It's actually hard to spot any major differences. The front has some new holes under the grill. If you look at the larger holes on the left and right of the front, you will see a thin horizontal painted seperator that is added that is not on the 2006. The side mirrors look closer to the car as well. I'm not seeing really much of a difference other than that. Maybe there's more, but it's not easily visible.
They sure look like TLs to me. I suspect that the mirrors look closer to the car because they fold them in prior to shipping (if the TL mirrors fold). I know the most of the Hondas do that.

INFO: AS OF 2 DAYS AGO, '06 TL's JUST WENT UP IN PRICE!!! I went to the dealer, and the best offer they could give me on a NAVI was $510/month, not including 7% Florida Tax, for 12K miles/yr, and 36 months, with initial payment of $1250. This seems rediculous, as they could have given me $30/month better 2 days ago. Don't they want to get rid of '06s?

The reason for this is that the programs just changed and the interest went up, among other things.

Whoops, I was looking at the wrong cars . The ones in question do appear to be RLs. TLs are in the first row visible, the next couple of cars you can see look like RLs.

Does the current one not have keyless entry? Do you mean keyless start maybe?

And, did you just pull that out of the ether, or have some basis for that?

he might me something like the new Lexus IS, where you just walk up to the car and it detects the key fob and unlocks your door.

The 2007 Acura TL better have SmartAccess. Every other competing car has the system ( 2007 Nissan Maxima, 2006 Lexus IS 250 / 350, 2007 Lexus ES 350, 2007 Infiniti G35, etc. ).

Without SH-AWD the 2007 Acura TL Type-S will be pointless. The 2007 Infiniti G35 and 2007 Lexus IS 350 will rape it left and right. If Acura was smart they would introduce a Type-S model with SH-AWD in the fall of 2008 when the re-designed 2009 Acura TL is released. Bringing a Type-S model out now is just stupid IMO. Acura has confused positioning all over the place.

Cool Blue Metallic and Moroccan Red Pearl (replacing Redondo Red Pearl) will probably be two new colors for the '07.

This may be hard for you to believe, but Acura doesn't design and build its cars just to outrun the other guy's cars. In fact, while performance is nice icing on the cake, it probably doesn't rank even 2nd or 3rd on their list of priorities.

The reason is that (now, don't faint here) most people don't give a rat's ass if car A will outrun car B. Okay, okay, I know that's hard to take, so sit down a minute and breathe slowly in and out. In fact, most people don't even race each other.

So as long as a car runs good and looks good and is reliable, people will buy that sucker, whether it will outrun their friends' cars or not.

I'm not saying this as a slapdown or anything ... just to point out that it's not the end of the world (or of Acura) if the '07 TL won't beat the '07 G35 or IS350. All Acura cares about in the final analysis is whether the car will sell. So don't get too worried. Everything will be okay.

Good reality check. But, there are always a few like us who care about performance. I took a drive in a 330i sport today, and that thing cornered insanely well compared to a TL. But, TL is still good value for money.

I am betting that Chinese TL is basically what the "base" model TL will look like. Half cleared headlights, Altezzas, side mirror blinkers. The Type-S or whatever moniker they use for the higher trim will have a more aggressive look with 18" sportier wheels and tighter suspension. That is IF they release a higher trim with the 3.5L engine! END.

Don't get me wrong. I definitely care about performance.

I guess I was just reacting to all the hand-wringing about whether the TL is (or will be) faster than some other car, or how it HAS to have SH-AWD if it's going to beat such-and-such a car or handle "x" horsepower.

I love performance, too, but I'm past the days when I had to show someone else mine was faster than his.

The whole point behind my post was that Acura hasn't positioned the TL well. Acura doesn't know if they want the TL to be positioned towards value-oriented consumers or performance-oriented consumers ( i.e. the addition of a Type-S model ). In order for any product to succeed, the positioning for the product should be as clear as possible. All I was saying was that if Acura wants to position the TL towards performance-oriented consumers, they should wait until they can have a superior product ( w/ SH-AWD, 300+ HP, etc. ) over the competition in the segment ( i.e. 4TL ). If Acura releases the Type-S model alongside the base TL model, then there is confusing positioning taking place. A product has to be positioned clearly and distinctly if it wants to succeed. Find a niche ( which the current TL addresses; i.e. value, luxury car ) and fulfill the need. Don't get your panties in a twist.

Everyone seem to have little or no hope for the TL since the new Lexus IS and G35 is out. We just have to wait until the 4th gen comes out, they Acura will be back into the game. SH-AWD is going to be a for sure feature. And i have a feeling Acura is going turbo for the next TL. Maybe a 3.0L V6 turbo?

Just curious if you guys saw this posting. I am in no way saying I do or don't believe the '07 TL will have SH-awd. Also, of course, since the guy never returned to the thread, who really knows if it's for real or not.

I have hope for the TL . . . . . . I could have bought an IS350, BMW 330 or G35 but I felt the TL was the better value with the right blend of sport and luxury for my tastes.

I'm sure the nextgen TL will be a one-up for Acura, then Lexus or Infiniti will have their turn again . . . . . . it's all a vicious cycle . . . . .

The TL still beats the IS350 and G35 for value. However, I do think Acura is making a mistake introducing the Type S now, as it will bump the price into the G35 range and quite frankly, it can't compete with the G35 at the same price point. They should wait til 09 and then bring it out with SH-AWD, 300+ HP, etc...Should be interesting to watch and see.....

Who said Acura is bringing out a Type-S now?

And if you think they are, don't count on it.

I guess I should have said IF they introduce the Type S....Even if they do, I won't be getting one, I'm going to stick with "regular" 07 TL, I did the whole body kits and performance suspension and high perf engine building when I was younger. Now I'm more inclined toward luxury and the TL allows me to have my luxury and still keep some of my hot rod soul....

I can agree about the G35... But the Lexus IS... Yes, it looks good: it's powerful, but from almost 18 years Lexus hasen't yet sold only one really sporty car with good cornering...

ACURA HASEN'T POSITIONED THE TL WELL??? I could understand if you were speaking about the RL... Find me only one car as the TL for such a price. And we know BMW 330i is the best car in this class... But look at the price, and at the design... ugly. The TL get many buyers also by a natural, instinctive emotional-aesthetic point of view...

So there it is, a 2007 Acura TL in the front row bound for China...

Given that info, it's safe to say we've seen a glimpse of the 2007 TL right? I don't see why they'd do one style for China and give us anything different. Can we be pretty certain this is the look of the '07 TL then?

Of course the other changes to look foward to will be in the interior and electronics and we can't see those.

The TL on the right seems to have something over the Acura emblem in the front grill.. Paper wrapping? Or is it just white? The handles are black, but the TL on the left has white door handles. Unless one car has some sort of plastic wrapping on it.... But I think it's a difference in the color scheme. Also the TL on the right has dark paint near where the windows meet the top. The turn signal is broken into amber and clear plastic on the 07's. The 06's have more amber in them. Anyone notice anything else?

So there it is, a 2007 Acura TL in the front row bound for China...

Given that info, it's safe to say we've seen a glimpse of the 2007 TL right? I don't see why they'd do one style for China and give us anything different. Can we be pretty certain this is the look of the '07 TL then?

Of course the other changes to look foward to will be in the interior and electronics and we can't see those.

Ummmm, no ! The BMW 335i sedan will be best in class
