Dark grey with amber looks clean.

Plus, the LED switchback turn signal bulbs are incredibly ugly themselves and due to their low resistance, the faster turn signal relay flick was incredibly annoying. Not being able to see the bulbs at all is just that better.

Honda almost got the stock headlights perfect. Had they blacked out the chrome bezel, it would've been bad ass.

Finally, it's one less thing to get hassled for by the cops here. Having no amber reflector on the front of the car is a no-no. Cops here will and have busted people for it.

And yes, the drum brakes were a bit of a fail. Part of that 5 hours (which I left out of the details lol) involved me having to drive home and back in my buddy's car to grab the pieces of metal that at one point were my old brake shoes, only to realize once I got home that the wife took my fucking house key off and I didn't have my garage door opener, then driving back and doing it all over again. That took an hour. Plus replacing part #6 took extra effort and time. Not knowing wtf we were doing, plus drinking beer didn't help either.
Murphy's law.. always turning a 30 min job into the weekend.

What I don't understand is you could have traded with a member here plus $100-200 for those cleared headlights. Heck I'm sure someone would have sent you theirs first.

You're a skilled and knowledgeable ME.. mechanical advantage mate. A couple of lessons and I'd expect her to create a nice pulley system or use hydraulics to make the job easy.

Heck, by the end of her first rotor and pad replacement, she'll be brighter than most graduating seniors.

Funny thing is, I had the headlights posted for a straight up trade for 3 months on Kijiji (Canadian Craigslist) and no one bit. A couple guys wanted to trade but always flaked out. A couple wanted to just buy them off me, which didn't work because I NEED headlights for my DD, lol.

I also couldn't ship them away because again, I needed them for everyday. I never considered asking people to ship theirs first, but at the same time, no one offered it on kijiji. I also wasn't 100% pleased with the work on the originally cleared headlights... The guy painted the horizontal chrome strip and it got a bit damaged when he put everything back together. Nothing drastic, but I don't want to be selling something with a flaw in it. If I note the flaw in the ad, 98% of people back away instantly anyway.

The thing is, even if I did trade someone for their stock ones, I'd end up blacking out the bezel inside anyway. So I'd be opening them up one way or another.

I have often contemplated doing it...I actually agree with you to a degree on the seeing the bulb or even the chrome visible area, Taco. That's why, on both my sets, I've purchased a set of used type s clear diffusers (USR-Depo also makes them but questionable quality). That paired with some plasma led bulbs make it nice and bright.

I thought about Amber back in, but with the theme I have going on the car with the teal...it kinda clashes. I still have the projector rings painted teal on my backup set...but eventually, I found that look to be slightly overdone.

Craigslist is not as popular as it once was.. too many people robbed or scammed so it's not a trusted source, and if you post a nice ad, some dickbag selling something similar for more just tags your ad as spam and CL removes it (they use bots because free service).

CL is only good for looking for a handjob during lunch. I wouldn't even advertise a salad toss on there. Some dbag would just tag it as spam.

You should try the blackmarket here next time. You're still likely to encounter flakes and still might get scammed, but Ron A and the army will kill whoever does it.

Kijiji doesn't have that spam thing, which is nice. However, there are lots of 'tards just wasting people's time on it, saying they're interested but really they're not. Next time, I'll try the market! I was still brand new on here to that time though- not sure anyone would trust that, but either way, I love me new headlights

Salad tossing on CL?! All I've ever heard through the grape vine that all CL is good for is catching a few crabs...

No, not him. He was a member on here but he rarely ever posted. I don't actually even remember his user name. I found him on here though just before I bought the car and went through all of his posts just to see the history of the TL before I bought it from him

If I saw things about accidents, over revved engines, grinding transmissions, etc, I'd know to stay away lol

Yeah the teal and amber might've been too much. The look you're going for definitely works on your car. I'm secretly an OEM whore on the inside though, so I like to keep stuff as stock as possible- for the most part anyway. I never thought about having a clear diffuser in there, but like you said with your blacked out ambers, there isn't enough differentiating happening with the black and black. I felt the same about chrome and grey. Just kind of monotone.

I initially removed the switch back LEDs and put the stock bulbs in, but painted them amber with stained-glass window paint. It looked better in my opinion, but the paint quickly started to bubble. I didnt think those bulbs got THAT hot just from flashing. After painting them, I held a blow dryer to them on max heat, one inch away and they never bubbled.

Well, her current solution for everything now is to scream at shit. Maybe a high enough pitch will get the rotors off.

They sell a chrome dipped amber bulb that might have worked for your situation, Taco.
Thanks though, very much. I'm happy with the look and won't change it for now. I'm way past the point of looking stock so I embrace it.
