He's blowing this out of proportion but I still think he has a point. The main thread clearly states to this day "lifetime warranty". It's not up to him as the customer to go and look for superseding information or ask the rep if the warranty is still effective. I know I wouldn't do it, it just makes no sense to ask around about the warranty since it's clearly written black on white. It would be different if there was absolutely no information about the warranty, then I would probably ask about it.

Innovative mounts also offers lifetime warranty on the bushings, bolts, steel pieces, etc etc you name it. And not "manufacturer defect" sort of lifetime warranty like Family Guy seems to be hinting, actual "you've went through bushings so here's some new ones" warranty.

Where I think he's being unreasonable is the offer from XLR8 to replace the bushings free of charge minus shipping thus pretty much offering the same service you'd get from Innovative Mounts. Every company works like this. Someone mentioned advance type RMA and that's also another possibility to discuss with XLR8 if they're open to that.
Can you blame him for being cautious about giving money to XLR8 after he found out his warranty has been voided without his knowledge though? Once again I'd be the same. Get fucked once, alright... I'm not going to get fucked twice.
The downtime is also a bit on the ridiculous side if he has to send the bushings back, wait for inspection then get sent back new ones. Expect a full business week at least. For a DD, it's kinda stupid.

Either way, we don't know the full story but it seems the case might have been handled a bit wrong from the start as they told him he had to pay for bushings when all information available to the customer suggests it should be under warranty.

If something is a year old, I generally don't even bother with warranty. It's generally a pain in the ass to do so, and if it only costs < $200, I likely got my money's worth out of it anyway.

The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (Trois)

I mentioned the advance RMA.

He's obviously just an l guy that got a little hot headed and declined to listen to reason when the company offered exactly what he wanted. For him not even opting to work with XLR8 shows his true character.

Whatever, I really don't even know why I'm defending XLR8, I don't have any skin in the game either... The guy was being a dick and expecting the world..

Implied that it's either life of the product itself or the product it services.
If Acura tells you powertrain has a lifetime warranty, do you think "That must mean X year" or "that must mean as long as the vehicle is active on the road"?

I won't be returning my CFL lightbulbs because they had 9,000 hours instead of 10,000 either. He got a good life out of the bushings, like I said I'd settle by paying the shipping. Done deal.

XLR8 handled it wrong from the start though. Customer isn't always right, you just have to make them believe they are. Say you're sorry, change the lifetime warranty in the thread to 1 year warranty, put warranty information on the page (XLR8 website is terrible btw), send the guy $100 of bushings and be done with it. Don't need people blowing shit out of proportion.

If you use the right key words...you can get some sort of vindication on your purchase, even after warranty is up. Stomping and cursing doesn't work...just the polite statement that you will no longer be brand loyal and may share your experiences openly with everyone you know.

Adam...give me a break. That's an old Snoop song

Daddy if I had nuts on a wall would they be walnuts? yes dear
if I had nuts on my chest would they be chestnuts? yes dear
if I had them on my chin would they be chinuts? nawwww b, you'd have a d in your m!

And if all else fails, you can always solicit libelous stories on the internet to blast them on yelp while you torture crickets.

I hear that works!

I was looking for it too. Both parties definitely could've handled it better but XLR8 put a great offer on the table IMO

I wasn't actively looking for a car. Brothers coworker casually mentioned that hes trying to sell SIL's miata. Brother told me.
Piqued my interest and said I'm interested.

So, of I get it, cool. If I don't get it, it's still cool.
