Yeah, if made correctly, in some places, you can't even tell the difference. In Taiwan, there are some amazing vegetarian restaurants where they serve "steak", "fish"...fried "chicken". Good luck being able to tell the difference with the real thing.
oh we have this nice vegetarian dim sum place here in houston. awesome stuff that taste just like the real deals. granted most of it is tofu.
Yeah, very tasty. Also, gluten and mushroom stems (shiitake) are often used to create texture.
Like here, it's very tough being vegetarian and well, my Mom is (being a strict Buddhist). So, eating out is often a challenge. But, in Taiwan, yeah, it's so easy to find her a place that serves amazing vegan dishes.

I have yet to have something like this. I've had vegetarian dishes that were good, but to go as far as say I couldn't taste the difference would be lying to myself.

You're in a pretty large urban center...so, probably have access to at least a vendor or two that carries vegetarian meat-alternatives.
One place locally that has decent vegetarian food here is the Buddhist temple. For a donation of about $10, you can go there for lunch and have some fantastic dishes a la vegetarian. I'm sure Montreal has places similar.
Buddhist temples make some of the BEST vegan foods.. I have a local temple we frequent just to get foods and it's ridiculously amazing.. We're talking bun bo hue but vegan.. tastes exactly like it.. bun rieu, spring rolls, you name it! It makes eating vegan twice a month tolerable

Yeah, they are good...but, extremely salty and likely using generous amounts of the sekrit ingredient: MSG.

What sucks is that the Buddhist temple is not open for supper and so, again, back to my original point, it's tougher in NA in general to be and vegetarian unless in a very large urban center that has a big Asian demographic. Eating vegetarian in Vancouver is stupidly easy. And soooo good.

Nope, well some what. I sign closing docs for my current house this week, next week I sign closing docs on the new house. I will never Buy and sell again.
