him a 2006 Lexus GS 300 AWD. My dad will be getting me a 2007 Acura TL or a 2007 Infiniti G35 ( or whatever else I change my mind to ) this fall. I'll definitely be pursuing a entrepreneurial path like my dad in the future. It's the only way to go.

Interesting thread...no TL yet, wife and I are trying to decide between TL, IS250, and 325i.

I work for a biotech distribution company, wifey works for facilities management outsourcing company here in the bay area, CA.

Household income of $280K, but those of you that live here know that doesn't go very far...

bought a 280ZX Turbo when I was 16 for $1000.00
a 95 Civic DX when I was 17 by 18 it had a swapped built turbo motor in it
from headwork to sleves.
then traded that to a guy for an Audi A4 + $4500 cash.
Traded the A4 in on a 350Z (still have that to this day) I did that right before I turned 20. then bought a beater civic and just traded that in on the TL a month or so ago.

on top of that I also had a handful of street bikes to this day I still have a 2002 CBR.

how do I do it? um I work =)

350Z was paid off a few months back.
TL I put money down + the civic and have a basic 4.9% loan out on it. I should have it payed off in 2 years.

so anyways... 23yo work at a pizza joint. been there going on 7 years next march! I also do prepaid legal on the side, not as much as I should but its still there. extra cash is always nice. http://www.prepaidlegal.com/go/jsnortham
I was home schooled never did jackchit. Didnt even get my GED till I was 21 and I still feel that was a waste of time lol. oh I also live on my own.

I feel you can make good money doing anything, it's all about how you work not where you work.

Damn, I see some serious big ballers in here. Not me, Im 28, work third shift as electronic technician and work about every third weekend. With all that weekend OT I only make about 60k to 65k a year. I dont know why but the harder you work the less money you make, haha. I have an '06 Anthracite w/Ebony 6 spd TL.

Just got rid of my Yellow '04 Honda S2000 for the TL. That was my baby but I needed a winter driveable car now that my beater(1990 Civic SI) is losing it.

Do keep in mind that areas play a big part of the big ballers.

If you work a common job making 50K in maryland you should make around 28-32K in some southern areas and central areas. however head west in some of the CA areas and that same job could be paying 80K+

it's all about the cost of living.
