G-109: DIY-Eliminate LED Bulb Induced Hyper flashing WITHOUT LOAD RESISTORS

In other words no. If you want to upgrade your stock reverse lights to bright HIDs or any LEDs on the market, you do not need any resistors or anything at all.
Just simply remove the old bulb, put in the new. You don't need to add anything at all. Just straight forward and swap the bulbs. Just like changing the interior lights of your car to LEDs.
No need for resistors yo

Ok fellas go easy on me, Ive looked through this thread and I could not find the exact part number and place that you guys are ordering from. I just need (1) .12 ohm resistor for my front switchbacks. If someone has an extra one to pass on to me that would be awesome as well.
Oh and by the way whats up Anil, long time no see. We need to get together soon and hang.

i have 9 0.12ohm resistors. I bought the min buy (10parts) from Digikey and recently installed mine with no issues other then frustration getting the damn signal/hazard relay out from underneath the steering wheel.
if you are looking for one let me know.

had a lot of fun the other night, the gang is CRAZY (in a good way)....made my miss my STL gang LOL....
about the resistors, just get a 0.22 ohm one....

Yeah it was fun! Silvertl is gonna send me an extra one that he has. I dont plan on switching to rear led's so I think a 0.12 should be fine for my application from what I read. I may be recruiting you and some other folks to help me put on my aspec kit when I get it also

If you're going on the mission of having to pack and ship all these resistors, might I suggest charging $5 for them...you'd make a profit worth the effort and most people will NOT mind paying five bucks to get one. At least I wouldn't.
Dark Rican, I wasn't talking about the soldering, i was talking about the PITA of taking that relay out again. It sucks.
PS...my recommendation is based on MY experience...my front LED's which are for base 04 which are 7440....the white was staying on at full intensity when you would blink the orange UNTIL I either unplugged the rear oem bulbs OR installed the LED rears.
This was with the .24 resistor. So my theory was that you should stick with .12 for just fronts and .24 only if you're doing both.
Maybe other bulbs are different.

^^^ you mean 7443 ???
7440 is single circuit and 7443 is a dual circuit.....maybe you had that experience coz you installed the wrong bulb....
as i mentioned front are dual circuit (on + blinking)....where as the rear are single circuit (blinking)....if you put a 7440 upfront, it will just stay on and will not blink.....

So I finally got around to putting in my V2 switchbacks today. Thanks Anil for the resistors
Here's what the PITA relay looks like taken apart
I soldered on a .12 ohm resistor for just having front LED's. Everything went well on the first try - things blinked fine as they're supposed to (I've got a vid of it, haven't had time to convert/upload) but just ran into some problems tonight coming home from the bowling alley. The blinkers stopped working. The white works (parking lights) but they don't blink, nothing blinks on my dash, and hazards don't work.
I haven't looked at the relay yet, but does anybody have any suggestions or what could have caused this? Could it be the relay or a fuse? It was my first ever soldering job, so it might not have been perfect.

^^^ no problem bro....
did u use flux while soldering ? or how much solder did u use ?
easier fix would be if the resistor has come loose....I hope this "didnt" burn the 0.12ohm resistor....
remove the module and see if the 0.12 is sitting nice and snug....if not, solder it and see if it works....
if this doesnt work, replace with the 0.22 and see what happens....
PS: blinker not working means relay not working....check the capacitor/IC and make sure they are all connected the way they should be....

I plan on tinkering with the relay tonight. Hopefully it's not shot.
I went back and read through some of this thread again, trying to figure out how a 0.22 resistor came into play. The first few pages said 2 x 0.12 = 0.06 for all four corners. Then later, people used 2 x 0.12 = 0.24 for all four corners. Which is correct? And then what's the purpose of a 0.22? I haven't planned on getting rear LED's yet.

I used 0.24ohm.
If you use a .24ohm, it works if you have just the fronts, but if you plan on getting the rear LEDs too, it will still work.
If you use .12ohm, the fronts work, but if you want rear leds too, you'll have to swap the resistor AGAIN.

^^^ well if you have only front LED's then you need 0.06X2 = 0.12....later people used 0.24 since they have LED's in all 4 corners, so 0.06x4 = 0.24 and I think 0.22 came in just coz 0.24 wasnt available and someone tried it and said "it works"

If you solder the resistors in parallel, total resistance GOES DOWN.
So just because you have two 0.06ohm resistors and solder them together doesn't automatically make them 0.12. It depends how you soldered them together, in a Series or a Parallel circuit.

yes you're right, I meant 7443...not 7440...I'm very aware of the difference since you'll recall the issue I had with the whites no turning off when the amber would blink (like the sidemarker blinking issue).
Anyway, in MY case...the ebay bulbs I used would NOT switch"back" correctly UNTIL I put in the rear LED's too. Just my experience and I started off with the .24 ohm resistor.

^^^ yeah since that is toooo much resistance....you have LED's upfront and bulbs in the back on the same circuit and you replace the shunt resistor by a 0.24 ohm one....
am not able to diagnose Shoeface's problem coz he has a 0.12 ohm resistor which should work

^^^ but it was working in the video....
i think the solder melted from overheating the resistor and hence it came loose....either way, we will know when he opens up the module again....

I just did this mod a few weeks back. Bought the two pack of resistors from the local Fry's for $0.99, and bought the switchback LEDs from V-LEDS.com (took them forever to get them back in stock and shipped).
Hey you guys that have a FRY's it looks like they carry it in some of there stores

I honestly have no idea what happened. There didn't appear to be any physical damage like something was burnt. Anyways, I replaced the 0.12 resistor with the 0.22 resistor and same results - no blinking. I don't know enough about electronics and circuit boards to know what may have happened.
Either way, I ordered a new relay for $30, should be here this week. I'll be at a loss if it still doesn't work

such a helpful mod, alot easier than i thought.
just installed a .22 ohm that i got from frys, i only have the front switchbacks for now and it works perfect! where can i get the switchback sidemarker bulb and whats the brightest rear led i can get and where?

Post some pix of the relay (for us to see if you burnt anything while soldering )
with the new relay if you drive down to Olathe, will fix it for ya

Sorry this may be a bit off topic but does anyone have a good number for JLC Lighting? I've sent back their shitty merchandise back in November '11. I've called, and have never gotten through. I've emailed and have never gotten a response to the item I sent back.

626-872-6942...they sent this number to me on facebook to call them about a coupon code. I did and got right through to someone even though they werent helpful at all.
i really want to buy the led drl kit they have but i want to make sure their decoder works like it should and i havent found a direct answer anywhere.
anyone have insight on that?

P.S. i have 2 more 0.12ohm resistors if anyone is looking for them.

Here is some pics and video of what the V-LEDS 1157 60 SMT 6K switchback looks like in oem 08 type s headlights. The amber reflector is still in there and you can only see it at night and does not effect the light output.

New resistor came in the other day so I slapped it in as is and everything works again, just with the hyperflash.
Round 2! I'm gonna have my friend do it this time. He's repaired LCD/LED monitors before so it's a safe bet.

did u solder it properly or why didnt the first one work ???
both the resistors i send Shoeface, were working on my car....the 0.12 ohm worked fine but only killer the hyperflash when i hit the hazard light and not on the indication part.....the 0.22 fixed everything....
so both resistors worked on my car and none work on his....weird right ....
