@ 2G thread. Not sure how far he'll get with Acura Corporate, if anywhere at all.
Insurance is mandatory in MA - your provider is printed on your registration so we don't need to carry separate proof of insurance.
Some states like NH don't require you to have auto insurance - but it's NH so that doesn't surprise me.

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy this car that was in 5 accidents.. but damn it looks good.. Transmission is a little iffy but the leather inside is PERFECT. 500K miles. It's a manual though so it's rare. They're asking $5K.. I can't do $5K as it surpasses my arbitrary limit of 4.5K..
Yeah front plates are a drag in CA... I ended up just getting one of those RHO plates license plate relocates for the tow hook.. I like it so far.

I didn't post this in the octane thread because there's no guiding stupid.. but what's so difficult to believe about 87 causing more carbon buildup.
Timing adjusted, inefficient burn, carbons build up.. not rocket science. If timing is adjusted, you're not likely getting an efficient burn and will get carbon deposits. Guys that run premium who have done head work have shown that even using top tier fuel, carbon still builds up. It's normal to have in the chamber, the issue is if it's building up on the valves or blocking the EGR port.
Is it that far of a stretch to think that using 87, which pulls even more timing, having an even less efficient burn, can cause more carbon buildup? It's not an issue with the J as much as it is with other engines. But there have been many threads regarding misfires, and several of them were due to carbon buildup. Using top tier fuels with primo additives helps, as well as injector and intake solvents. I'd be willing to bet that two TLs under the same conditions, one running 87 and the other running 93.. the one running 87 will have a far more clogged EGR than the one running 93. Plus it's a domino effect.
When you have dipshits arguing that a few bucks matters to their livelihood.. just be glad you live in a better neighborhood. If they were willing to live in a better neighborhood, they would have educated themselves, which they seem incapable of doing.

holy shit... went back to that regular versus premium thread to since 2 new pages were added.. and damn.. talk about salad tossing.. it seems there's a pretty interesting divide between ones who think using 87 is okay versus... everyone else that just doesn't bother and just reads the fucking manual and follows what it says..

I order my lamb madrasi and while talking with girlfriend I keep picking at the lamb in the sauce in my plate without really looking. Then I taste something that tastes like... dirt... or like old ass coffee but oily. I swallow cause well, it's too late anyway right.
I look in my plate and realized they left the peppers they used for the sauce. I imagine I got the end of the batch and whatever comes with it. Looks like 3 Tabiche chili peppers they use to spice up the whole batch... and I just ate one. Madrasi lamb isn't supposed to be this spicy.
For the next 20 minutes I went from acting like nothing was up to drinking my whole pepsi, drinking my water, my girlfriend water, eating all the nan bread and the white rice I could get and asking for more water. I pretty much had my eyes watering at the table while my GF made fun of me.
Regrets. Food was good though.

next time, ask for some mango lassi (mango yogurt drink) or raita (yogurt with onions and cucumbers)
The milk will neutralize the capsaicin in the peppers. Trust me. I'm a doctor. (I'm also lactose intolerant)

Didn't hurt as much going out as going in. Do not take this out of context.
Yup, but normally it's not needed when you have fucking lamb madrasi. Usually take raita with my nan, but for some reason didn't this time. I had to go blow my nose at some point and my GF is still sure I went to the washroom to cry a bit.

Yeah.. it's freaking automotive science.. you know the shit Acura engineers studied before building the god damn engine.. Also they won't listen to an ASE certified tech (04WDPSeDaN) and then mock him? WTF?!

my 99 accord v6 ran on 87 gas (because that's what the fucking manufacturer recommended).. I had the dreaded egr valve plugged and there was a whole tsb that involved cleaning and porting the egr port with a drill bill and a metal sleeve to ensure it won't clog as easily..

My old accord was the 6th gen v6 J-series actually.. (J30A1) so it was the the beginning of all the crappy J series transmissions.. (I still have the car now and it hasn't shat the bed yet at 265K...)
Nah I got an 08 Type S... those transmissions are a little more reliable

All you mofos talking about 87 and carbon build up... I was thinking...
It's possible he doesn't have much carbon build, running on 87... If he's constantly revving the shit out of his car. That carbon does break off at high rpm (and jam valves open, lol). His pistons wouldn't be clean, but there wouldn't be a lot of carbon either.
That being said, if he's red lining his car with WOT pulls, on 87, he's an idiot. Also, he's likely bullshitting about how clean his engine is. What's clean to him may look like Shit to us.
But then again, he probably saved $34.50 so far this year, buying reg over prem. Who's truly the idiot now?
