I'm using this bitch, plus their trimmer and blower
So I have 1x 5.0Ah, 1x 4.0Ah and 1x 3.0Ah batteries
You can mow a half acre with one charge of the 5.0Ah
I would have gone with DeWalt but their yard tools are spotty and pricey
I think I paid $400 all together for the mower, trimmer, and blower - got them on sale different times.
With the 3 batteries, that's not bad.. batteries have been stout and I see sales once in a while on batteries.
I saw 2x 5.0Ah batteries for $120 recently, which is damn good.
Plus on the trimmer, you detach the arm and add other attachments.

Takes me 2 hours, 3 hours max, and I get a half charge in like 30 mins.

Well if it lasts you a whole cut, the 6 hours ain't nothing!
The Milwaukee blower does about a half of the battery on a 4.0 to dry the car or blow after cutting.
The Dewalt felt like good shit on my test but I might return it if the ryobi seems more formidable.
I guess that seals it...if our shitty lawnmower eats it, I'll swap over to the mower being ryobi too.
Oddly, I already have expand it ryobi trimmer and edger head...because I didn't like the craftsman one that came on that 4 cycle 3 years ago.

My first electric trimmer was an OG Ryobi ~10 years ago
That was a piece of shit (with the litium pack that has a neck)
Battery crapped out in less than 10 uses
Underpowered.. and replacement battery was 96% cost of the tool w/ battery.
I used their Ni-Cd batteries instead, total piece of shit.
Their new brushless line is tits though. I almost didn't pick them but my homie had their mower.
I borrowed it and was laughing the whole time I cut my yard.
Fucking quiet, yet axe murderer.

yeah never let a lithion battery got hot. They can explode. That’s why those makitas get locked out (and I’m sure other brands too). It’s a safety thing so if anything happens to the battery pack, it can’t explode on you.
Chapter Leader (Southern Region)
Like I said there are other good lines.
I can't remember, but there is a Lowes or HD brand 56V line that has great ratings too.
Check it out holmes..

what's the point of the brushless 3.0 one vs the design of the 2.6 one? both 40v...
one is $50 more with no perceivable benefit, I guess...
the other option was buying the power head alone for $150 but right now the entire string trimmer is on sale for $150 anyway so it would be foolish to not just get the entire thing.

Oh yeah, Kobalt and EGO
Both well reviewed, I don't know much about their lines though
Conveniences and such, but good prices on both (wait for sales)

56V is Echo brand, IIRC...but not worth the extra scratch, to me...
especially if Ryobi is the business. My old neighbor had the Ryobi and I used to laugh to myself...
then now that I have a tiny yard I realize I'm tired of fuxing with gas.

that first 2.6ah one I just found on Home Depots site shipped for free to me by Tuesday for $109...Factory reconditioned but I see it's the previous model ending in 220 vs 225 for the $149 one...
I'm sure it doesn't matter...
I might spring for that. A hundred bucks and I'm back in business and not reliant on gas...and I that'll leave some extra cash for another battery down the line.

Brushless motors are supposed to last longer IIRC. It’s more for heavier duty use. The brushes can generally be replaced on a motor though, I thought. But honestly... I’d go the cheaper route.

I can't see your posts, Maj...
I thought so on the brushless because they always brag about that feature but wasn't sure how much it matters.

The recondition one is probably good.. just be aware that you have a 1 year warranty and maybe even a reduced warranty on battery
On the new one that's $40 more.. you have a 5 year warranty on the tool and a 3 year warranty on the battery

Sup, slores.
Tired AF today. I hope a workout knocks out the cobwebs. It's possible I'm coming down with a cold as Little Cha has had a virus he's been dealing with courtesy of skoo.

actually, now that I think about it...that makes a lot of sense...if I spend $80 on a small 2 cycle ryobi and it lasts me 3 years...vs $150 on the 40V lithion...and then $100 every year or so...
and then if I buy ethanol free fuel from the start...I might go LONGER than 3 years.
Hmmm...gave me something to consider.
I was kinda curious to see how it felt to do it with battery.
I got tired of hauling my dumb 16" 30 year old dull hedge trimmer around on extension cords to do our hedge work....finally decided to say fuck it hand handle business.
I know @thoiboi would be proud. Opted for DeWalt since I had the battery from the impact I could share with it.
At this point I have Dewalt, Milliwalkayyyy, and Makita chargers going at all times I don't want to be married to any brand for any particular tool.

Fun fact: the basic underlying theme behind almost all of Cannibal Corpse's songs is Love, Acceptance, and Gluten Tolerance.
