Who knows, if the economy is as bad as the media makes it sound, Acura could be in the catbird seat with it's 'affordable' fully equipped philosophy. I could see a scenario where a Lexus or MB owner faced with a slowing economy might want to keep the amenities he's used to, but not want to pay 'ala carte' for a new C class.

It's interesting you look at it in that manner; so is Acura competing with Honda? Shouldn't the bottom of the Acura line start where the top of the Honda line stops, as far as content is considered? Just a thought.

FWIW, we always compete with Honda. I remember the dip in MDX sales just before the Pilot came out. That they share a common chassis is well known, and it seemed like everyone was thinking they were going to get a MDX at Honda prices. Naturally some did buy, but many came back to Acura because they really do feel different.

I love the current TSX...its an epic beauty. But after seeing side to side comparisons side to side pics...I CAN'T BELIEVE it looks dated to me now.
But when I see the current TSX in person still...I still think it looks beautiful.
But now just dated or old school good looking.

For those who want to know something about the interior (dash and head unit) of the next gen TSX, this is my guess.
For the current TSX, the interior is 90% identical to previous generation of Inspire (7th gen US Accord V6 that sold in Japan) so I guess it'll be the same case on the new coming TSX.
Basically, Honda/Acura just playing around with 2 versions of cars and interiors.
US Accord, Jp/Eu Accord ------- a normal interior, a luxury interior.
Jp/Eu Accord + normal interior = Jp/Eu Accord
US Accord + normal interior = US Accord
US Accord (V6) + luxury interior = Inspire
Jp/Eu Accord + luxury interior = Acura TSX
Of cause, there maybe some differences in different country but basically those are the combinations Honda provides.
Interior Picture of Inspire

P.S. One thing I just found out. Remember that USB thing on the new RL. Inspire got that option. There is a chance that it will be on the new TSX.

My guess and "formula" are base on the current TSX and the previous Inspire. And yes, it's just a guess.
Since Honda make the current US Accord (8th gen) to be much more 'luxury" and the current Inspire gets that interior with a little tweak.
What I exactly think about the interior that will be on the next TSX is:
The head unit of Inspire (US Accord) + the dash of Jp/Eu Accord with MID display + the Jp/Eu steering wheel + the USB option in the middle armrest box and maybe a few technology toys for standing out that it is an Acura.

Oh my mistake. On non-Navi models there aren't much different.
For Navi models, Inspire has more toys. Example: DVD drive, 40GB hard disk and mobile phone connector.

I agree with others that this model is a progression and not a drastic change. I like how Acura has kept the lines flowing down the side of the car and through the front, it really looks sharp. They have defined them more making the car seam more aggressive.

It's more aggressive, just a little bigger but not too big, and definitely an improvement over the 1st gen. I can't wait till Acura releases updated picture of the TSX interior (the current pics are for the Accord and we all know Acura interior will be more refined) and engine info. I don't understand what people are complaining about.
Where's RWD? - HELLOOOO....this is Honda. When have they ever offered RWD? SH-AWD is good enough for me. I will even settle for FWD and laugh at all those BMWs slamming into curbs in the snow. Not everyone and their mother want RWD. Most consumers can't tell the difference between RWD and FWD nor do they care. And people want AWD for safety reasons.
The grill is ugly - That's a matter of taste, and I think the grill looks good. Don't diss it till you see it in person. It will grow on you. People alway complain Honda is conversative and blend. But when they try to do something different, you b*tch anyways. Gosh, nothing is enough for you people.
I will keep my 04/05 - my 06 is already better than yours. Sorry. You can say whatever you want to make yourself feel better.
One last point. The TSX is Acura's ENTRY LEVEL sedan. You can't expect them to pack all the goodies in it. This thread is filled with ungrateful people that deserve to waste their money on BMWs.
Rant over.

Some good points, but some real dumb ones as well.
We should be grateful than Honda even still makes cars shouldn't we.

I've been following this thread since the inception with great anticipation re: my next car. I'm on my 2nd Acura and love the service/support.
That said, the "new" TSX is a huge disappointment on so many levels. Styling is so-so at best and a huge comedown from the sports4. The new TSX is getting bigger - too big for me - and heavier so speeds will be even more sluggish.
Unless the final version is readically different from recent postings, I'll be moving on and will now consider IS250, A4, 335 and possibly Accord Coupe. I loved Acura/Honda but they have simply fallen way behind the competition.
Sigh. :-(

Don't know how old you are, but hopefully by 2014, I hope to be driving a real
luxury car.

just my about the pics i've seen on TOV of the euro:
i retract my statement about the rear end being a camry. it may resemble the camry more, but in the context of the sportiness of the car, it reminds me more of a lexus is.
with that said, i think that the back end is the strongest part of this refresh, and wish that the rest of the car looked more like the lexus is than the toyota camry.
if the is was closer in price to the tsx, i'd probably be looking at them for my next car

I don't know if this has come up or not yet (70 freaking pages?!) but I'm curious if any one would be interested in SH-FWD variant? Think of it as an advanced LSD. Personally I'd be pretty interested in this idea as it wouldn't hemorrhage ponies in the drivetrain nearly as bad as an AWD system does while still having a ton of potential benifits - utter non-existence of torque steer anyone? I think it could be even more useful in the diesel version with it's estimated 250 ft-lbs of torque.
Thoughts?

I think once the 1 series enters the show room, Acura / Infiniti etc better be worried. If you like driving, you can probably use the same amount of money to get a bare bone 6sp 128i.
The thing about TSX is that it serves a niche market (value / reliability / entry lux / some performance) pretty well. I don't see why they want to mess with the current formula, so FWD with I4 is fine. But since everyone else can have a pocket rocket to boast, 135i, anyone? let's hope the Type S rocks some boat.
Of course, slap on an ugly grille isn't exactly helping Acura's image.

Or, maybe they just thought; hell, we can't make this situation much worse -- we sold 350 last month. Let's goof around and experiment with a couple ideas and see if we can learn a few things before the FMC in '10. I guess it's a possibility Hope they learn that the protruding nose is not a retro look that is ready to return anytime soon

The differences between generations are more and more thiner, concentrated more on technology and advanced features that in all new design.
The TSX was in 2003 a real revolution in the Honda range as the Acura TL, compared to the older generations.
The new Audi A4 is very similar to the old one, when a car is GOOD, you don't need to reinvent it at 100%, only to get it better...
