Haha you're the best, J.
In other news, my buddy and I had a car photo shoot around Chicago yesterday. He took the pics while I made a few suggestions but we're both total camera newbs. Anyway this was one of the photos.

I wont even argue with you over that topic since I bet you know better about that region...
I am just sad and mad and furious that 295 innocent people had to depart us...

Nikon!
Austin will say Canon, but that's because he lives at home and has no facial hair.
ebelp, tyler t, tyler m, sean...
all shoot nikon
pick up an older D90 or so...that should get the job done just fine, then lenses are what set you back.

Vlad, get whatever you feel more comfortable with. It comes down to personal preference, the control layout of each camera, ect. Both are amazing companies and will produce solid pics.
I stuck with Canon because my mother had a film camera which I used for 2 years in high school because we were lucky enough to have a darkroom, when it came time for a DSLR, the choice was obvious, I knew the camera well and I knew how to shoot with it.
My next camera will most likely be a 6D (Full Frame), but that is for years ahead.

also agreed to pick up a cam that you are comfortable with.
nikon and canon have different menu setups and configurations.
I started playing around with a buddy's nikon and got used to the menus and such.
i just went with something I was comfortable with.

Well, I looked and looked for a Minolta DSLR so that I could have the same as what I used in HS when my mother loaned me her camera and no dice.
I've always loved Canon for point and shoot...and loved my first DSLR...honestly, my skill improving played a bigger role in my better pictures of late...not the switch to Nikon. I love both brands, honestly, I was just trying to beat you to the punch of selling him on Canon.

I agree with both of you btw...
holy sh*t are they not intuitive...if you're used to Canon, Nikon feels foreign and vice versa.
I'm sure that's on purpose. I won't lie though, I DID feel like when I was learning to use the Nikon and got used to it, it felt more easy to maneuver over the Canon. But you'd have to play with both to know that.

Oh! And if you know any technical specs of cameras, I highly recommend this site:
http://snapsort.com/compare
You can put in any DSLR and compare them, Nikon - Canon, Canon - Sony, whatever you'd like. It will give some simple details like screen size, weight, ect. Let me know if you'd like more info on something.

www.fredmiranda.com forum...sign up for it, you'll find killer deals on lenses or bodies or both there.
John turned me onto that.

Yes sir, I originally went to b&h to buy my lightly used body and lenses...or adorama.com but the fredmiranda is like an online photography buy/sell black market. Crazy prices!

Oh shit thanks guys. I better save this info somewhere hahaha.
If I had to hop in a camp, I'd probably hop into the Canon camp right now because I'm so familiar with their point and shoots. But I think I'll search for a D60, mostly because its soo much less money than the D90 lol.

Me, I'm a Nikon guy. Started out on an N70, went to an F5, then finally went digital six years ago with a d300. I still have and use my d300, although I'm about to pick up a used D3s from the Fred Miranda Forums. I shoot sports, so I need the speed of a camera like that.
And, for comparisons sake, this site will give you all the information you'll ever want (and more) about any digital camera, ever. Down to the technical details.

canon 60D, 90D
nikon D90, D7000
There you go, you like the "D" before, or after?
I'll tell you with fair certainty, it's not the "MENU" that is so different, it's where the buttons are in relation to on the fly changes etc...I don't think that my point and shoot Canon really gave me any great advantage on being able to work the DSLR.
Best bet is Best buy, play with both and see which feels more at home in your hand.
And which layout is most intuitive for you...biggest thing you'll be playing with is ISO/F Stop changes constantly.

Pbook, good info, and thanks!
I was making a joke about being old with the Minolta, but I did not know that Sony bought them out.

Hey there Paco...watch it!
Mom has a ton of polaroids from my 1st grade etc...
MAN, with the selfie revolution can you imagine how much money we'd make off stocks in polaroid film?
but in HS, we actually used real darkrooms and film, fker!
pbook, lmao...
seriously though, great rolling shot!
here's more of my best work

I'm 30, and when I tell my students ( I teach photo/video classes at a University) I grew up on film, they don't believe me.
Give me some Tri-X or TMax 400 and some dektol, and I'll sit in a darkroom all day.

I'm happy I got darkroom experience in high school, great learning experience and makes me appreciate it more.
With digital, I come home from a 2 hour outing and I have 150 pictures.
