Delco is usually a pretty solid bet on these things, but I truly don't know

that song is funny but fuck the beat and delivery is atrocious.
Okay, thanks man...I've read up that the Advantage line is cheap shit and Pro is good...then I've read that there's
not much difference.
Meh...if I didn't own a fleet of beaters it'd be easier to decide on the expensive shit every time.

Hmmm... but a block replacement would likely be much easier than tearing an engine down and rebuilding, no? I don't think I even have the proper tools for something that intricate.

I'd love a V, but it would be a weekend car, only... I couldn't afford the price of fuel for that thing, otherwise. Then again, my new job is only 7 minutes from home...

Not necessarily, it just depends if you have to hone the cylinders.
Even if you had to do that, probably still less.

shiet, 7 minutes from home...that was my commute when I got the V. Wouldn't matter at that distance.

truth be told, I'd prefer to keep the original block in there and everything. I figure it would help maintain the value of the car a bit better.

Don't worry Maj, I'm not looking to buy this thing... It'd be a cool project, though. I just like looking at cars and busting nuts about stuff I can't have right at this moment

Plus, asking price is 25k. Talk him down to 22.5k... spend 4k to fix engine... hmmm... not a bad idea. So long as the engine issue isn't documented somewhere with the VIN.

I know parts in Canada are $$$
I can source a crate LSA down here for about 10-12k
A pulled LSA out of a car is still going to be about 7-8k
So it's not cheap

That car has about 3k in engine mods.
It was probably putting down around 600 wheel.
I'm a little concerned that he said the engine is blown when only one cylinder is down on compression

That could be a valve, it could be the rings, could be really simple, but to classify it as man down is strange.
I will say that the LSx is easy to tear down and there are hundreds of videos of them being torn down.
It would be a badass project during the winter, make some friends maybe and work on it.

didn't Jason have some major failure that caused him to cough up the scratch to have it rebuilt with power in mind?

I found a 2010 CTS-V Sedan in that grey color... apparently fully loaded with 6MT auto tranny, but low compression in one cylinder. ~27k miles. Asking $25k CDN. Nm... I thought it was a 6MT V, but it's not...

anyway, here's the link:
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...ationFlag=true

He claims the car has 20k in extras. I'm starting to see why the engine failed.

Claims it has the WeaponX 650hp package on it.

That's what I figured. It'll be a sweet project for the right person. Very good price for Canada.
Just an okay price down here.

It doesn't have 20k in extras unless markup is that much in Canada.
Those mods in total should be less than 10k.

That's nothing Taco, the LSA is a beast. It eats mods like nothing.
Even on a plug and play tune. Shit is robust.
Just add a catch can and you're golden.

I wouldn't be concerned about a modded LSA.
Now if the guy went to the drags every weekend, that's more of a concern.
The fact that he has 305s on the rear.. sheitt. Not bad, but he meant business.

You're not helping me not buy this

I don't see 20k in extras either... unless he paid a premium to have the hood painted, etc. The mods seem kind of modest to me, too... it's not like he put a whole new blower on, or something rather. I wonder how much time he spent tuning it also.. that likely added to the costs, but again, I can't see anything approaching 20k, with that list.

Gah. I've quite honestly always wanted to tear into an engine, ever since my '92 Si hatchback days. If this thing doesn't sell in a couple months, I'll maybe revisit hahaha.

At the price point, I don't even mind it being an auto instead of 6mt. Just a comfy AF luxo barge that can also annihilate tires through the first 4 gears, regardless of speed

maybe he was using the AZ 3GR conversion for CAD... 20K CAD is like $69 USD so he probably just used a K&N oil filter or something..

He could have just had it restored to proper health for very little coin, but the machine shop he took it to did top down restore and outfitted his engine with primo mods. I think he spent close to 10k on the engine. He could have had it buttoned up for just 3-4k.

Shit is an absolute hammer now.

Hey, remember when there wasn't a certain someone with a CTS-V who didn't race his certain someone friend with an STS-V and didn't subsequently cause a wreck because it wasn't wet out and they weren't both street racing and weren't both tools?

Yeah, me neither.

Given the topic yesterday and prior about Taco's relationship with his Ex, I think that Caddy's fate is a good metaphor about his marriage.

Just finished my exit interview with my company and talked about the trainwreck of a project I was on and why I was leaving.

Also got a call earlier this morning from my Sector lead with a counter.. but I told him I didn't even want to hear it because I didn't plan on staying
