Okay, so the frontend looks essentially the same to me, and the wheels are unchanged. MAYBE the partially cleared tails will be there, but we don't know that for sure. Ditto for the turns in the rearview mirrors (which, face it, are for other people to look at, since you can't see them from inside anyway).
I've cut a lease deal with the GM of my local dealer on an '06, and I'm going in Saturday to meet up and discuss it. I just don't see the point in waiting for an '07 and paying more to get basically the same car.

Like I mentioned before: Type-S version 295HP, No AWD, Clear Alteza tail lights, minor exterior changes, minor interior changes. At this point, these features will have no benefit to me... I'm almost ready to go out and find an '06 below invoice...

Kudos to you acuraz88, finding a single syllable on the 07 TL is more or less impossible...

Information straight from the new September 2006 issue of Motor Trend
What's new: Front and rear fascia enhancements and interior tweaks are due across all versions of Acura's midsize sedan, but the big news here is the yet to be officially confirmed arrival of a hot new Type_S that should bring nearly 300 horsepower, a performance-spec suspension, bigger wheels/tires, and a serious bump in its fun-to-drive index.
Cool fact: Groundbreaking DVD-A audio technology offers 500 times higher sound resolution levels than a conventional CD system
Sum up Aims at 3 series but just misses

Saw a 07 TL Type-S
To make a long story short, me and my cuz (2004 TL) were racing up in Angeles Crest. We parked in a turnout just chilling. I noticed a film crew a few miles before too. Then i see a charcoal colored fixed up TL from far coming our way, followed by a new RL. They come park next to us and im checkin out the TL and it has a big red square with Type-S written in it. Gunmetal rims split spoke, Brembo brakes, lip spoiler, Quad Exhuast, rear lights were differnt + some body changes. I talked to the guy and he didnt know much about it but he said it had more power than my Cuz's TL.
They were shooting the commercial for it BTW.

I can't believe i read half of this...im starting to get worked up. Pretty interesting and funny people we have here on AZine I wanna test drive when what ever it is comes out with near 300 ponies..and the quad exhaust, I guess that mod will blend right in with the custom exhaust being made now.

More HP, quad exhaust and bigger wheels sounds cool but for 5K+ more? I'm leaning toward trying to get a killer deal on an '06, yanking out the stereo, buying my own 20" wheels, etc. I really want to know more about what's coming for '07 before making any decisions though.
By the way, about 6-8 weeks ago, the local dealer near me (SoCal) had several new '05's on the lot and was saying they would take $300 less than the '06's (the difference in the sticker). I thought the dude was on crack and couldn't believe they hadn't unloaded those things a long time ago. I haven't been back since so I don't know if they are still there. Makes me think they won't be giving the '06's away.

I'm a fan of FWD and I get tired of nearly every TL review slagging it off simply because it is a front driver. BUT, 300hp all going to the front wheels? Unless Acura has some magic up their sleeve- that kind of power up front just isn't going to work as well as it could.

Maybe the TypeS will have 300hp but with lower or similar torque figures as the TL now so there wont be an increase in torque steer. But the TL is already lacking low end torque so.... what is Acura going to do!?!?!

Steering
The TL uses torque-sensing, variable power-assisted rack and pinion steering. The engine-driven variable-output pump provides the kind of steering feel that driving enthusiasts like: modest steering effort at low speeds and precise feel at higher speeds. The steering feel is very linear and evenly weighted.
Torque steer (the tendency for some front wheel drive cars to pull to the left or right during hard acceleration, especially in a turn) can be accentuated in high-performance front wheel drive cars when they are equipped with a limited slip differential. For 2006, Acura has taken steps to reduce torque steer in TLs equipped with a manual transmission. When the TL is in first or second gear, input from gear position, speed and steering angle sensors is used by the ECU to reduce power during acceleration, thus reducing torque steer. In first gear, torque can be reduced between 13 and 27 percent at full throttle, while in second gear, torque is reduced between zero and 10 percent. Torque output is reduced proportionately based on steering input--the larger the steering angle, the greater the reduction in torque. For those desiring maximum possible acceleration switching off the VSA also eliminates this torque reduction. This steering enhancement allows the TL to maintain the sporty, fun-to-drive character while providing more precise steering control.

I have a Prelude Type SH and was wondering couldn't Honda use the ATTS from this car on the TL to take care of some of the torque steer? I guess that way they could avoid having to make it sh-awd and competing too closely with the RL....

Looking at the new 2007 specs that AK posted from Motor Trend, the 0-60 with manual is 5.8 seconds which is *only* .3 seconds faster to 60 than the 2004-2006 TL's. So I see them both as being nice and fast, but not very different. A 2004-2006 TL with manual will do 0-60 in about 6.1 seconds. An automatic will do it in about 6.9 to 7.
The 2007 0-60 automatic gets 7.2 which is actually slower than the 6.9 to 7 the 2004-2006 can achieve. That's the best the 06 can achieve but I've seen more than one example where the 04-06 TL's get about 7 to 7.1 with automatic. So no matter what, the 2007 automatic is quoted as being slower to 60 than the year before. At best it's the same.
I'm not trying to be negative, but couldn't help noticing. Horse power isn't that important to me, but I wonder why the car isn't really that much faster. And maybe even slower. (The torque to wheel limits? and the torque algorithm?)
Is it possible that's the acceleration for the base model? If not, the Type S is not that much faster for the HP. Then again the difference in HP on the Type S from the base model is only about 10 HP more than a large riding mower. 4K seems like a lot to spend for such a small difference.. And maybe even a step backwards on automatics. Note, this can be seen in the photo above if you scroll it to the right.
The other thing I noticed in the photo is that the mirrors don't have any turn signal lights. I wonder if that picture is not the 2007.

Seems to me that Motortrend is just putting down what they know thus far, which might not be alot. They still list the 258 on the base TL. It may very well be the case, but I think this # will be higher for 07. The 0-60 times are for the current 6mt and the auto, and its only estimated from what THEY have previously tested.(04-06) Noone has officially tested an 07 tl nor type s for that matter. 90% sure that is not a picture of the 07.

That makes sense. I just thought if MotorTend printed it that they had news about the 07. I guess they too are trying to appear in the know, LOL. thanks.

Tlfun could you tell (or someone else in the forum) me : with my TL 2005 270 hp automatic, how fast is the 0-60mph with the SPORT SHIFT?

The fastest TL 0-60 time with a stick I saw was 5.7 Q-Mile 14.0
Well anyways y'all were correct about the Type-R and it's based on the European Civic. However it said we could see it sometime in the future. I sometimes don't understand why Honda hesitates on performance ?

The reason is that Honda's meaning is getting fast cars with small-medium engines for ecological and consuming reasons: a V8 or V10 it's much more dirthy
and hungry of a V6.
BUT now Honda get new problems: the incomprehensible and creazy growth of the new engine's generation of the concurrencewith 300-400hp or more , risks to leave the Honda engines too far behind...
For that reason, one year ago, the Honda president told about the start of the project for the FIRST V8 engine in the history of his company...
We have not to forget that the next generation of the RL, Honda LEGEND in Europe, will get a V8 in 2010, and the NSX in 2008 a V10 with something around 500 hp...

The TL wont be sold in China until the 2007 model year.. and the TL will be refreshed in its mid-model change also in MY 2007.

What's consensus here? Is the TL going to refreshed at the beginning of the '07 model year or mid-year '07? If it's going to be mid-year, I might hold out to see what the '08 Accord V-6 looks like. I love my '99 Accord EX-VL. I'd buy another one but I really wanted to step up to the TL. I DON'T like the Chinese version of the TL or whatever that thing is.

The '08 Accord V6 will get the 3.2L. It might be better to wait and get the '08 Accord if that's what you want. Or just lease for 2 years a '07 TL or '06 Accord V6(Good leasing deals now and a upgrade from a '99 LX) and buy the new '09 TL 3.5L AWD.
