Corporate counsel, looking to retire in the next 6 months, after working for an international firm 15 years. Used dividends I earned last year from an appreciating stock, to purchase a depreciating rolling stock.

27 and a biostatistician for a pharma company, ~80K/year/1 year exp. My old car broke down and rather than put over 2 grand into a '97 Prelude SH I put it into a '06 TL. It might be gone next year though depending on How things go. I'm waiting to see what the new G coupe has, plus I'm pretty far in the application process for the FBI. They give their agents a car so I won't need the TL at that point.

Im a flat rate tech at a Ford dealer. Been out of school for 5 years now and made $70k each of the last two years, and I work an average of 30hrs a week. Im the only diesel driveability guy at my shop and thats about all Ford is selling these days, so I get to write my own check to an extent. Theres plenty of money in the trades!
I also day/swing trade stocks from a computer I have set up on my toolbox. The TL down payment came from, and all of the payments will come from the brokerage account...god-willing, lol. The market is the greatest weath-creation machine we have in this country! Learn it!

My wife bought it for me as an early XMas present. My wife did some acting before we got married. The Wonder Years, Saved by the Bell, American Dreams, Boston Public, etc... She paid for it, cash. I love my wife... Unfortnately, I have to hide her set of keys.

Probably one thing skewing this thread is the location where folks live. For example $100,000 in California is probably less than $60,000 in San Antonio TX.
For me and my wife (in Kentucky), I made $80,000 and my wife $60,000 last year, no kids. My company also pays me close to $800 (tax free) a month for my car...so I guess that made 2006 closer to $90,000.
Salary wise (because I work in sales) I can make anywhere from $70,000 to $110,000. My 2007 salary is already looking to be close to $90,000. There are sales opportunities where I could earn more, but I only spend about two nights away from home a month, I work from a home office, and my boss is two states away. It is worth A LOT to me to have the flexibility to make my own schedule. I have lots of other perks as well...company credit card for entertaining clients, free cell phone, laptop, and high speed internet.
I am about 30 weeks away from finishing my MBA, and I may test the market after that.

37yo Product Marketing Manager with MBA living in the Chicago burbs. No kids, no CC debt, no car payment (paid cash) and make over $100K/year (have done so for the past 4 years). I am currently aggressively paying off my mortgage on my house and will meet that goal in October 2008 (if all goes as planned). I also put 14% in my 401K, have a company paid pension and over $100K saved in personal Mutual Funds.
I agree with some of the other posts I have read on here. Higher education is definately your best friend long term.

31... Integration & Field Deployment Engineer for massive wireless company. About $70k a year including bonuses (1 income only)... Central Florida. I just got an 03 TL-S w/NAVI two weeks ago... paid cash. Would have loved to go for a 3G TL, but the money saved didn't go that far. Married with a 2 year old and another one on the way. No CCs, but mortage of about $1k/mo.
I so totally agree with the posts in regards to putting your money where your heart is. Get your priorities straight and you can get what you wish for... most of the time... and w/o suffering in the basic expenses.
I must say that buying a 2 or 3 year old car can save you tons of money!

I am poor Information Technology Analyst guy. I make about 54-55k a year. One thing is, I am an immigrant and my start in the US was something that some of you can’t even imagine unfortunately. I have only been in the states for about 8 years and started with nothing: no place to stay, no family, and I could not speak English etc. I have done ESL classes (English as a second language) for few years, finished my associate and bachelors degrees and work through the corporate ladder to get better position/money. I know my employer does not give crap about my education, but I am really motivated to get masters degree (either MBA or Project Management) and move on. Hopefully, one day, I will achieve what I want, and set a good example for my future kids when I get them.
My TL is probably the most expensive vehicle that I ever going to own, although I dream of 335i sedan with 6speed, so perhaps a used one might be a possibility down the road.
Question to people with higher education – does Masters Degree really pay off down the road?
