Ex-gf just texted me saying she dropped her phone in the toilet and now her home button doesn't work.
-"Should have let it dry."
-"None of my buttons work now!!!"
-"Should have let it dry."
-"ARGH this sucks"
-"Should have let it dry."

Not sure how many times it takes for someone to register what you're saying.

Work sucks, work computers suck even more.

Going home, making a pizza and a gin and tonic and going to bed afterwards. Pretty much done with today

Brother is like that. He got a gift 2 years ago, a waterproof case for his iPhone.

I'm not a fan of anything Apple to say the least, but without going into too much iphone bashing, their fragility is one thing that pretty much turns me off right away. My Galaxy S4 is chugging right along peppy as the day I got it, and its been ... well frankly its been to hell and back.

I hardly ever have my phone in my hand now since I have my watch.

No dropping accidents here.

Nicee. I like to straddle the line when it comes to gear, I use an iPhone but i use Google services to sync all my contacts and such (Don't use safari, Use google Chrome, Inbox for Gmail,.. etc. . I use a Pebble smartwatch because it's platform agnostic.. etc etc..

Both platforms are great for their own things so I use the best of both worlds and I profit.

1) Yay J&F love 2) Hell no - Although J&F really isn't as bad as people make it out to be, its only the housing projects that are particularly bad there. Its so expensive to live in T.O. now that J&F is starting to become halfway decent. Regent Park and some of the inner city genuinely ghetto neighborhoods are way worse. Even then, doesn't hold a candle to american slums, does it?

I have to give it to Google, the simplicity / integration of their services across their platforms is just so much better than any other platform I've used - Apple is so incredibly cumbersome in comparison

Yes, each platform works very well. There are certain things I miss about my Iphone but not enough to go back.

To each his own - A lot of younger people my age (21 going on 22) really don't appreciate a good looking timepiece and that makes me genuinely sad

yeahhhh Google services means since I'm cross-platform at work versus at home, it makes for a much better and more viable option to sync contacts, calendars, etc.. iCloud + windows is a joke..

I use my Apple products primarily because of iMessage. Texting over internet (aka when there's no reception in a building or on a plane) is great. I get to keep in touch with friends and family while travelling without worrying about reception. 1Password is also my password manager of choice which was primarily created for OSX/iOS. I bought the Windows version to use it for my work laptop as well.

I kind of have 2 chronos that I regularly wear as my workhorse watches for work that I actually need to keep the time with, and then 2 that I wear to go out - 1 to go with navy / browns, 1 to go with black etc

It's been a while since I've been up to J&F, Regent Park, etc. so I may be behind the curve. Makes sense though - plus the fact that the 3rd and 4th generation Guyanese and Jamaicans running around up there aren't as militant as their elder counterparts.

I have yet to want a smartwatch but I haven't seen one up close yet - on purpose

Every time I see a Louis belt I shudder inside. Frankly I think they're tasteless, with a suit or without. My mom has called it diarrhea brown and I tend to agree

The connectivity aspect I do have to hand to Apple. My mom used facetime with us while she was in Ukraine recently (right before the start of the Russian err, "intervention" lol) and it was seamless.

And I'm definitely a sucker for skeleton watches as well, but a lot of them seem to end up feeling very cluttered. I'm a minimalist at heart, so even a lot of diving watches tend to be too busy for me.

It'll be an Omega Speedmaster for me, and I'm actually hoping to buy one this summer as a birthday present to myself. Low on the list of priorities, but it is one of my dream watches and I'd really like to have one as I think they're pretty timeless.

Again, one of those young but old things for me. I don't get the belt craze. Don't get me wrong, I love my 3 Mezlan belts, and they're not particularly cheap either, but I love them for the craftsmanship and quality of the leather, not the "OMFG LOOK AT ME I SPENT 5 BILLS ON A BELT THAT CAN'T KEEP MY JEANS UP" statement that Gucci and Louis belts seem to pretty much convey 90% of the time nowadays.

Google has their version of iMessage, Hangouts. It's just not as tightly integrated as iMessage all things considered. It's great, but late to the party of the panoply of software you can use to chat.

What is absolute shit is their Chrome only extension for PC instead of a proper native client that is not buggy as fuck.

They do look cool, I appreciate that someone else loves them and is willing to pay that kinda money for them...I just hate anything on me...even wearing the ring was a huge adjustment. I hate the feel of jewelry.
At my age, I doubt seriously that my opinion will change.

Used to dislike it... then I changed. I feel naked without my watch, and as simple as this Tissot PRS200 is, I love how it feels on my wrist. Daily watch ha

Yup! Both my work watches might as well be called daily watches! One is a Skagen, extremely simple brushed stainless steel face, other one is a Haas & Cie my uncle got me as a birthday gift. Nothing pricey or overly flashy, but they work, the weight feels good and most importantly, they keep time flawlessly.

Yeah... I use GTalk/Hangouts a lot too. It's definitely not as great as iMessage both of which were pretty late to the chat game (think ICQ, AIM, etc.) But they blew up due to the success of their companies phones. I still use Hangouts on my laptop at work to chat with people but because so many of my friends have iPhones, the minute iMessage becomes available on Windows... oh mannn bye bye Hangouts.

Also.. yeah eff the stupid hangouts chrome extension! Chrome is a memory hog on its own! Who's brilliant idea was it to add ANOTHER layer of complexity by making hangouts a part of Chrome.. 1 GB of RAM to run Chrome.. smfh *grumble grumble*

I got tired of wearing watches at work because I am on my laptop all the time and it keeps hitting against the laptop and i just take it off..

He moved to Vermont and his english is terrible. That's how.

Yeah, you can wish iMessage comes for PC. That'd be TOO great.
Regarding Chrome, every browser now is 1GB for a few pages. Add-ons/extensions are great but they take your RAM pretty quickly. They made Hangouts in a web app, which is definitely not wonderful... Most of the time I simply open up a G+ page or my Gmail and chat from there, but it's nowhere as convenient as a dedicated app.

Me too.. call me old fashioned but when I used to admin VMs, I much preferred the fat client than their stupid web browser alternatives...

I'm sure you can understand the sentiment

Yuuuup. Ran Miranda IM for a while just for it's wonderful multi platform connectivity. Do you know if Hangouts is XMPP/Jabber based like GTalk was? I might just do that at home and use the web app while I'm away from my machine(s).
