An awful lot of youngins buying expensive cars these days. When I was in my mid 30s I bought my first house, was raising kids and saving for their college educations.
don’t be fooled
the facebook guys had a post on what their rdx payments were and PROUD they were paying 800-950 a month after rolling negative equity from older cars.
i retired at 34 and rdx is my 14th car (42 now) and i would NEVER walk in a dealer upside down or without a huge chunk of cash down
gives me chest pains knowing these clownshoes will be making decisions for my daughter when im dead haha

Amazing! I sure have made some financial mistakes in my life (and learned from them), but I NEVER wanted a new(er) car bad enough to roll negative equity, or had the need to boast about a ridiculously high car payment.
With this said, I doubt the members here fit this profile.
I want to get rid of my 19 since it’s a pos. Looks great would never know it. But is a tsb monster. Have had all done and problems continue. I’d trade out but in the northeast no one wants these. I’ve been to a few different dealers of different manufacturers and all offer 5-7k under book value. Each dealer, Subaru, jeep, Toyota, Honda etc all told me they don’t sell well and sit on the lots. Toyota by me has had a newer mdx for months. And the Honda dealer has a clean 21rdx and both Acura’s at these dealers are the longest cars they’ve had remain on the lots since this pandemic crap started. I want out, but I’ll never buy another Honda product again. Terrible build quality and shit bag dealers and corporate is useless. Basically on your own after purchase. Glad you got out. I hate this f’ing RDX.

Have you tried Carvana, Vroom, or Carmax? As long as you don't have anything reported on a CarFax, you should be offered more than what the dealers are offering you.

Sorry to hear your troubles. From my experience, Hondas/Acuras do tend to be less likely to have problems. However, if you do have problems, you're SOL because it's like pulling teeth trying to get them to admit fault or recognize there's a problem. I think they got so used to have bulletproof cars that they just automatically assume you're the problem, not the car. You either end up with people who love their car and the brand because they have no problem and never have to experience the after-sales experience, or (like you) hate it because they can't get it fixed or the situation handled appropriately.
You can try seeing if a dealership on the west coast is willing to deal. Even factoring the cost of shipping it to them, you'll still probably come out way ahead)

Wow, these were my exact thoughts about the 2019 Acura RDX. I was so angry with it that I wanted to get rid of it. I was lucky that a dealership in PA offered it $1k more than what CarMax was offering. It was also $4k more than what Carvana offered. The blue book value was 40k, but given I paid 42k when I bought the car (it was used as a loaner and sold by dealer.) I was willing to take a slight loss. The value was much better than I thought I was going to get, and was prepared to have the dealer lowball me at 33kish, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Btw, I have not found a single issue with the Mach E GT so far. I was expecting software glitches, etc but I didn't experience any. When I got my RDX and had it for a week, there were already plenty of issues and annoyances with the car. One time, I had the whole center screen gauge turn off on me because of poor infotainment software issues.

You bought a loaner? Yikes. No wonder you had issues. I can’t say I go easy on loaner cars.
Book is 40k on mine and most I’ve seen on a trade was 35k and that was with the dealer markup of 2k on the sticker of their car. Most offer 33-35k. Even the local carmax, carvana, whomever else will only go 33500-35k. Can’t get shit for these here. A Subaru wrx has the same trade value as an RDX here

Last April, after my '19 RDX was rear-ended, and I decided to replace it...I shopped around at many premium/luxury brand dealers. The Infinity dealer (I did not like the QX50) had a used '19 RDX on his used car lot. He said it had been there a long time. Buyers were interested, then backed away when they tried the Tru-touchpad. That, apparently, was a bigger issues that potential reliability issues.
Now, I am potentially a week away from buying another new RDX. In spite of two (not at fault) recent car accidents, I don't tend to keep my cars a long time, so 3-4 years would be the max I would likely expect to own the 22 Advance, IF I buy it.
I did have many TSBs performed on my '19 Advance, and some issue even had more updated TSBs. It did get to be a bit much. Part of the reason I decided to replace the repaired car, rather than keep driving it.
So, I did get used to the touchpad rather quickly, and do I prefer a touch screen, however, with the shoulder break I sustained with the recent crash, I have trouble reaching a touch screen, so it seems that the updated '22 RDX is one of few choices. And I DID really like driving the 19 RDX.
You bought a loaner? Yikes. No wonder you had issues. I can’t say I go easy on loaner cars.
My issues weren't actually powertrain related. The engine and transmission were solid. The issues were all TSB's such as infotainment issues, suspension creak over bumps, squeaky brakes, popping roof, etc. That's not because of the loaner. It was because my car was the 400th third gen RDX ever produced. (My vin was ended in low 400s and the rest were 0's)
The biggest annoyance was the infotainment issue, as it would be difficult to fix as the issues were intermittent, but they did get so annoying at times. For example, the screen would turn black when the car is turned on, or the screen never shutting off. The way to fix it temporarily was to let the car sit turned off for 20 minutes and then turn it back on which resolved the issue, but then it would come back weeks later.
There was a lawsuit regarding this, and all Acura did was to make the warranty longer for the infotainment system.

Well, who knows. The Land Rover we had ( a brand that has its own slew of reliability issues) was a 'loaner' when we bought it, and we had virtually zero issues with it over about 15 years of ownership. But loaner, used, etc...as my father used to tell me..."buy a used car, buy someone else's problems". And sometimes when you buy a new car, you are dealt a whole of problems.

Son....It's not nice to brag. The number of cars you've purchased does not equate to wealth or wise financial decisions. I'm 71 and my RDX is my 43'rd car.
We've both made poor purchasing decisions. Everbody spends their money differently. Raise your daughter properly and you won't have to worry about (as you say) "clownshoes" making decisions for her.
Now that I've had my Mach E GT for almost a week now, putting almost 300 miles on it, I am happy to report no issues whatsoever. It is way better than the RDX, with instant torque and 480hp, and it is always a thrill to drive. I get instant looks from everyone whenever the car is driven around. The front Mustang badge lights up and the Mustang Logo is projected to the ground at night. It makes no noise whatsoever, and no rattles or any issues that I can tell. Ford already pushed an update to the car on 3/7 to update the BlueCruise so it works on more roads, which is good. I get updates on my phone whenever the car is turned on, tampered with, or people being near it.
It really does feel futuristic compared to the ICE vehicles.
My only gripes were that the car does not have HUD, nor the sound system is as good as the RDX. However, in all other aspects of the vehicle, it outclasses the RDX in almost every margin. It even can parallel park or fit in between spaces on its own without any input. It displays how far the vehicle in front of you is away from you, similar to the MDX's new traffic assist system. The alerts for pre collision assist are much better implemented than the RDX. The NVH is nonexistent, and feels super smooth on acceleration without any vibration from the motors.
I've already saved $50 bucks in gas this week alone by driving the Mach E over the RDX. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, and should've traded in the RDX months ago!

Why are you being such a Ford electric mustang fanboy on this Acura RDX forum? Are you, your family or friends affiliated with Ford? I'm glad you're happy with your electric car but, comparing your electric car to an RDX sounds like a Ford advertisement.

Lol did you see the part where I owned two Acuras last week? Clearly you didn’t see the part where I’ve been on this forum since I’ve owned my first third gen Acura RDX back in 2018.
Plus, they’re comparable vehicles, both are considered SUVs, with similar cargo and passenger capacities. There’s nothing wrong with comparing the two. They’re both around the same price too.
Plus, I did say that I would post about my thoughts on this car didn’t I? No need to be so inflamed by it.
I still own a MDX so I’m still going to be active on AcuraZine.
You can also read my older posts where I defended the RDX against the Hyundai Palisade with another forum member who blasted the RDX for being a terrible vehicle to own and praised his Palisade which I thought was a completely different class of car altogether.

Not inflamed at all. You were sounding like a Ford electric car commercial. I too will be doing the EV thing when charging stations are as available as a common gas station. When the EV can fully charge as fast as you can pump a full tank of gas and (once more), when charging stations are as common as gas stations. I don't want to have to plan a road trip around the locations of EV charging stations. I'm sure one day EV's will be ready for prime time but.....they're not ready today.

He just likes his new vehicle. My acura is awesome, but he bought a new model rdx before they worked the flaws out. I can understand his dislike for it.

exactly. This tech is still very immature. That said, for people who live near or in a city, I think it's a no brainer. I live 20 minutes from the closest gas station, and my local post office is open 3 hours a day only. Super rural. Makes no sense to have a PEV right now for me. I did like my rav4 prime for power and econony, but otherwise it was a flop.

You’re correct I did. But I also bought a new model MDX as well as a new model Mach E GT in its first year of production. No problems at all. Either I got a bad vehicle or Acura just didn’t do enough testing.
Either way, judging by the number of TSBs the 2019 RDX had, it’s pretty poor on Acura’s part to do that. The advantage is that the MDX pretty much had a solid infotainment system by then because of RDX being a beta tester for that same system.

Experienced, seasoned buyers of vehicles know it is not a wise decision to buy first year production of a vehicle. I feel bad for your poor experience on the (heavily) reinvented RDX.
Years ago (1982) I got nailed buying a first year production vehicle,. The first year of the Nissan Maxima. The car was in the dealers service center for 45 of the first 60 days I owned it.
That was my last first year production vehicle. How long have you owned your first year reinvented MDX and your entirely new first year electric mustang?

A fully loaded 2019 RDX Advance started at $47.5k. 2022 Mach E GT starts at $61,995, how are they around the same price?

Federal tax credits, state incentives, local utility incentives. If I were to pick one up in California that's $7500+$4000+$750 and would bring down that starting price to right around $50K.

They fixed it on every Mach E produced after July 2021. So yes, was fixed. At least Ford did it quickly and not wait like other brands (Acura) which makes it more embarassing for Acura. RDX had a recall for fuel pump as well in 2019.
Mine was produced 12/21 so all is good!

Not only to add what fiat said, you can also get the fully loaded premium model with extended range which gives you 346hp and 428 pound feet of torque fully loaded for less than $60k not including any incentives which could put it below any advance or aspec RDX. Would also beat RDX on performance easily as well. No need for any maintenance except brakes and tires. Also consider gas cost as well.
I had a fully loaded 2019 RDX advance and the msrp was around $50k, not $47k.

The CVRP incentive is $2500. Most people who go for the GT trim will not qualifty for the low-income rebate which is $4000. But this is a moot point: as of Feb 24 the msrp cap for SUV is $60k. This elimiates CVRP altogether for Mach E GT. Ford is going to hit the 200k vehicle cap some time this year. The fed tax credit is not going to be around much longer either.

Please don't confuse what you paid at your dealer with the official MSRP, which is what we are comparing here.
I have a Mach E on order since December last year, and I would be just as excited as you are when it finall arrives. But EV and ICE are apples and oranges, you don't need to bash one because you like the other.

I dang, didn't realize they changed it as of a few weeks ago.
For the income thing, here's a workaround: If you have parents who are are retired (and therefore have very little income), have them be a co-buyer for the car. That way, you (with high enough income to have $7500 worth of tax liabilities) can claim the federal tax credit, and they (with low enough income) get the enhanced CVRP amount. I checked with both the IRS and the CVRP folks and they said it's kosher; the person applying for CVRP does not have to be the same person on Form 8936 since they're two separate programs, as long as both parties are on the bill of sale.

I’m not. I have the official MSRP on my vehicle. It was over $49k almost $50k.
And for bashing, I do have the right to bash my old 2019 Acura RDX. It was a terrible vehicle for the price and the problems it had. I would hate it every time I drove it because of the infotainment system. I really loved it when I got it despite the problems it had but realized after a while that I shouldn’t have to deal with those problems.
Again, the Mach E GT is not a fair comparison, more like the Mach E Premium is a better comparison to the RDX.

Who cares? It's your money, you can say what you want, and if people whine about it they can block you or not read your posts or not click the thread or whatever. The Mach E looks great outside, I agree. It's the interior and features I take issue with, as well as the badge on the front.
Neighbor has a new E-stang. She loves it, or did until it got cold out and she found out it only had about a 100 mile range during cold spells. Live and learn. I was just reading about how if we all ran out and bought a EV that the load on the electrical grid would increase by 400% or more. In simple English that means it would crash. Even to day they remotely kill our A/C at the house during "peak" usage times.
I have a 2019 Advanced RDX. its late production for that MY ( I got it April 1, 2019) and the only TSB it ever needed or had performed was the brake noise. That was fixed. Its hard for me to believe I have had this car for three years now, it still seems new to me. I have never had any issues with this car, not a rattle, suspension noise, etc. There are times when I get a very tiny pop from the right rear corner of the sunroof coming over the curb at the end of my driveway but its really rare and hardly noticeable. I have never wanted another touch screen in a car as I find them a distraction. The touch pad on the RDX is not 100% perfect but I am OK with it and don't give it a second thought.
If I ever have a vehicle that I really hate I get rid of it and move on. Complaining is not solving.

A heat pump would have been a huge help, but unfortunately the Mach-e and the ID.4 (in the US) don't have one. Canadians (and probably Europeans) get the heat pump in the ID.4. Hopefully they add it in the US as well, at least as an option. Volvo offers the heat pump as an option on the XC40 (and probably the C40), it's standard on all current Teslas.

Only 100? I guess that figures as the Tesla range was roughly halved, and the Ford is less evolved. Yeah, I need a vehicle that works in -20*f weather. This is a sad joke.
