Life span on the stock battery
these delphi batteries give out pretty quick. I asked my dealer on the 06 4 year waretey, he said that the batter is replace no charge in the first 2 years, half prorated in the next 2 and then after that the owner has to pay.

Same here.....
My suburban however has required 2 battery replacements within 5 years.. Yep, same Delco battery on the first two.. Third one I changed myself with an aftermarket due to being out of Warranty..
My dealer just replaced my 2+ year-old battery. I didn't even realize anything was wrong with it, but they tested it during my last B service and ended up replacing it and the battery cables, due to some corrosion, under warranty.
Mine lasted 1year 10 months. and out of nowhere it just stop working. One day I got ready to go to work and the key fob didnt work, opened the car manually and turned the key and nothing, not even a little light or anything.

Did you use the Acura roadside service? If so was it OK??
2yrs + 6 months on ours...
4-6 years is the average service life of the battery used in the TL.
My wife's Honda Pilot has a similar Delco battery and we just passed through 4 years. My dad has a 2000 Honda Accord and it is 6 years. People getting less than 4 years may be in severe conditions, hot climates do in batteries. Friends who live in AZ tell me of 2-3 years being typical for batteries there. Up in Mid Atlantic, 4-6 years is norm esspecially for maintence-free batteries.
Two things will deteriorate a lead-acid battery, vibration and sulfation of the lead plates. The vibration will help break down the lead plates slowly over time. Anyone who every owned a Harley knows all about this. Sulfaction occurs when a film builds up on the lead plates decreasing their capacity. Not periodically charging the battery creates sulfation.
Most lead acid battery failures tend to be graceful degradiation, meaning they slowly loss their storage capacity. This gives you some advance notice, you start the car and the starter cranks slower. this is not true for all cases however, sometimes a cell short will cause the battery to fail suddenly. I owned a 89 Legend, all the batteries it used would just suddenly fail. My guess is the battery location was not optimal for vibration and heat.

Dead battery
Although my driving isn't typical....my car sits for weeks at a time without being driven, although it's in a heated garage. But, my battery lasted only 2 years before it totally lost it's ability to hold 100% charge. I've managed to put a trickle charger on the battery to keep it topped off, but typically, within a day or so, it will drop to less than 60% charge just sitting in the garage. Give it 3-4 weeks, and the battery is totally dead. OH...btw....2004 TL, 6MT, navi.
