G-109: DIY-Eliminate LED Bulb Induced Hyper flashing WITHOUT LOAD RESISTORS
#563
are the .22ohm proven to work? because I found a place down the road that sells resistors instead of having to get them online. So would I be ok with the .22ohm or should I just buy a .24ohm or solder 2-.12ohm?

I can only attest to the .24 resistor. It worked perfectly for me once I had ALL Led signals. But did not work right with just the fronts. If you don't plan on getting LED rears then I'd recommend sticking with .12.
Stick with the proven numbers....22 might work just fine...but I'd rather stick with a proven one.

2 0.12ohm resistors soldered in series on the relay circuit board.
Front: eBay Type 2 Switchbacks 30amber/30white
Rear: eBay 27 5050SMD LEDs

Just bought these switchbacks for my '05 AT, but they're on backorder

7443
11.5-14.5V
360mA
I don't have LED rears, so I'm going to go with one .12ohm resistor and I'll let you know how it works out (whenever I get them in)!

I was talking to niktronixonline.com over the phone yeaterday and the guy told me that if there was enough demand for the .24 (~1/4) ohm resistors, they would start carrying them. So if enough people contact their customer service by e-mail sooner or later they will start selling them hopefully their resistors will remain 10 cents each with 1.99 shipping under a certain amount.

I think completing the circle here would be to contact Vleds and other major lighting vendors and let them know of this discovery for repairing hyperblink AT the module. Have them carry a few hundred of them, even if they make a little profit off the top, would be an easy avenue for people.

So today I sent those 120 LED F*%$ers back to autolumination...
The dual circuitry must have been defective, nothing else could explain it...
What are my other choices for brighter Amber leds (non-switchback)? The ones on vleds are $80 , rather not spend that much

Ebay, baby...ebay.
I think they have amber led blinker bulbs too but might operate somewhat like a switchback. I wouldn't give up on switchbacks just yet, my friend.
No local members that would allow you to try their switchback to see how it works? At this point I can get the parking light in in under 2 minutes with a flathead and the driver wheel cut to the right.

Hmmm....and this entire time, i thought that's why you were hellbent on getting this working!
If you have your ambers...look into some polarg super bright bulb (something like that...) They are like the oem one but with a slightly larger set of wires so they light up bright.

Those are the ones I bought on Ebay. When you engage the blinker it goes: parking light, bright amber flash, parking light, bright amber flash. When the blinker engages, or flashes, it is brighter than when the parking light is normally on. So, I guess in a way it kind of represents a switchback function without 2 different colors.
Hope this helps. I may be able to get a vid tomorrow morning after I wash the car.

For those running just amber how do they blink at night? When the parking lights come on do they blink less bright? I have white LED front 7443 bulbs and they are BRIGHT at day/night. When they blink at night they are NOT bright. When the blink at day they ARE bright.
What can the problem be?
So if all my lights are off and I turn my blinkers on, then they are very bright. If all the lights are on and I turn my blinkers on, then they are not so bright. They get dim when I turn the lights on.

Please bear with me.
I got my replacement 7443 LED bulbs since one was not lighting up when all the lights turned on. So I replaced the side that would not light up with the extra 2 new ones I got. Same problem it never lights up. Only lights up if I flash. Alright no problem. Bad bulbs I thought....
Now when I turn all my lights on the right turn signal arrow is lit on the dash and I can't signal at all. I removed the LED bulb and tried the 2 other ones SAME problem. I then tried a random 7443 AMBER bulb and it works fine. Anyone know what the hell is going on? Can it be the bulbs???
I put the 7443 white led bulbs I got today in my rear taillights and everything works fine!
Cliffs.
Installed 2 7443 WHITE LED bulbs on left and right side.
Left side lights up but right side never lights up. Only lights up when you indicate to turn right/hazards.
Got 2 REPLACEMENT 7443 WHITE LED bulbs. Tried them on the right side, neither ever lit up, would only light up if I was indicating to turn/hazards. SAME AS BEFORE!
NEW PROBLEM-When all lights turn on the right arrow is lit on dash and I can't signal. Only way to fix this was installing a random 7443 AMBER bulb.
HELP!

However, they were NOT using switchbacks, but I don't think that matters.

Hey Dave, prior to having the rear LED's I had an issue with the whites of my switchbacks not dimming when the amber would signal (when lows/parking on). Led rears and it all started working like a normal v1 switchback. I attributed it to me putting in the .24 resistor since we did that with intention of going led all around.
Orange...I don't know, man...but I'd go from your fuse to the wiring and trace it to the front parking light. Are you tapped into that bulb in particular for anything? If it's always the same location, might be a frayed wire or something that's shorting out. Strange.

I'm not sure about it yet, J. Both guys I did only had front LEDs.
I haven't had time to do mine---it actually will be a project since I have to remove the existing load resistors before soldering in the mini resistors. Spring project to be added to the list.
Aretardedorange, I'm coming in a bit late to your troubleshooting, but I just want to verify that you do NOT have any old-skool load resistors still in place. I'm sure that would screw things up.

^^^that's what I was getting at.
and no comment about "doing both guys"
LOL...Dave, you're a good guy...always coming in to try and help. Hope you had a stupendous New Year and Holiday season. I always think about the switchback and rear led's I sold you, especially when I just ordered a new set for myself since I have clear diffusers now.

No need, the 7440 socket will work just fine for the 7443 bulb, there's just going to be an unused filament!
If it's an LED though...more interesting would be to figure out if you could jumper two of leads on the 7443 bulb to get ALL the leds (equivalent to 2 filaments) to light up at the same time when signalling and being used as a rear signal.

ahhhhh i need to blow my frustration LMAO
should have read the full thread....well i installed the 0.12ohm resistor and i still have hyperblinking (front and rear LEDS)....
guess am gonna go get the 0.22ohm now

I have not upgraded rears to LED yet. But plan to do so, so I will also be going with the .24 ohm.
This worked on a Ridgeline first and other 3g's so pretty sure Acura (knowing how honda is) is running same sensor method on multiple platforms to detect bulbs out on a normal bulb system.

^^^agreed...
Swoosh, c'mon MAN! After reading all my issues with the voltages etc with fronts/backs and the difference between .12 resistor and .24 it didn't dawn on you!?!?
Get a .12 and solder it to your other .12!

^^^ nah bro i didnt read the thread....read the first post and thought of doing the install....
"Rockyfeller" PM me that he had couple .12ohms and i got 1 and he was nice enough to send me 2
but when i sold my switchbacks to someone, i was nice enough to ship that dude 1
so yeah am gonna go looking for a 0.24ohm unless someone has 1 sitting
