G-109: DIY-Eliminate LED Bulb Induced Hyper flashing WITHOUT LOAD RESISTORS
#444
That's what I'm using right now for my front LED signals.
I bought mine from xavier25. Don't know if he has any left.

So here are a couple videos to show what's going on. The 1st one was taken within the 1st 5 mins of LED operation. Everything works like it should. >5 mins and I start getting the orange blinking on the correct side, and the white is blinking on the other side. I only get the screwy opperation on the front LEDs. The rears operate flawlessly.
Correct Opperation:

Incorrect Opperation:

(sorry they are links. I don't know how to embed videos from Image Shack)

I ran out of that...I used some new one i bought at radio shack too...
I'm no soldering expert, that's for sure. But i KNOW there is electrical solder. Make sure you made actual contact between the two...maybe you soldered to the board and not the contact point.
Guitarplayer, you're my hero. Thanks.

This happened to me...then again i dropped solder onto another component on the board which i think fuked it up. I ended up buying another relay. Have yet to try this mod again.

I'll give that a try. I bought my resistor from a little shop here that had been converted from a house to a business. They had crap EVERYWHERE, and I wouldn't be surprised if they sold me the wrong product. Things were just lying around everywhere. I ordered a set of resistors from the above mentioned online site. Also bought a new turn/hazard relay as I cracked the housing trying to get mine out. I'll swap the bulbs 1st and see if that fixes the problem. If swapping the bulbs, adding a new relay, and the resistor that has worked for everyone else doesn’t work, I’m going to order some non-switchbacks in amber color.

I feel like a tool...but I think they're working now. Spent $50 for a new turn relay and bought some new resistors from Digikey. Once again, my soldering was perfect. I reinstalled the new relay and still had the same problem, only MORE pronounced: Left turn indicator activated-amber non-hyper flashing on the driver’s side just like it's supposed to but the RIGHT side White color also blinked.
I thought, what the hell, I'll swap the left LED for the right LED. This makes no sense to me but...voila! Problem solved....so far! Why the hell this would make any difference is beyone me but I’m just keeping my fingers crossed it doesn’t start doing the same thing again.

Front and rear LEDs just got here from China. Still need resistors and don't want to buy 10 online. Anybody got any they are willing to sell?

#463
Does it on both sides. Example: left indicator activated= Left sided amber non-hyper flash & right white flashing at the same time.
Right indicator activated= Right sided amber non-hyper flash & left white flash at the same time.

From what I recall...you need a .12 ohm to cover doing the fronts OR 2 .12 ohms to be good for front and rear leds OR a .24 to cover front and back.
I'd rather just do the .24 or .12 (2) and call it a day.
Thanks to GP, I have 1 and I'll be soldering it in soon. I actually just resold the 1157 type s switchback kinetic accidentally sold me (or i accidentally bought depending on how you look at it ) so I'll be looking tomorrow for a set of good quality switchbacks...just not sure which to get.
I'm not sure if i want a version 1 or 2 style...leaning toward amber OFF amber (whichever that is) when signaling although the amber WHITE amber is nice too. I also want the BRIGHTEST I can find!
Feel free to chime in...leaning toward going with the JLC ones.

Glad you got the resistor!
I would be leaning towards the JLC ones too.
Sorry to hear about buying the wrong bulbs lol
@HQTL6SPD: I have 120 SMT LED bulbs and .24 ohm worked perfect.

I'm sorry I didn't let you know I had received it, I thought I had!!! I must be getting old. Thanks again for sending it over!
HQ, look at some of the posts above our last ones, looked like there were a couple offering to sell some "loosies".
JLC is good and bright, huh....I was also tempted by the 120 ones on ebay. Are yours SUPER bright?

Well, got the new switchbacks and I have the same problem. What the hell is up with my car? Two relay mods and two sets of bulbs and I still have the same issue. I'm going to forget about switchbacks and just get some amber LEDs. If THAT doesn't work, I'm going to have to go back to halogens.
#475
I know, and I LOVE LED's. I am just so tired of them not working and no idea why. The halos were fine. It would be really nice to have clear lights in the mostly clear reflectors but this is costing WAY too much to keep dicking around with them. Maybe next summer I'll try again and use some load equalizers.

My switchback v2 used to blink all sorts of crazy. Amber blue amber blue now they work just fine and I haven't done anything different to them.
Weird.
I am using just 1 .12 ohm and only have LED's in front. I would like to step up to .24 and get LED for the rear because they make a night and day difference in color and brightness.

Question for the electrical gurus.
I had this done a few months ago, using one .12 resistor. I have 92 LED switchbacks in the front and no leds in the back. I'm not sure if this resistor has anything to do with my situation but, my lights on the radio don't turn on anymore. I was at an electrical shop yesterday where they were trying to diagnose the problem. When I told him about the issue, he said it's most likely the "transistor" and that he would get a new one for me. He tried to replace it but that didn't resolve the issue. They reset my whole system and the radio back light would work for about 7 seconds before shutting itself down. The guy said it was going into protection mode since it was being overloaded. Apparently my gauge lights don't turn on either when I open my door, but they turn on when I turn my headlights on. He wasn't able to diagnose the issue and asked if I had done anything aftermarket to my car that was electrical related. Next time I go in we're going to take off the gauge cluster and see if something is wrong there since he said they're on the same circuit. Clearly I don't have too much electrical know how so if someone could let me know if installing the .12 resistor is related in anyway to my problem that would be greatly appreciated.

Just did mine tonight. LED rears and fronts. Soldered one 0.24ohm resistor and it worked like a charm. Knock on wood, no issues to speak of.
I bought my LEDs from seller cn.store on eBay and they shipped from China. Got them in 2 weeks or so and that was fine as I wasn't in a hurry to mod.
