The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (Part 2)
BTW, not that any of you gives a single fark...but, after years of patiently searching and waiting, I was able to find a minty and vintage Bandai Godaikin toy (from the 1980s) of a figure (Gardian) my Grandpa bought me as a kid for a fantastic price...sure, it's still close to $300 with shipping and everything...but, for the price of happy memories? I think it's fair.
Good day.
Good day.

Speaking of investing... I want to start trading on the stock market but I have no idea how to do it. Not the actual buying of shares, but knowing what to look for and making wise investments. I know nothing is fool proof, especially the stock market, but shit, I feel like I'd be walking into a battlefield with a blindfold on and a nerf gun, lol

BUT, if you want to get started, you can easily get yourself set up on a trading site like Charles Schwab or similar...
Generally, to earn a quick buck or too, penny stocks are kinda the thing to go. Currency trading isn't bad either...and a bit less, helter-skelter...but, again, that's almost subjective since currencies can go doink in a blink if something nuts happens...
Otherwise, if you just want to play it safe and NOT lose your mind, I'd go to a bank...invest in some mutual funds and call it a day. There are a few advisors at the banks (mostly useless though) who can give you some...advice.
Not sure if I helped at all.

I, on the other hand, actually did take Franchie's advice.. redistributed the 401k last night. I put a decent percentage into an int'l emerging market fund that has a majority percentage of the portfolio in regions that will hopefully stay strong. I feeling like I'm making fantasy football picks honestly.

I did it for a bit during my 20s with the $$$ I earned...but, being neurotic...it became obsessive and honestly, I don't want to become one of THOSE guys (and I think the regulars in here like Maj and Miz knows what I'm referring to) who spend their days obsessing at numbers on their computer while day-trading...

I'll look into the Charles schwab site. I don't want to become a crazy trader either, just looking to diversify a bit, you know?

If yes to the latter, I'd work on your debt instead of diversifying since you already are "investing"...that's in real estate. So, you're fine.

Well my mortgages are essentially paying themselves by the renters. I'm really only paying like $400 a month out of pocket (that's just my mortgage because the basement suite doesn't cover the entire mortgage- the other place pays for itself). While paying off the properties is definitely a good idea, it seems there are two trains of thought with this- pay off your house as fast as possible, or use the money that you'd use to pay off the house and invest it and if you make more money than the interest you're paying, you're golden.
I'd wait another 100k if I were you. If it ain't broke, don't fix it
