Very interesting! I'd say the interior shots show a major rethink on layout and added features. The wheel only SS mode input has me a bit confused. It looks like the padles are only in the lower left 1/4 of the wheel. Overall it looks well thought out. But boy does the front shot of the car look much wider and aggresive. I like it.

Honda released more info on Euro Accord including 10 photos of the wagon and the sedan with the front, side and rear profiles and photos of the interior including gauge cluster. Also some info on futures.
Body is exactly like the TSX, but with better grill and wheels, I suspect inside the TSX will also look like Euro Accord.

If they bring the europe 2.4 here, it means torque up to only 172lbs. Just enough to cover the wieght...put two, three or four and some baggage in my 04 tsx and you have to back up hills...afraid the turbo will come but at $31-33m. Will look at H accord coupe or g8 for next car, maybe tl if SH and not $36m base.

I can't believe they actually put those wheels on the car.

Overall, not impressed. By the sound of things we can expect 210HP/17xlb/ft.

2.2 I-Dtec 150hp / 350 Nm
2.0L 156 hp
2.4L 200 hp, with 223Nm.

5 speed AT
6 speed MT

The european Accord growth in 10 hp in power from the old one with 190 hp... not so much.

new tech. features look interesting like the EPS and the ADAS.

I think it looks pretty good. It's a nice and subtle evolution from the 1st gen. That's what BMW and Audi do with their redesigns, just simple and subtle changes as to not alienate or date the previous model too much.

Definitely not impressed, the rear end I can live with like the overall styling of the rear, the front is not visually appealing at all, I hate the headlights…maybe I just need some time for it to grow on me. I disliked the 07 MDX when it released but have learned to love it.

Btw; not to mention those wheels, there ugly.

What happend to clean & cut lines.

i am ok with the new styling EXCEPT for the new acura grill. i would swap that sucker with a MUGEN grill immediately if i purchased one.

i dont think i'll get another TSX though if they dont offer a AWD version. i'm getting bored with FWD...

That's definitely what I thought of when I saw the new TSX. It looks like they completely ripped off the Camry's design...but why imitate a fugly car in the first place???

On top of this, they're sticking with the 2.4L engine which boggles my mind since the one biggest complaint from people was the lack of power.

I guess in a way I'm glad, though, because that means the resale value on our 1st-gen TSXs will stay high because I honestly don't think anyone is going to want this new garbage .

I know it's the Euro Accord, but the front looks like the US Civic to me, except they tossed on the RDX/RL shield. The rear is nice though, which seems to be the better part of all the new Acuras coming out. I want more news on the Type-S with SH-AWD. 260hp turbo?

I had high hopes for this redesign. What bothers me the most is the fender flares. I have them on my 08 MDX, and in that application, it looks right. I just don't like the pronounced line of the flares on the next TSX. If they did not include those lines, I think it would have been a winner.

Thumbs up

Look ma, they didn't ruin my car! The new design is a great evolution of the existing design and the new grille works here where it failed on the RL. The new headlight cluster shape is interesting, and I like the crease on the mirrors that's not present in the new Euro Accord. The sharper character crease down the side running through the door handles is a great touch too. I wonder if there will be any unique touches to the rear or if it'll look just like the new Euro Accord? The spyshots certainly seemed to show a more aggressive trunk-integrated lip spoiler on the TSX.

The new Euro Accord interior shots look just like the US Accord / JDM Inspire, especially in the center stack. The last Euro Accord looked just like the US Accord on the inside too, but the old JDM Inspire was the same as our 1G TSX. I'm guessing this means we'll be getting a unique interior this time around, which makes sense given how much Acura's been talking about becoming more unique in its designs. I'm guessing the new TSX interior will be an evolution of the RDX design.

I'm not fretting about the engine. Honda squeezed 190hp out of the low-compression engine in the Accord; I'm sure they'll bump the TSX to 230hp or so to keep up with the 328i. Remember they bumped the '06 by 15hp or so just to claim 1 more equine pull than the IS250.

Enthusiastic drivers will also appreciate the new Accord’s greater agility. A lowered center of gravity, a wider track and the all-new front double wishbone and rear multilink suspension with variable rate dampers, plus greater body rigidity mean that the Accord more readily reacts to driver input. Handling is more responsive and confidence-inspiring and body roll is much reduced.
It's not like the current TSX leans a lot in the corners as it is! Will the next stock TSX outhandle the first gen A-Spec suspension? The only thing I'm not enthusiastic about is the idea of an electric power steering system. I love the steering feel on the good old rack-and-pinion design of our TSX and electric systems never seem to feel as good.

The new Accord also features an innovative system in which the capabilities of both VSA and the car’s Electric Power Steering are brought to bear. Called Motion Adaptive EPS, it detects instability in slippery conditions both during cornering and under braking and automatically initiates steering inputs aimed at prompting the driver to steer in the correct direction.

The input is barely noticeable and control of the steering remains with the driver at all times. But this supporting steering torque is enough to prompt the driver to act intuitively and the driver’s reaction as a result is enough to regain stability or to shorten braking distances, allowing control to be maintained.
On the plus side the new safety features should mean an IIHS Top Pick for the new TSX. Looking forward to seeing more of the new design.

How different was the euro accord to our current tsx? So we can determine if our 2009 TSX wll be better than the new euro accord.

I have made my decision to buy an end-of-cycle TL or TSX instead. I'm sure the new TSX will be a sharp handler though. Nice to pics nevertheless.

"Stylish and highly supportive front seats have larger bolsters while a new internal structure is designed to reduce any transmission of vibration."

so does that mean no more vibration when the car is in drive?

looking back at these pics, the grille is growing on me now, if i were to purchase a 2nd gen - first mod is going to paint match that grille or get a mugen. other then that, i like the general interior and rear layout. now just waiting for news whether it will include SHAWD and see what the TL will look like.

that grille from the RL really scared the shit outta me...had nightmares of it going on the TSX.

Press photos are from the 6MT version. Paddle shifters should be similar to other Hondas/Acuras.

What I am curious about is if they keep the K24A2 but throw a turbo on there if I could buy an 09 turbo, ECU, and immobilizer and slap them on my 06 Need specs!

Sorry if it's a repost, some more pics of the Euro Accord posted here as well: http://www.km77.com/00/honda/accord/g01.asp

JJaber06's "A-Spec" conversion looks awesome! The overall shape looks good - the grille is an easy fix. It doesn't sound like there is much of a power/displacement increase for the 4-cylinder though. Hopefully we'll get news of what the Type-S version will be like soon?

That interior has some hints of the Sports4 interior with its swooping center console and the central knob thingy as well as the apearance of the gauge cluster. There's a good chance the next RL will take things further since Honda/Acura is incementaly making use of those design cues.

Lightbulb TSX and Civic

I wouldn't be surprised if the new TSX is actually based on the Civic platform given that the new USA Accord uses the RL's platform. The new Civic is as big as the first generation TSX, so it stands to reason.

On those Euro pics the wheel offsets look totally wrong, the wheels are tucked deep into the fenders. Also the proportions of the wheels to the fender arches is totally wrong. When you have arches that big you need larger wheels to compensate.

I'd like to see it in white with 18-19" wheels, a slight drop, and a new grille to make a final judgement call but so far it's a snoozer, especially when you are pushing $30K. I would argue that the 2009 Mazda 6 looks a LOT better and I didn't want to say that.

Yeah the wheels seem small and recessed by comparison to the current model whos wheel look more like a natural fit. I remember seeing that on the spy photo and, again, thinking that was temporary, but no.

I feel that the TSX looks too much like this in terms of the grill and side profile.

and this is why Honda/Acura needed to make the next TSX daring and different. Critics said the 1st gen TSX was bland (I disagree) but I'm sure they will say the same thing again. It's absolutely amazing how little Honda/Acura has changed their game plan in the last five years despite falling sales and mediocre reviews.

If there's one thing I've learned regarding Honda's and Acura's, is not to pass judgement until I see it in person. The pic's never seem to do them justice. Before I bought my 04 TSX I had basically writtin it off after seeing the brochure.

I feel the same way (especially that bold part) but I can't agree, if that makes sense. The first gen TSX was for the most part a critical success. Car & Driver's 10 Best 3 years in a row and it won a few comparison tests. It outsold predictions and remains a strong seller almost 5 years after its release. There is IMO a market for a stylish low cost "luxury" vehicle and that's what Acura seems to be going after once again.

But the Acura brand as a whole seems to be slipping and their reputation is suffering because of that. I can't help but think the TSX will suffer because of it.

Lets hope there is a much more powerful AWD, Type S version on the way.

Based on this newest batch of pictures I will absolutely not be trading in for an 09.

1st Gen > * > 2nd Gen

It looks like every other mid-size sedan Japan is pumping out these days.

heck in my opinion the exterior of that saturn looks much better.

even with this chop I did of the tsx to get it to somewhere I can stomach I dont like is as much as the saturn exterior. the stupid fat lipped flared fenders need to go for more of a design like the saturn has.
