Too many people fuck their shoulders and other joints at the gym.
Improper technique + too heavy = injury eventually

Not saying that's your case though, simply mentioning how often it happens. See dudes benching w/ 100 lbs dumbells in each hand doing half reps a few times in a month then never see them again. Even saw some dude pop out his shoulder doing pec flies on a flat bench. :|

not even...sadly, I tweaked it as I was trying to re-start the edger with my right arm, something in my left shoulder said "fuck you" to me and hasn't felt right or strong since.

I narrowed it down to how I sleep...on my side, face down ass up...but put all the weight of my melon head on it...also, I rest on my side reading facebook gossip for a half hour before bed sometimes. Derp...

Shoulder(s) bent inward I imagine? Can be somewhat mitigated by upper back exercises to pull your shoulder back instead of towards the front. Happens to people who do too many pecs exercises without back exercises.
That said, it's best to also change your sleeping habit to either sleep on your front, back or other shoulder if it's always the same shoulder you sleep on.
Otherwise you're only doing only 50% of the work to correct it. Also be cautious with any physical activity not to grind your joint further which happens often with this type of imbalance.
